I recently went on a trip to the states and whilst there I bought the Essie nail polish in the shade 'Bahama Mama', which is a lovely deep purple. In the states Essie polishes are a lot cheaper, they work out to be around £5, but in the UK they sell for around £10.

The polish comes in a glass bottle with word Essie embossed on the side, the lid is white and the brush is fairly standard. What I enjoy about the polish is that it doesn't gloop up like some polishes can, in fact the polish applies incredibly smoothly and evenly. The colour takes two coats to achieve its true bottle colour and it dries after a few minutes, which isn't amazingly fast but I'm happy with it. I rarely apply a base coat or top coat but I find that this colour doesn't stain my nails and my nails don't chip badly, they usually last about a week.

I would recommend Essie polishes because they do some amazing shades and are so nice to apply, however I would look into perhaps purchasing them online as I am not sure I could justify paying the full UK price!
