I was so excited to treat myself to an Elizabeth Arden product and this product was great because it has everything you need in one place.
A mirror and applicator in the form of a sponge.
I brought a light shade of powder to apply and seal over my foundation from the same range.
I was informed by the assistant and after researching on their website that this product was okay for oily skin and would not crack or fine lines appear at all.
My skin is not extremely oily and is so much better now I have found the right treatment but on both side of oily and normal skin I saw the fine lines appear.
I experimented with another foundation in this range, one from another range and even reducing the amount of powder I applied but I still saw after a few hours the powder look cracked in appearance and was so mortified that I would not use this again.
Try a sample maybe before you buy. x
One of my friends is a beautician and gets lots of freebies when it comes to cosmetics, this Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish compact was one of the freebies she passed on to me. I have no idea of the usual price and once you read the review it will become apparent I don't need to know the price either!
On first inspection I loved it, a little compact that fits in your handbag with it's own little mirror. Great. I don't need powder on top of this either? Even better. Excellent coverage without clogging pores, brilliant. I thanked her and tucked it away in my bag.
A couple of days later, running late for work, in a panic I reached for this compact to save me time. I'm one of those people who rarely steps out of the house without make up, if I do it has to be dark and only in the garden!
The product itself is like a firm cream pressed into the compact and comes with a square sponge to apply it. I used the sponge to dab this onto my face, went into the bathroom for a look in better lighting and immediately had to wash my face.
It looked really heavy and thick on my skin so I was forced to go without foundation until lunch on that particular day.
That evening I decided to try again to see if it was the way I'd applied it or how much I'd applied. No matter what I tried it looked the same, far too heavy. I thought this might be because I have dry skin so I applied directly after moisturiser which improved it slightly but not enough for me to use it. So I temporarily gave up and reverted back to normal foundation and powder. I asked my friend if she had any suggestions but she just said it doesn't suit all skin types and I wasn't doing anything wrong.
I did however keep this compact in my bag for a while and once or twice when I needed a slight touch up to my make up I resorted to using it for small areas but I just couldn't get it to sit on my skin in a natural way and no-one wants to look like a panto dame do they?!
Eventually I threw it away. For me it was far too heavy and I was very disappointed with the product, I usually love Elizabeth Arden's cosmetics but not this time. Therefore I don't know the price as I have no intention of buying this but having looked briefly online it seems to vary from about £7 on ebay to £20 at some of the cosmetics websites. It's available in a variety of shades to suit various skin tones.
I have never been one of those who pay a small fortune for famous name make up, but for me this is the one product that you get what you pay for. Initially I bought this handy compact at a reduced price of £7 because it was a similar price to Boots No 7. Having used the foundation every day for about 5 months I discovered I was about to run out. Of course this time I had to pay more but I had been coverted. I often have problems with foundation and this is suitable for those with relatively sensitive skin and also doesn't seem to clog your pores as much as many other foundations. Advantages * The handy compact fits easily into your handbag for those little emergencies. * It is long lasting. * You don't need powder on top so it is perfect for those in a hurry. * It comes complete with a sponge and a mirror so it can be used anywhere. * There is a wide variety of shades and you can usually find one to suit you. * It provides excellent coverage - even for those with problems with patchy skin. Although the retail price is around £18 you can usually pick it up for around £12 in discount shops or the duty free. I have found that it lasts about twice as similar products by other companies such as Avon.
Being mixed race, it has always been a real challenge to find a foundation that matches my skin tone - even Clinque didn't do it for me. Once I found this, my troubles were over!! I also have a sprinkling of freckles which I like covered up, so that was also a problem as I hate makeup piled on deep. This product covered my freckles without being too heavy and gave me a really exquisite finish.... It is very longlasting, and as I don't believe in reapplying foundation during the day, this was perfect for me. It is quite expensive, but it last really long even with everyday use, I have had mine for about 3 months now and it's about half finished. The only problem I found is that it has a tendency to rub off onto clothes, faces etc.
