I have needed a new mascara for a really long and I went to Paris last week and on the ferry they had a duty free shop which I planned to take advantage of using my leftover euros on the way back. I was left with 30 euros by the end of my trip and straight away picked up my trusty benefit boing concealer and went in search of a much needed mascara. I was stuck between estee lauder and lancome, I chose estee lauder simple because it was cheaper and even then I had about six different types to choose from as they all created different effects.
I chose this magnascopic maximum volume mascara in the end as the eyelash images next to the tube appealed to me most, thick and long but not overly sticky looking. I got this for £16 which I think it fairly cheap for an estee lauder product but it was duty free so I'm guessing it's probably £4 or £5 more at normal shop prices.
All the mascaras had the same packaging, blue box with gold lettering so I had to make sure I chose the right one as some of them were mixed up (hate when people do that!!). The tube itself is fairly thick and reminds me of the falsies fat tubes, but estee lauder has a much more toned down colour scheme of blue and gold. I like how chunky the tube is as it makes it easier to find in my makeup bag, especially with the thick gold round the middle, and very comfortable to hold.
The brush isn't anything special, just long and thin and not at all thick and bristly like most of the mascaras I usually go for are. When applying it, I don't need as many coats as I usually do either, it comes out very thick on my eyelashes and instantly adds a lot of length and volume, once or twice I've to remove it as I've applied one to many coats and it's gone thick and sticky. My eyelashes almost double in length without looking ridiculously thin and spikey. Friends have noticed and commented on how long my eyelashes are since wearing this mascara too so it definitely makes a noticeable difference.
What's also good about this mascara is that it doesn't flake or smudge like a lot of other mascaras! The only problem I find is sometimes where it makes my lashes so long I get little black dots above my eyes or at the corners of my eyes where I try to get the end lashes, however this is easily wiped away. Also it does take a while to remove fully, but then again I do use stores own baby wipes to remove my makeup so it's a bit of mission anyway, I'm sure an actual make up remover would work better as they are oilier!
Overall I would really recommend this, it is expensive but worth it if you want lovely long eyelashes everyday!
I have been using Estee Lauder Magnascopic Mascara for a couple of years now. Don't ask me why, because I don't think it's that great, however I seem to have been stuck buying it and don't know what else to buy.
There are pros and cons to this mascara:
The mascara brush is just a normal brush. It isn't weird or wonderful like many of the brushes available today, and it means the mascara is easy to apply. The brush is long enough to reach those finer eyelashes in the corner.
Comes in different shades. I like the brown for during the day and the black for evenings.
It does lengthen your eyelashes.
This product lasts all day. Does not smudge or wear off.
One of these mascaras will last a long time. On average they last me around 3 months before I need a new one.
It can occasionally be clumpy if not applied properly.
THE PRICE. £20 for such a small product is definitely too expensive for me.
Doesn't really thicken your lashes, it just lengthens them.
In summary: Not a bad mascara but for the price, I would expect more. If you are thinking of getting this product, I'd suggest visiting an estee lauder stand to try before you buy!
I got my MagnaScopic as a part of a gift box in post-Christmas sales, fortunately for a very good price and mascara wasn't the only thing in the box I was after - otherwise I would be very disappointed.
It comes in a dark blue plastic, quite stylish but not very expensive-looking packaging with golden writing. I'm pretty sure if you purchased it on its own, it would come in a box with a leaflet containing all the information, my gift box, however, only had a brief summary on the packaging.
The disappointment begins when you screw-open it and reveal the brush. It's thin, flimsy and to me it gives neither volume nor length. If you prefer a thin brush, it may suit you, but definitely check before buying.
Mascara itself is deep black and has good pigmentation, however it is not waterproof and smudges a little, the lashes stick together (doing my make up every day for last 10 years or so, I don't think it's my fault rather than mascara's). On the other side it doesn't irritate my eyes and can be removed fairly easily.
Considering I choose the mascara based on what effect it has when I'm putting it on, rather than how easy it is to take it off, I will use it up, but won't buy again regardless of price. Normally it retails at around £28, I got my gift box containing this mascara, small eye cream and small eye make-up remover all for £18.50. I'm happy with the other two items, but mascara wouldn't be worth even this (for Estee Lauder very cheap) price.
At the moment I'm trying to find an old mascara with a good brush I could replace for MagnaScopic brush so I can use it on daily basis at least.
My auntie gave me mascara a while back, and I knew it was an expensive brand so hopefully it will be a product would be good, however I did like the fact that the product did give me long lashes, however I got a bit annoyed at the fact that the long lashes looked like spider legs and clumpy. Not attractive look! So sadly that was a huge disappointment, but long lashes are the best. Even though, my opinion was that expensive brands do a good job but this product proves that they don't do why they say and that they don't always do the best job. If your not careful, some products look cheap. Not good.
This mascara is avaliable in black and brown - but black mascara is for me any day!
I assume that the mascara is expensive approx 12 pounds, and that's pretty pricey for a mascara that doesn't do a good job!
Personally I wouldn't buy this mascara again, because it is too expensive and it doesn't do a good job and makes your lashes look messy, clumpy and it looks like that you've a dried out or cheap mascara. So to be honest, it is not worth spending more then ten pounds on a product like this.
I very rarely use cosmetics other than Boots No. 7, but was recently able to print out a voucher for a free tube of Estee Lauder MagnaScopic mascara.
The mascara comes in an extremely unusual designed tube and is very expensive looking. The tube is a shiny dark blue and is tapered on both ends. There is a thick gold band around the width of the tube and Estee Lauder's simple logo is written in gold lettering with the words "Maximum Volume Mascara, Mascara volume intense" underneath.
To use the mascara, you simply unscrew the one side of the tube to release the wand and average sized brush. The mascara dispenses well and is not too thick when the brush is dipped into the liquid. Estee Lauder advertise this product as fragrance free, but there was a rather overpowering smell that I simply cannot explain!!
I found the mascara was extremely easy to apply, as the brush is the perfect size for application to both upper and lower lashes. However, I found the shiny surface of the holder a little difficult to grasp as it felt somewhat slippery, so I was conscious of the fact that I could blob my mascara!!
Having said that, when I eventually managed to apply the mascara I was pleased with the results as I felt my lashes were both longer and thicker. Unfortunately, I expected more from this product, particularly as it has such a high price tag. I did not feel there was anything exceptional about the results and would compare it to cheaper high street brands.
Estee Lauder's website claim that the "speed meter brush is streamlined for precise handling, hugs the curves of every lash with supercharged colour". Estee Lauder further claim that the formula allegedly gives you up to 300% thicker lashes. Unfortunately, I cannot agree with either of these statements, as in my opinion, this is just an ordinary run-of-the-mill mascara at a premium price.
On a positive note, the product stayed on my lashes all day long and I did not need to reapply. There was no running or smudging, so I felt confident that my make-up was in tip-top condition. I found the mascara easy to remove with a few cotton wool balls blobbed with baby lotion.
There is no mention on the tube whether this product has been dermatologically tested, so I researched Estee Lauder's website and have discovered it is safe for those who suffer with sensitive eyes and for those who wear contact lenses. However, users are advised that if they experience discomfort they should immediately contact their ophthalmologist.
The empty tube can be recycled after use.
The mascara can be purchased in most major department stores and larger branches of Boots and is available in black and brown. A 9ml tube will set you back £18.00.
I personally would not buy this product as there are much cheaper brands that do the same job for a fraction of the price, therefore, I can only give this product 2 out of 5 dooyoo stars.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
I L.O.V.E this mascara and is the one I use the most regually. I am a student and so on a very limited income and so I really do see this as an investment piece of make-up as it is quite pricey in comparasion to some other brands. It really is a quality product, and after reading another persons review on how they thought quite thick and can only recomemd they returned it to the store ( however sadly it is probably to late for that). I find that when I apply the macara it both lenghens my lashes and 'fans them out', resulting in my lashes appearing much thicker and well prettier than they really are!
You often see the adverts on tv about about weird and wacky different brush heads, well this mascara is just a normal brush head, it is quite narrow and long which probably what gives your lashes that fanned out affect.
Personly I usualy put on 2 coats of it if i'm dressing up or just the 1 when I'm wanting to look more natural on an every day basis.
Hope this helps somebody
i purchased this mascara while it was on special in house of fraser and i can truthfull say it is the worst mascara i have ever had and it went in the bin after 2 weeks a was gutted as i have paid a lot for this mascara compared to what a normal paid for my mascaras.
the only reason i paid so much for this as a though it would have lasted me a long time i it would be good qulitey but a was truly rwrong and have since gone back to used cheaper brands suck as rimmel and so on which as 100% better in every way.
when i first tried out it was really watery and a was going to work that day so i just have light makeup on and i just applyed i light eye makeup to my eyes, it went really clumpy and it stung my eyes. it just clumg to the eyes on my lashes and maed them all stuck together people at work could not believe how much a paid for the mascare and the quilety was crap and really not worth the money i paid for it it was a complete waste of money1.
I paid around 25 pound and the mascara was on special at the time i bought it i got a free eye make up remover (sample size) and 2 eyes mask which were a was a total; waste of time as it went straight in the bin it was dryed out and had a funny smell to it.
a latery send a email of complaint to the house of fraser branch as i could not get a email/ phone number and a got a phone call from the adviver who total me the mascara wpuld be best from me and all a can say is she was really snotty and did nothink so slove the matter but one thing sh did do was hung up the phone very rudly.
i hope my review have been helpful to you and saves you from wasting money.
I love this product. I am a bit of a fan of Estee Lauder products. Out of all of the Premium Brands, I return again and again to the Estee Lauder counter. Not just for the Double Wear Foundation, I also buy the Magnascopic Maximum Volume Mascara.
As a day to day mascara, it is superb. It adds length to your lashes without building a massive amount of thickness to them, and it has never clumped on me yet. I love the brush - the thin swirl of bristles gives a good, even coating of mascara, separating each lash and painting it with length and just the right amount of volume. Available in brown or black shades, it is ideal.
The packaging is the classically elegant blue and gold that Estee Lauder utilises on all of its products. Simple and stylish, it doesn't look out of place in any make up bag or on a dressing table.
As for the duration, I put it on first thing in the morning and it is still there when I take it of at night. Just what you want from a mascara.
The price was reasonable for a premium brand - around £19 - and it lasts for absolutely ages. I would certainly buy this again.
**** Estee Lauder Magnascopic Maximum Volume Mascara ****
Until recently i was forever on the look out for a great mascara until i came across the lancome l'extreme one. My only problem with it was the price so i was happy to receive this one as a sample as it is slightly cheaper but a brand i really like.
**About Estee lauder**
Estee Lauder is a high quality brand that sells products such as cosmetics and makeup. The prices tend not to be that cheap but because the quality is good i think they are worth it.
I think that the packaging for this range is very distinctive. Most of the products come in a navy blue colour with gold writing. This is no exception and the overall look is that of a high quality.
The mascara wand is very sturdy and i would rate it as being as good as the lancome one that i tried.
I did quite like the overall effect of this mascara ie it did make my eye lashes look longer however i did find it extremely easy to get mascara on my eye lids and i think that this is due to the brush being quite thick. It is not water proof which means on a plus side that it removes rather easily.
Overall i would rank this as being my 2nd favourite mascara of all time. It costs around the £15 mark which is average for a good mascara. The reason i wouldn't buy it is because if i am going to spend this much on mascara i would rather get the lancome one.
I have tried many premium brand mascaras (YSL, Versace, Dior to name but a few) and none have ever compared to this. The YSL Faux Cils that my friends raved about I found went claggy after being used a few times whereas this lasts for ages despite being used daily. It makes my lashes look unbelievably long and thick and it is the first mascara I have found which noticeably and dramatically lengthens and thickens without you having to put masses on. I only have to replace it every few months so I only buy it 3 or 4 times a year at the most, whereas with cheaper brands I was replacing them at least monthly so it actually works out very cost effective for me. The brush does not get clumped with old mascara and you get just as good a look whether it is a brand new tube or one nearly finished which is what I love the most about it.
I have said it before and I will say it again, I love Estee Lauder and their luxury cosmetics. After receiving my array of Estee Lauder cosmetics for christmas from my husband I have been enjoying perusing them at leisure and trying them all out. Some of the items included in my christmas gift box have been new to me and so I have had the pleasure of experimenting with them and trying them out. One of these such products is the Estee Lauder Magnascopic Maximum Volume Mascara.
I have tried many brands of mascaras over the years, too many to mention. But, one thing I am sure of is that it must be black. I am aware that there are many other colours now available on the market but I definately prefer black.
As I have got a little older my needs have changed, cosmetic wise and I expect more from the cosmetics that I buy. There are more and more products on the market now so how do you know which is the best for you? By simple trial and error. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another but I have found over the years that the cheaper brands of cosmetics are not very good for your skin and often enough don't perform as expected.
Estee Lauder currently sell a round eight different types of mascara. Each mascara has been designed to do a specific job. Lengthen, curl, volumise, define, and also be smudge free, you name it they make it. This particular mascara is designed to expand your lashes by up to 300%, creating the illusion of thicker lashes whilst being safe for people who wear contact lenses and is also fragrance free. The technology behind this is their new expandex formula which creates the fuller look.
Presented in their traditional dark blue colour way with the tell tale gold band it is shaped like a chunky fountain pen. This actually in my opinion makes it slightly awkward to hold but easier to find in the make-up bag. The applicator wand is very sturdy and the actual bristles are very closely knitted together which helps to apply the product with more density. The mascara is quite thick in consistency and on application lashes do appear darker (assuming you are using the black), fuller and longer. The colour is very dark and intense and is the first black mascara I have used to be this rich in colour. The product is quite thick as I said before and therefore a lash primer maybe of benefit before use of this mascara to help prevent clumps on application. This product is not waterproof but is simple enough to remove with either eye make-up remover or warm water and a facial wash. I have not had any eye irritation which can occur with some mascaras leaving you itching ferosiously at your eyes and a mad dash to the bathroom to remove it.
As with all Estee Lauder products they come at a price and this mascara is no exception, you can purchase direct from Estee Lauder themselves for £17.13 for 9ml. It is currently available in two colour ways, black and brown.
I like this product but in truth am undecided as to whether I prefer it over another of their mascaras, the projectionist high definition volume mascara. It is slighter thinner in consistency which enables me to apply the product easier but it is not as rich in colour or appears as dense. It is the same coincidentally in price too. The lash primer I spoke of earlier is available for £14.68 and helps to condition your lashes and strengthen them and elongate them.
I think this is a fairly good product but I am unlikely to buy this myself mainly due to the cost. I also disliked that it was quite so thick in consistency. But, on the plus side I liked that the colour was so very rich and intense and lashes appeared fuller and longer and that it removed so easily. The applicator wand applied the product smoothly but due to the fact the product was so thick it ment clumps could occur easily. Not the best mascara I have ever used but not the worst either.
Thanks for reading.
