Advantages: last a long time and look good

Disadvantages: take a long time to apply

This kit comes with everything you need to apply your own gel nails. Nail tips, gel, spray activator a nail file, nail glue and instructions.

Firstly you select the right size tip for your nails there are quite a few sizes and you can file them down for the perfect fit. Line them up in order once you have choosen them as it makes them easier to apply.

You then use the nail glue on the back of the tip up to where the thicker ridge is this also acts well as a guide as to where to place the nail.

Once this is dry you use the gel this comes in a container with a long pointed top, you put it in a straight line up your nail then use it to spread it over your nail in a zig zag. This can be quite fiddily so do it on a flat surface you have to use quite a bit of the gel to get it flat and even as the hard nozzle can put lines in it. I don't think this is really the best designed thing in the world for doing this and prehaps a brush or something would have made it easier.

After you apply the gel you use the spray activator over the top. This comes in a pump action bottle with a small sprayer on the top. You need to hold it quite far from your nails as it can put little dints in the finish otherwise. Do this over some newspaper as it is quite messy. I found this quite difficult to get a neat result with as you have to hold it quite far away it sprays onto your skin. It can be wiped away if you are quick when it is still wet but otherwise it goes hard.

After this has been done you can then file the nails down to the required length I did find that these nails are quite long and for most people will need filing down a bit. This does take a long time with an ordinary nail file but is much quicker if you are lucky enough to have a battery operated one.

After this you are able to paint the nails, this is easy to do and it leaves a smooth result.

The nails last for a few weeks and continue to look good so even though thier application is quite messy and time consuming it is worth it in the end as they do produce great results and are a lot better than other products of this kind I have tried.

These cost around £10 from Superdrug.

Summary: well worth trying
