Advantages: Still has the durability of the other essie products

Disadvantages: colour and drying time

So having recently confessed to an addiction to Nail varnish I've decided to carry on with my experience of the essie range and this time a negative experience with the Varnish. I'd recently bought myself a brand new dress for an evening function I'd been invited to and having found a suitable lipstick in my collection, set about finding a nail varnish. Now I've bought between 10 and 15 different bottles of essie varnishes in different colours, so I thought finding an off creamy colour wouldn't be too hard.

In the past I've been able to pick up a bottle of essie and be able to feel confident that the colour it appears in the bottle is the colour that'll appear on my nails. So with this in mind I bought myself a bottle of Essie Mademoiselle as it seemed to be just the right sort of shade for the dress I was now in possession of. Unlike my previous experiences with essie though this one was going to be a major disappointment.

So having once again bought two bottles of the essie range for £8, I still refuse to pay £4.99 for just one so always buy two at a time, I was the owner of a bottle of Mademoiselle. My big night out came and once I had showered and done my hair I moved onto my nails. As with the others I thought I'd have to allow this to dry for about 15 minutes, just in case as the others had taken variable amounts of times. So using the applicator I spread the varnish onto my nails and as with the other colours I got a very even, un cracked vanished that would have looked superb.

The colour didn't quite seem right though, it was a more a beige white colour than it appeared in the bottle. I thought that at least I could do another coat and it'd make it a little darker and it'd be fine. It was the first time the colour hadn't looked the same as it does in the bottle. Rather than apply the second coat I started doing other things and half an hour later went to put on my dress. To my horror, some 45 minutes after applying the nail varnish I ended up with it smudged all over the front of my dress.

I now didn't have time to remove it either so after touching it up and sitting with my fingers out the car window we headed off for the do. This was the first time I've ever had one of these sort of problems with the essie range. As far as cracks and chips go, they just don't seem to happen with this range and while it's best to take it off after two days wear it really doesn't chip or crack easily. Unlike the other essie products I've tried though I really can't recommend this one. It takes forever to dry and the colour looks totally different on your nails.

Summary: Not the best of the Essie range
