Advantages: cheap, durable, large selection of shades
Disadvantages: none!
This little beauty was another purchase from my first order of many. This was bought both out of curiosity and the fact that it was again in that beautiful £1.50 price bracket. In the past I have generally gone for powder blushes purely out of habit but I fancied trying out a few new shades for my skin tone so I bought this product both in "Persimmon" and "Pink Lemonade". The only colour that I have tried out so far is the "Persimmon" one but I will be focusing more on the quality of the actual product itself. The fact that it is an "all over" colour stick indicates that it is for several uses, in this case eyes, lips and cheeks. I, however, prefer to use it just on my cheeks.
The packaging is once again very simple, the product itself being contained in a white plastic cylindrical tube of glue-stick thickness with a clear lid that comes maybe half way down the tube. It obviously has the e.l.f. branding in silver on the white part of the tube. Another beautiful thing about some of the e.l.f products is the fact that they are scented, this all over colour stick being of an orangey aroma, not too sickly though and a pleasant additional feature.
I apply this after my foundation to highlight my cheek bones and I find it very effective. It glides on very smoothly and also stays intact very well in hot countries (currently in Italy) in the sense that it doesn't turn straight to liquid or mush. I generally find that you need to blend it very slightly, but it has a nice, subtle sheen to it in a certain light. Obviously you can apply as much or little as you want given personal taste and style. Although it stays intact extremely well, obviously in hotter countries you may need to re-apply after 6 or 7 hours as your makeup starts to slide off your face (oh the joys of hot climates), but I find that when I am in the UK, one application on a morning is enough to give me a healthy glow all day.
My skin is not very delicate anyway but I have had no problems whatsoever with it since starting to use this colour stick, nothing in the way of spots or irritation at all. I absolutely love it and the shade itself is beautiful. The pictures of the shades as they are on the website is very accurate; the only reason I have not used the "Pink Lemonade" shade is because that is more my usual shade and the "Persimmon" was me trying something new, which was clearly the way to go as I have been hooked ever since! There is an excellent selection of shades online for every shade of skin and whichever style of makeup you favour.
For the miniscule price it is definitely worth trying a couple of shades, try something you wouldn't usually go for, as you might surprise yourself. This stick looks as though it might take a while to run down - after a month I have made a small dent in it - but I will most definitely be using it again! In fact, e.l.f recently had an offer on where everything on their website was half price if the initial spent was £25, aka £12.50 afterwards. Needless to say I spent about £40, which was taken down to £20 and I ordered this colour stick amongst a stack of other bits and bobs which I absolutely cannot wait to try out! I would highly recommend this product.
