Anyone who has read my reviews will know I am a huge convert to E.L.F the full name being Eyes Lips Face. Last year they had a multitude of 50% off sales and during this time I bought a huge variety of products that I would never have normally bought but never got around to using quite a few of them. A couple of weeks ago while clearing out my make up drawers (yes, plural) I came across this primer and decided it was time to give it a try and here is the review. *~* About E.L.F *~* ELF is an American company that is based primarily online however it is a huge brand in America where the products can be bought even cheaper and in stores. In the UK the easiest place to get a hold of the items is from their website www.eyeslipsface.co.uk, I have also heard that TKMaxx also stocks their products sporadically however I haven't seen them, I am not a frequenter of the store but the times I have been in I haven't noticed them. ELF believe that their products are simple tools to enable a woman to be herself and I have to agree that they cater to many tastes and budgets so they have tapped into a market that is overloaded and yet still managed to provide quality products at tiny prices. *~* Price *~* I noticed recently that ELF's prices have recently risen slightly, when I bought the product it cost just £5 and as it was 50% off I paid just £2.50 for this which I feel is pretty good value. At the moment the primer is selling for £6 (as of August 2012). *~* Packaging *~* ELF products are always delivered promptly and safely even during their sales which I feel is excellent customer service. This primer came in a black cardboard box which is representative of the Studio range which this primer is from. The box is sleek and expensive looking if a little unnecessary. Once opened the primer itself is a white bottle that feels like plastic with a silver inner part which I presume holds the primer. The lid is transparent plastic, I like the packaging but it does look a little cheap and neither can you see how much you have left which is annoying really. Underneath the lid is a pump dispenser which I find to be regular of their Studio range which I have the foundation from, this is also white and although clean looking also a little cheap. The thing I will say about the lid is that it doesn't stay on at all, after a couple of weeks I have resigned myself to the fact that the lid is utterly useless and therefore it has been banished to the bottom of my make up box although it should be in the bin. I mention this as if you were to keep it in a bag to take it out it could result in the primer being all over your bag. The pump works well and I haven't had any problems with it being clogged up or becoming stuck and refusing to give me any primer so I am pleased with this aspect. *~* How To Use *~* ELF gives the description as follows: "Transform your face into a flawless and smooth canvas with the mineral Infused Face Primer. Developed to combat excess oil, flaky dryness, enlarged pores and fine lines to result in a natural and youthful looking radiance. This clear multipurpose skin primer will prepare your skin so makeup goes on evenly for a lasting finish." (http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/product~prodID~176.htm, August 2012). To use you simply apply to a clean face, I find that you only need the tiniest amount, a 20p blob at the very most is more than enough to coat the whole face, perhaps even less than that. *~* What Does It Do To The Senses? *~* I first used the pump to add a little amount onto my finger tips, I was surprised to find that it's almost a clear gel, I did wonder at first what it was actually going to do! It doesn't really have a smell to it, it does smell slightly of cleanliness if that makes sense, it's not really a smell I would associate with make up but it's not unpleasant or strong and it doesn't stick to the skin either so it really doesn't affect use at all. When I rubbed it into my skin it felt very cool which I was surprised about, at first it had a greasy feel to it but once it had absorbed (very quickly I may add) it had a very matte feel to it, almost chalky feeling. It was a very strange feeling on my skin but it did feel super soft. *~* Applying Make Up On Top *~* Once I had applied the primer I went about using my make up as normal but first I had a peek to see if my skin looked any different and found that no, it looked regular so I was concerned as to how this was going to make a difference to my face with make up as so far it felt nothing had been done except making my skin feel silky soft. I applied my foundation which is a liquid over the primer and I found it smoothed on extremely well. It was like the primer gave a base to my make up base if that makes sense? It glided on and made my face much smoother and even than normal. Applying powder and blusher on top I found that my make up felt lighter almost, I didn't use as much as I normally did and I found that it all went on much easier than normal. It definitely made applying my make up so much quicker and easier which I was very impressed with. *~* How Did It Look? *~* When I first saw myself in full make up using the primer I was shocked at how flawless my skin looked. I have patchy redness, dryness in some places and generally look terribly awful without the use of make up. When I use make up this improves how I look but it by no means covers up all imperfections however this primer most definitely does help get rid of those huge pores I'm blessed with (or at least cover them up), banish redness and dryness for which I am truly grateful. *~* Does It Make My Make Up Last? *~* I was having problems getting my make up to stay put past mid afternoon and was struggling however using this primer I have found that I can put my make up on and 10 hours later it is still on there, it has wavered a little but that is to be expected, on the whole however my make up lasts so much longer than it used to so I am very happy with the results it provides. *~* My Overall Opinion *~* Overall I am extremely happy with this product, not only does it improve how my make up makes me look it also makes it stay put longer. It feels light on my face and gives it that silky softness that it hard to achieve. It absorbs into the skin well and really does do what it claims to. I have found that you need a miniscule amount to cover your face so I believe that the 14g bottle will last a fair amount of time. The packaging could use some work, a better lid that actually stays of would be beneficial as would changing the look of the bottle as it does have a cheap feel to it but the pump action works well and I really like that about it. I do have to knock off 1 star for the packaging but overall this is an excellent product and I really would highly recommend it.
Yes, I will be reviewing another ELF product today! If you read my reviews, you will be aware that ELF is a relatively new make-up brand that sells good quality products that won't break the bank. Packaging The primer bottle comes in a black cardboard box, which I found excessive and unnecessary. The primer itself comes in a bottle with a pump attached to the top, making it easy to dispense and also hygienic. There is a plastic lid that covers the pump, but it is not very secure, so if you are going to take this primer with you on holiday, I would recommend using some tape to secure the cap on the bottle. Apart from that I have had no problems with the packaging, and the pump also works well and hasn't gotten clogged or stopped working yet, and I have had the product for a few months now. What ELF Says: Transform your face into a flawless and smooth canvas with the mineral Infused Face Primer. Developed to combat excess oil, flaky dryness, enlarged pores and fine lines to result in a natural and youthful looking radiance. This clear multipurpose skin primer will prepare your skin so makeup goes on evenly for a lasting finish. Directions Apply to clean skin prior to makeup application. Use a small amount and blend evenly over the face for a smooth and flawless base. The Primer To use, you just dispense a small amount using the pump and then apply to your face using your finger tips or a make-up brush. I prefer to use my fingertips as it feels easier and more convenient. After applying this, I give it 5 minutes to absorb, and then apply my foundation, concealer and powder. The primer has a gel-like consistency and is easy to smooth over your face. I would recommend you start with using a small amount and then add more if need be, otherwise the primer will not absorb completely and feel heavy on your skin. However, when you use a small amount it absorbs within 5 minutes and you can't feel it on your skin. A face primer is generally meant to make your make-up last longer and look even. So does it work? Yes, my make-up definitely seems to last longer when I use this. At the end of the day, my foundation is still in my place and my blush hasn't faded. It smooths out my skin and also gets rid of any dryness. I don't think I'd actually be able to apply make-up in dry weather without this as dry skin makes my make-up look patchy. I don't find that it combats excess oil when my skin is oily though, and doesn't really seem to make much of a difference to enlarged pores or fine lines. However, it does help my make-up look more even and last longer. It is unscented so you won't have to worry about your face smelling like anything. This primer contains silica which some people may be allergic too, so it is important to consider this before use. Price and Availability ELF products are not sold in stores in the UK, so can only be bought online at www.eyeslipsface.co.uk. The 14g bottle costs £6, so it is cheaper than other alternatives available in the market, but I've never paid full price for it anyway, making it quite a bargain. As stated in previous reviews, ELF often has some sort of offer or sale going on, and that is when I tend to stock up. Final Word While this primer doesn't do all the things it promises, it definitely helps my make-up last longer and look more even, and I really like it for this purpose. In fact, I've even bought a back-up for when I finish my current bottle, which won't be soon as you only need to use a small amount each time so it lasts for ages. The price is reasonable and the primer is often on offer, so I definitely recommend it. This review may appear on other sites under the same username.
I have been ordering various products from ELF for the past 8 months and I have never been disappointed. With fast delivery and good quality products I really cannot fault them! I bought the ELF mineral infused face primer a few months back and loved it to bits. It ran out after about a month or so, so I decided to buy another one. I placed my order yesterday and received it today! Good service! THE PACKAGING The primer comes in a little black box with all the ingredients and details on how to apply on it. The liquid comes in a pump bottle which allows the product to come out easy. The bottle is white which gives it a classy look if you like to show your make up off to your friends. It looks expensive but was actually a bargain! THE PRICE I paid £6.00 for this little beauty. Absolute bargain if you ask me. I bought a Urban Decay face primer a few years back and was incredibly disappointed at the fact that the coverage was heavy and sticky and I had pain £12.00 for it! COVERAGE The primer product is a soft gel like substance that goes on smoothly. A little goes a long way with this product so it should last quite a while. You can use a foundation brush to apply or your fingertips, which ever works best for you. HOW TO APPLY You just simply apply a pea sized amount of the product onto your hands or your brush and apply all over your clean face. After you have done this apply your concealer and foundation as normal and use powder to set if you want. INGREDIENTS Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica, Penoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben. WHERE TO BUY You can purchase this on the ELF website : http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/product~prodID~176.htm Or if you do not live in America you can purchase this on the American ELF website : http://www.eyeslipsface.com/products.asp?parent_id=1197&dept_id=2057 Or you can purchase ELF products in Target (In America) MY THOUGHTS I found this primer made my make up last twice as long as it would without a primer. It has no smell to it so you don't have to worry about your face smelling. It doesn't feel heavy on your skin, in fact it feels like you have nothing on your face. ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer I have bought three other products from eyes lips and face before (see reviews) and some are really good and other are not so good, but the brand and most of the products are so amazing! I bought it from their website and i don't think you can buy it from anywhere else. They have a huge and I do mean huge range of products and they also have a huge range of shades and colours of their products too! I bought this primer about two weeks ago and for those of you who don't know or are not sure what a face primer is, all will be explained. A face primer in general is a gel/cream that you apply to your face before you make up and various products have specific functions, for example, some are just to get rid/mask fine lines and wrinkles and others just brighten your skin. But this product says that it combats excess oil, flakey dry skin, enlarged pores and fine lines and I have to say it basically does all of these things! It does not completely mask/get rid of your pores but in my experience with this product it really really does reduce the size of my pores and i have also found that as I have oily skin this product keeps my skin matte for a lot longer (Compared to when I don't use a primer). It also makes my skin super smooth and oh so soft so that my powder foundation goes on really evenly, smoothy and it makes putting my foundation on quicker and easier. And it makes my foundation and the rest of my make up last a lot longer where as before it would be like I had not even put any make up on. It basically makes my foundation last most of the day and it is colourless so that even skin tone can use it. The bottle is white inside and it has a nice clear case around it. I don't know why it says mineral infused, as in the ingredients I don't think it has any minerals in and it also has parabens in which are not very good for your skin, but I have no problem with it. It also has sillica or silicon in it too and some people can be allergic to silicon so be careful with make up ingredients. Conclusions *colourless so it is suitable for every skin tone *Keeps oil at bay for most of the day *Reduces the size of my pores *It comes in a nice clinical clean style bottle *pump dispenser so that it it more hygienic *An amazing price of £6! *A great brand and they also have a great website and items are delivered quickly and without any fuss *A good product Thank you for reading my review
