***Why I want the product?*** I do not know a single woman who does not wear concealer or highlighter of some sort under their eyes. As Bobbi Brown says "Concealer is the secret of the universe" and I agree with her 100%. Woman are typically frightened to apply powder under the eyes as they are scared the powder will dry their under eye, the powder will sink into fine lines and make them look older. Powder since then have thankfully been re-formed into being much finer, that fine it is difficult to detect on camera and this is where HD powder come into play. Powder in face makeup is used to set the makeup in place, whether it is concealer, foundation or blush. Mostly all those that are liquid base, powder is great to set it to last all day otherwise it can crease and fade off. ***What is HD powder and how is it different?*** HD Powder is universal translucent finishing powder that has been extremely finely milled so it can be even used under the eye area to set makeup, such as concealer and highlighter. The powder on the face has the ability to mattifie the skin without changing the makeup underneath. It has the ability to soften the appearance of imperfections. HD powders are also invisible on HD cameras and to the naked eye so perfect for those who work on TV and camera and yet for us lot who just like to look like we are not plastered in makeup. HD powders can be used on any skin tone. ***About the product*** E.L.F High Definition (HD) Undereye Setting Powder is a light defusing powder that helps to camouflage fine lines, dark circles and imperfections around the undereye area so it is camera ready or for everyday wear. The light silky powder adds a velvet finish, which is ideal for setting concealers and highlighters without them creasing throughout the day. With vitamin C and K infused within the formula, these vitamins help to restore and strengthen the skin for a revitalised appearance. ***What are the ingredients in this product?*** As ELF mentioned vitamin C and K in their description of this product, upon looking at the ingredient list: Vitamin C, which is good to help protect the skin and support the structure, helps to strength the skins barrier as well as other benefits. It is named as Ascorbyl Palmitate in the ingredient list and six in the ingredient list. Ascorbyl palmitate has been proven to be most stable and effective. Vitamin K, which is a well known ingredient to help lighten dark circles and named as Phytonadione. It is seventh on the ingredient list. The lower the 'active' ingredient is on the list it means it has less of a potent, which in simple terms can mean it might not be effective due to other ingredients overpowering it. There are sixteen ingredients in total and this includes ten pigments (CI). ***Packaging*** ELF's Studio cosmetics over the year or so have taken on a more professional feel. The box this product comes in is sleek matte black with a plastic see through in the middle so you can see the product and the little brush that comes complete with the product. The front tells you what the product is called with a cream background and black writing. The back of the box tells me how to apply the product, ingredients and the very bottom of the box tells me the box is recyclable, and the product is not tested on animals. There is also a symbol of a hand, which states charity at the bottom. Taking the product out of the box, again the sleek packaging continues. The black brush is small with dense bristles in order to pick the product up with ease of application. Undereye Setting Power comes in a small square plastic container. The black matte lid states elf High Definition Undereye Setting Powder, while the see though under side shows a very tiny amount of product, which is surrounded in a lot of plastic to make it seem more. You get 1.2g of product in colour sheer. Taking of the secure screw of lid the product looks like the inside of a mineral foundation with the little pin holes so the product can come out. ***What does the product look like and stand up?*** Tipping a small amount of product to the back of my hand the product is very fine and sheer with a pink hue. Spreading it out the pink hue quickly disappears but now I can see tiny glitter particles, which are there to help give the eyes a brighten fresh look. There is not a lot of glitter so your under eye area wont look like a disco ball but enough to still keep the polished look. ELF say to use, apply over concealer to set in and for extra coverage or wear along for light concealing. Which is good for me as always I find with liquid concealers although they are better for the under eye area as you will find they are more moisturising, they also crease and sometimes quickly. This is why when wearing liquid foundations you apply a powder over the top to set the liquid in place and stay on for longer. Applying my concealer before any creasing can happen I take the brush that comes with the product, swirl the brush into the product, tap off the excess and gently brush it over my concealer. This is where a problem started, the brush is not made for this product due to the fact it is more of a flat brush that when gliding over something soft such as concealer it takes some of the concealer away with it. So like most brushes that come with products the brush was discarded and I continued to use the product with my soft, long bristled brush that I knew would fit the job perfectly. So trying again on a different day with the new and improved brush. Tapping a small amount of product into the lid, swirling the product into the brush, tapping off the excess and gently applying the powder to my under eye. The first thing I worry about is the fine powder setting into fine lines. I need not have worried as I find the lighter you are with application this does not happen and you seem to get a much better result. Undereye Setting Powder does not make your under eye drier than normal due to your concealer holding in moisture but you do need to make sure your under eye area is well moisturised before hand as concealer and powder over the top can accentuate this problem making your dry under eye seem much worse. I find a light application when worn over concealer really does hold it in place all day with only a sight fading of the concealer. However, when it is applied alone like ELF say you can do I did not see any difference at all in my dark circles but it does not make dry eyes any worse. When I apply this I can hardly see any powder at all, I can see a tiny amount of glitter but I need to be looking for it. Anyone you talk to or meet will not know you have this product under your eyes. I have very pale skin and the colour to this product is perfect for me, I would think on darker skin tones it will look ligher under the eyes, which is not a bad thing but you may need to blend the product out more with the rest of your face makeup. ***Price and availability*** You can purchase this product from elfcosmetics.co.uk in their studio line for £3.75. ***What I think about it/do I like it?*** Although you get such a small amount of product you need a tiny amount, I have had mine for six months if not longer and I am hearly half way down. I use this every single day and will be re-purchasing.
