I am not a huge fan of Estee Lauder, although I have their eye make up remover and it is absolutely amazing! (However that is a completely different review lol.) Now and again they do these offer where it will be a gift with a purchase of perfume or on cosmetics over a certain price range. My mum recently received such a gift and inside one of the items was the Estee Lauder Pure Color lipstick. As I have mentioned in previous reviews my lips aren't really good with lipstick anyway (I think they are far too big!) but I thought I would give this a try since it was free!
The lipstick I have is no.46 "Barely Nude" in the Long Lasting Lipstick Rouge collection from Estee Lauder. My mum didn't feel it suited her lips as it was too dull and boring and thought it would be better suited to me....charming!
It comes in a gold casing, which looks and feels expensive, but for me that is the only aspect worth such a high price tag. The one I own, is more circular in casing (whereas the picture depicts it in more of a square shape based and throughout the shape of the lipstick tube) and has a removable lid which then reveals the lipstick which with a swivel of the base will erect the lipstick up to the level required for application.
The lipstick itself is very creamy in texture, and easy to apply. It comes initially in the usual shape of a slightly pointed tip for easy application, but I am absolutely awful at this and most certainly need some kind of lipliner to stop the lipstick bleeding over the barriers of where my lips are and causing an unsightly mess! However, using it is easy and it glides on without being flaky. I find I only need to rub it quite lightly on my lips for a decent amount to transfer on without my lips being too coated.
Now for the list of things I disappointingly don't like about this lipstick. Well for starters the colour is awful, but in terms of lipstick quality this is neither here or there. Putting it on my lips, they feel awfully sticky and I found it irritating and that my lips would constantly stick together when talking, whereas I have used other lipsticks without a top coat of it and it hasn't been as sticky as this one.
Next up, it was surprisingly hard to get rid of! In terms of longevity I guess this is a good thing, as most people don't really want lipstick that will rub off in 5 minutes or transfer onto a drinking glass/clothes etc with too much ease, but since I wasn't too much of a big fan of it (and given that I didn't think I even put that much on in the first place) it was annoying me to be scrubbing away at my lips to remove this!
Lastly, I found it smells strange. I am not the least bit a lipstick expert but it just seems to smell of plastic....weird.
Overall, I am not too happy with this lipstick and really really doubt I would ever pay the £19.50 it is supposedly worth according to the Estee Lauder website. I have experienced far better from much cheaper brands and so won't be rushing out to get this again, and I am not so convinced as to recommend it to anyone else either :(
I've worn lipstick since my late teens following an introduction to the Rimmel range. My tastes changed some years later when the majority of my purchases were made from the Boots No 7 range, which I've used for approximately 15 years. A couple of years ago when visiting the Estee Lauder counter to purchase two bottles of eau de parfum I was handed a beautiful gift bag containing a number of full sized Estee Lauder make-up items. One of the products was a lipstick, which I started using during the summer of last year. Whilst its appearance significantly differs from the tube that you can buy, the contents are identical and this review discusses Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick.
The lipstick I own is named Sugar Honey although my review will be based on the quality of the product as per Dooyoo's category as opposed to the shade. The first thing I noticed when gently unwinding the lipstick to enable it to rise was the luxurious aroma that it delivered, which always takes me back to my childhood where my late grandmother would use top quality designer lipsticks. The product is easily applied to my lips due to its creamy texture and I use it on its own rather than initially applying a lip liner. The fact that it is effortlessly applied evidences to me that it is a high quality product and I am unable to witness any heaviness or greasiness on my lips, which is something I cannot bear when it comes to lipstick.
The staying power is good and the colour does not fade throughout the day and as I always have a glass of water next to me, particularly when in the office I don't want to be reapplying my lipstick each time I take a drink. However, when making a comparison with Boots No 7 lipsticks I cannot advise that the staying power is longer lasting and both brands are on a par as far as I am concerned. An issue I detest with lipsticks is bleeding and fortunately, this is something that has never occurred with this product, but there again, I do not experience the problem with Boots No. 7. The lipstick is moisturising, so there is no dryness after using and to remove at the end of the day I give my lips a quick wipe with a clean tissue.
Despite only having approximately a centimetre remaining in my tube it has lasted me well although I must admit that I tend to alternate with shades dependent upon what I am wearing and the weather. It has retained its shape without snapping and it has ticked every box as far as a high quality lipstick is concerned. However, the £18.50 price tag for a 3.8g tube of lipstick is a little excessive especially when I compare it to Boots No 7, which cost £10 per tube and are frequently on a 3 for 2 promotion. Whilst this is a huge variety of shades catering for different needs Estee Lauder's Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick is too expensive for me to make a single purchase and as a result, it loses a star from me.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
Estee Lauder is one of the manufacturer of high-end quality cosmetic products. Its products tend to be very expensive so I don't usually buy them. However, I got my treat of cosmetics from estee lauder when they were doing a promotion where you get a wonderful goody bag full for £50.00 if you buy two products from their stand. It seemed expensive but it comes with a blush set, brushes, four lipsticks and a golden make-up bag. The lipstick I'm reviewing is one from the goody bag.
Appearance-wise, it comes in a solid golden tube with a shiny tint to it. It's different from the picture shown because it's made for the promotion. It has the 'estee lauder - EL' logo in a calligraphy writing on the top of the lid with the description of the colour and other information on the bottom. I've been using the lipstick for about 3 months now and I have yet to experience a fade in the colour of the tube or imperfections. I have to say it is one of the best quality lipstick tube material I've had. Also it looks lovely in my bag, with it's classy and sophisticated look.
The colour I'm using now is '61 - Pink/Parfait'. Personally I think it's too pale for my complexion. The colour is very similar to pale pink rose petals. There is a slight shimmering on the lips and you can see the speckle of glitters if you look closely in the mirror. I wouldn't choose this colour again but the quality of the lipstick itself is very good.
The description says 'long lasting colour'; I would have to disagree with the statement. From my experience, it would last from 2-4 hours without prolonged consumption of food but it does need re-applying after a meal. To be honest, it is like that with any other 'long-lasting' lipsticks so it's not really an issue for me. Nevertheless, what I love about this lipstick is that it feels so soft and smooth on my lips as well as moisturise my lips. Usually I have to use a gloss over my lipsticks because it's not moisturising enough, but the estee lauder pure colour earn full points from me for its moisturising effect.
I can't say for the price because I bought it as part of the goody bag but I believe it is being retailed for around £18.00 - £20.00. Therefore, compared to other lipsticks around £12 to £15 most, it certainly is expensive. However, the quality is very good so it would make a nice treat for someone.
This is a review of the shade I have: 'Crystal Baby'.
I haven't really tried many estee products before, but I'd heard great things about their pure color lipstick and so decided to give one a go. They are rather expensive at £18 for a 3.8g lipstick (mac £13.50 for 3.0g) but I think you're partly paying for the gorgeous packaging.
The lipstick itself comes in a lovely navy blue metallic effect box with golden writing across it and a little 'peep hole' near the bottom to see the colour. When you open it you get an almost vintage-esque looking lipstick tube, reminiscent of the time when make up was a luxury item available to only the rich few and ladies would revere their powder and lipstick the same as their jewellery.
The bottom half is clear plastic, within which there is a frosted, plastic pearlised rounded section coloured to be representative of the lipstick shade. The pearlised effect of the plastic is a bit misleading, as the lipstick itself has no shimmer or pearl. The square 'EL' Estee Lauder logo on the front of the lipstick is actually quite a nifty little design feature, when you put the lid back on it slides half way down the back of this square and secures the lid VERY well. I just gave it a really robust shake and the lid was not going anywhere, it's definitely handbag proof, more secure than my Mac lipsticks.
Onto the lipstick shade. Crystal baby in the tube looks like a mid tone peach with some brown tones. On me (I'm fairly pale, with moderately pigmented lips) it works as a great everyday peachy-brown nude, with the emphasis more on the peach.
When you swatch it on your hand it is a VERY sheer peach colour. It's not highly pigmented at all, even though the cover is buildable, so if you like a more pigmented lipstick then this isn't for you. If however you're a bit lipstick phobic and like your tinted lip balms then you will LOVE this. It feels so nice on my lips, I honestly just feel like I've got a lip balm on and not a lipstick because my lips feel extremely moisturised and kissable. I constantly find myself pressing my lips together to get a feel of the lipstick and despite doing this constantly for hours there's still lipstick there... amazing!
Overall, this really is a great lipstick. Yes at £18 it's not cheap but if you want to treat yourself and add a little luxury to your make up routine then this really is worth the money in my honest opinion.
Estee Lauder lipstick
I wanted a light lipstick for the summer months and when I found this one in Crystal Rose it seemed to fit the bill.
I bought this from a department store and it cost around the £20 mark which seems rather steep but I always like products in this range so knew it would probably be good quality. I bought mine in Debenhams but it is available in other large department stores and also online- shop around for the best deals.
I must be a bit shallow because one of the things I liked about the lipstick was the packaging. The lipstick has a large gold coloured lid which pulls off and the bottom is glass so that the colour of the lipstick can be clearly seen;in this case a very light pink. To get the lip stick out of the base I just have to twist the bottom and the lipstick comes out of its casing.
When I apply it, the lipstick glides onto lips easily and because it has pearl pigments it has an almost pearlescent shine to it-not flat at all but quite shimmery. with a beautiful glow. It is quite a pale pink but not so pale that it looks really obvious, rather a pale lip colour pink, which means that I can wear it day or night. Can be worn alone or with a matching shade of Pure Color Crystal Gloss, although I haven't tried using another shade with the lip colour.
It makes no claims to last for specific lengths of time, but I tend to find that it doesn't need reapplying too often, although it does come off onto glasses and cups when having a drink, which I don't like at all. However, until I eat or drink, it does stay put and leaves my lips feeling moisturised.
Available in several different colours, so there should be a colour for most people.
A good quality lip stick. It moisturises my lips, has a nice shine and is long lasting enough for what I want.
I would recommend this lipstick because although the initial outlay is quite steep, it does last forages.
Thanks for reading
Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick retails at £16.50, can be bought from the Estee Lauder website or from high street shops such as Debenhams, Browns etc. As well as writing to review I just want to point out somethings which have changed since previous reviews were written and my differing opinion. On with the show:-
Estee Lauder describe this as a 'satin shine' lippy, which I think is rather over exaggerated considering its actual effect is rather subtle in the shine department. I have read a some reviews on this product which claim they experienced a shimmering effect and I hasten to add that I did not notice any 'shimmering' despite using the same colour (Pink Berry) and the lipsticks in this range do not contain any metallic pigmentation or flecks. Additionally this colour is now available to purchase and not just as a sample. It does transfer rather badly - as my mug soon found out! - and is one of the few lipsticks I would advise against blotting. Although it somewhat seemed the lipstick was absorbed into my lips and some colour always remained regardless of how much my coffee mug was decorated! Its claimed long lasting ability, in reality is not so long lasting, more like an hour, or two if you're lucky. Rather confusingly the packaging for the product has changed too many times to remember, which is quite irritating as you are never quite sure what you're looking for in the shop.
Ironically when all I've said is bad things I actually do like this lipstick. It has a very natural look due to it subtle shine and doesn't look out of place or over powering. It has a rich, creamy feel to it once applied and is moisturising in its over all effect. This moisturising properties keeps your lips soft and healthy and doesn't feel or look dried and cracked. It is perfect for an every day lipstick where you have the leisure of been able to apply once every hour or so, as it feels much nicer than some of the 'real' long lasting lipsticks which can be drying and hard.
I can't help but feel that Estee Lauder should of marketed this as a moisturising lippy, as it does this better than its claimed 'long lasting' ability. Despite it not totally living up to its claims I will still be spending my hard earned money over the Estee Lauder counter again, and of course claiming any free stuff that's thrown my way! I think Estee Lauder as a high end cosmetic brand can be trusted to deliver quality in their products and I am always usually happy with any 'blind' purchases I make from them, likewise I am with this.
Loss of 1 star due to not living up to it's long lasting claim.
I've never really been a big fan of lipsticks, I'm much more of a lipgloss or Vaseline girl, however I recently purchased a Ruby & Millie lipstick and was really really impressed, so I've been giving a few other lipsticks a try.
This Estee Lauder lipstick was actually free in one of their buy two products and get a free gift offer.
**Estee Lauder **
Estee Lauder was founded in 1946, with the belief that every woman can be beautiful. They aim to advertise their products to show women who are beautiful, but that their beauty is achievable by anybody using the right products. They are keen supporters of the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign and have a range of products where a donation from the sale is made to Breast Cancer Awareness. Estee Lauder are also aware of the environmental impact of their business and have taken steps to make sure that there products and factories are as envirnmentally friendly as possible.
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lipstick costs £16 to purchase from their website and is availible in a range of colours. The lipstick should provide a supershine finish, sheer coverage and crystal effects of the lipstick should create brilliance and dimension.
I was impressed by the size of the product I was given in my free gift, it was almost full sized. The colour I chose was 'pinkberry' which was a light pinky brown colour, I've noticed this doesn't seem to be one of the colours availible of the website which is a shame as it's a lovely colour.
The lipstick applies very easily and is absorbed well, it doesn't just sit on your lips waiting for the first coffee of the day to wipe it off. It has a lovely shimmery effect that you don't expect by looking at the lipstick itself. It has quite a thick texture, but it does look really natural on your lips, the colour was quite sheer as promised and seemed quite a natural colour on my lips as well.
The lipstick lasts well, it's still on my lips at lunch time, even if I've been drinking coffe likes it's going out of fashion. It's also very moisturising, which is great for me as I have very dry lips, it doesn't highlight any dry spots on your lips but glosses over them, I was really impressed by this as many lipsticks only work if your lips are perfect otherwise they just highlight the dry spots and you look quite silly with it caked on your lips.
The lipstick container itself is fairly heavy duty and doesn't look any worse for wear from being battered in my handbag all day every day. It's not the most exciting packaging I've ever seen, but it is quite classy - dark blue with the bit that you twist to bring the lipstick up (sorry I don't know if it has a proper name!) is gold.
All in all I'm really impressed by this lipstick, the colour is absolutely perfect for me and if I wear it for a few days straight then I can really tell the difference, my lips felt really smooth and moisturised. It's long lasting too which is really important, there's nothing worse than taking a mouthful of coffee and realising that yep, your cup is now wearing your lipstick.
It is quite pricey, but the Estee Lauder website always have some great offers or free gifts to go with your purchase, it's also worth keeping an eye out for free delivery codes- sign up to their website to keep yourself informed.
I bought Estee Lauder pure color long lasting lipstick and I love it. It is the best lipstick that I have ever tried and I have tried many lipsticks over the years.
I first bought it two years ago at the airport going on holiday abroad.
It is pure luxury to put on as it glides on and you can feel its rich moisturising quality, it smells lovely, it comes in lovely colours and when its put on it lasts until the next day.
I always have an extra one as a backup because I wouldn't use anything else now.
You have to try this product for yourself and you definately won't be disappointed. I just wish that I had found it years ago. It makes you feel glamourous.
In all, this lipstick is sheer heaven and worth every penny. It even comes in a lovely casing and now all my friends and the females in my family use it.
Estee Lauder in my opinion sell some of the most luxurious cosmetics available on the market today. I have tried and tested many a lipstick of theirs over the years and have still to choose a favourite shade. It's not that I am fussy or indecisive it's just that they keep on introducing so many wonderful shades I just have to try them all.
I have probably tried about ten shades in all over the years, which, is not all of them, as they currently have 24 in this range.
The packaging may have changed a few times (it was originally blue when I purchased my first ever lipstick from Estee Lauder) and even the picture above is ever so slightly different from my current lipsticks from this range.
Currently the Pure Color long lasting lipsticks are encased completely in gold coloured metal offering the consumer something of a more visually opulent purchase, but, for a fair price.
The lipstick casing is completely tubular and has a high sheen to it but not a mirror finish. The Estee Lauder branding can be found in embossed on the pull off lid of the lipstick and on the bottom a long with the Pure Color number and colour.
As I said before there are 24 colours in this collection, so ideally there should be something for every one. Colours range from Pink Parfait a hot pink to Classic Red. My current favourites are Bois De Rose, Rose Tea and Sugar Honey.
The lipsticks themselves all have a high sheen, are really smooth and creamy in texture and glide on easily avoiding too many costly mistakes. They feel really moisturising and do not drag the lip at all during application. The lipstick colours are incredibly rich and deep and luxurious. They each have a slight after taste but nothing offensive.
They do not last all day and repeat applications will be necessary which may go a little against the long lasting color statement from Estee Lauder themselves, although they do not actually say how long they should last and I have not been disappointed with the actual amount of time that they do. The lipsticks will remain for a fair while, four hours at best without eating or anything else that may allow the product to transfer, as they are not transfer resistant.
Estee Lauder's High Gloss Ultra Brilliance lip glosses match up and complement these lipsticks perfectly allowing you to achieve more looks and represent great value for money.
I think these lipsticks represent great value for money at £14.68 and offer a wide variety of choice and expertise all from the world renowned brand that is Estee Lauder.
These lipsticks are also award winning too, winning best lipstick 2007 from the Woman and Home readers awards.
You can purchase these lipsticks in all good department stores, such as Debenhams, or on line at esteelauder.co.uk where all purchases receive two complementary samples for you to choose from. Delivery is minimal, but, is free if purchases calculate to over £75.00
The service I have received from Estee Lauder themselves is second to none and I have no hesitation in recommending these Pure Color lipstcks. Go on, treat yourself.
Thanks for reading.
This Estee Lauder lipstick is available for about £14.00 or £15.00 (depending where you buy it from) and is available from esteelauder.co.uk and any large Boots store and department stores.
I got one of these lipsticks a couple of years ago but they've changed the packaging a year or two ago so mine is housed in a dark blue tube and not the gold with see through plastic at the bottom where you can see the shade in a dome shape. I actually prefer the new packaging as it looks nicer in my opinion and you're able to find what colour you're looking for a lot easier as it's visible at the bottom of the tube and it saves having to open them one by one or trying to read the little sticker at the bottom of the tube.
So I got mine in the shade pink berry and according to their website, they still have this shade as part of their permanent collection. The lipstick I own is a cream and looks quite matte on. The colour is very rich and pretty on and it's a very soft berry pink colour that looks quite natural on me. It looks like my lip colour but with a hint of berry so I like to wear this when I'm going for a more natural and nude colour look.
They also have other types and finishes in this range as not all pure colour are cream formulas. Some have a bit of a sparkle, some are more sheer with a bit of a gloss effect to them and others have a frost finish.
I haven't really ventured into buying any other shades as I tried one of my mums and didn't really like it. The colour on the bottom of the tube (that's meant to show you what colour you're about to put on) looked very pretty and had a pearl sheen and when I put it on my lips, I didn't find that it looked anything like the demo at all.
So I guess it's best to try them before you buy and don't let the MA pressure you into getting something you won't end up using anyway. (I sometimes struggle with this but have learnt now LOL). They're a bit pricey but if you find one that you love (like me and my pink berry shade) it's well worth it.
I am a big fan of Estee Lauder cosmetics in general, and an even bigger lipstick fan. I think you could call me a lipstick addict, Im forever applying the stuff! I tried the Pure Colour Long Lasting Lipstick, as I saw a colour in it that I really liked. I have to say I was not completely satisfied with the product, and as far as lipsticks go, I have had better.
The colour range is wide and there is a colour to suit every taste and skin tone, so no complaints there. It is soft, doesnt taste funny (as some lipsticks can do), and glides on really easy and smooth. It cpmes in a really nice gold coloured square shaped tube, and looks quite glamorous.
The bit I do have the problem with is the longevity of it. I find it really does not last very long at all, and after a cup of coffee, there is more on the side of the cup, than on my lips. That means having to reapply a few times during the day, and in my view that is not what you want from a lipstick that calls itself Long Lasting.
At around £15, it is quite steep, and I cant say that I believe it is worth the price.
Im a big fan of Estee lauder make up and have tried most of their range. I originally bought this lipstick for my wedding day as it was a nice subtle colour and felt moisturising. Although I liked it at the time I probably wont be buying it again unless they make a version which dosnt come off as easily as it does tend to slide off and is a little to soft for my liking as I can never seem to apply it so that it looks neat at the contours of my lips and lasts a few hours.
The packaging, like most of Estee Lauder make up is classic and expensive looking. I would advise waiting till Estee Lauder run their "gift time" promotions where you buy 2 products and get lots of samples for free to try. Its about £15 for this lipstick and most Boots, Debenhams and House of Frazer stores run these promotions throughout the year. Check out "gift time" on their website for dates.
I have fulfilled a life-long ambition (um, a rather minor one, but an ambition nonetheless) - I have finally found the perfect lipstick! I must admit, I was initially concerned about the price (£14.00). I have purchased many expensive lipsticks before, but found when I got home that the texture was too dry or sticky, or the colour didn't suit me. However, Estee Lauder Pure Color lipstick is worth every penny! I chose 'Beige', which I admit sounds fairly dreadful on paper, but is actually a natural pinky-brown shade. The lipstick glides on smoothly and gives good coverage - occasionally I get dry patches on my lips and find that most lip colours "clump" over the dry patches in a very unbecoming manner, leaving me with gooey, darker spots - NOT glamorous! This one is incredibly moisturising, and is also quite long-lasting for a cream lip colour. The packaging is solid and glam too - with gold being very much the theme. The shade is perfect for me - several sales assistants at different counters have commented that my lip colour suits me. Nothing like a compliment to brighten one's day! Of course, the Christian Dior lady was probably a little put-out when she asked which lipstick I used! A truly great product. Definitely the best lip colour I have ever used.
No this isn’t an introduction to a porn site….it’s a lipstick. I was fed up with lipsticks that dry your lips and are uncomfortable to wear, there’s nothing worse than having a smooch with your beau and having lips like heavy-duty sandpaper. One night I had been out for a few drinks with my friends. When I came home I was feeling…. Well a little amorous shall we say, so I jumped on my other half in a fit of passion! He kissed me but pulled away. I was not happy. He explained that my lipstick felt like I had been eating dirt (which of course I hadn’t). So I removed it and was then allowed a kiss (ahhhhh). I binned the offending lipstick…… And I went on a voyage of discovery, a voyage to find a good moisturizing lip colour. And I did…. I recently brought (well treated) myself to a Pure Colour lipstick in Crystal Orchid (one of several shades in the Crystal range), a fantastic, sheer lipstick, which is in plum tones, has a excellent iridescent quality and feels like silk on your lips. It's not greasy or gunky but very light and soft, it has the best texture of any lipstick I have ever tried. It also seems to leave your lips moisturized, which is always a good benefit. I never normally wear plum tone lipsticks but this colour is wonderful, I think it would suit most skin tones, as the consistency is so light. Even my boyfriend has commented on the colour, and he rarely notices anything like that! It is excellent for daywear, and fantastic at night set with a rich lip liner. It also goe's well with this seasons Smokey eyes trend. A must have luxury! One thing I should point out and that’s the fantastic packaging, I’m not normally fussed about what a product comes in but this is different. It comes in a beautiful case the bottom part is transparent so you can see the enclosed colour (it makes it look like a
gem stone) the pull off part at the top is in a rich gold plated metal and caries the Estee Lauder logo. This will say a lot when it’s seen in your handbag. I'll be asking for more colours at Christmas. I have had a lot of comments about it, so the quality obviously shows. Now I am quite confident when I say, “pucker up big boy”
I decided to buy a Pure Color lipstick due to a recommendation in a magazine that these were really great lipsticks and were used by Kylie Minogue in one of her recent videos. As I am a sucker for anything someone famous has used I decided to try one out. I bought the shade Bois de Rose which is a mid pink natural colour. it glides on really well and the colour is true to what you have bought (not like some lipticks that change colour on your lips). The packaging is chunky and gold and looks expensive (which I also love). There are loads of shades so you are bound to find the right colour for you and the consistency of the lipsticks is lovely (not too drying but they seem to stay put - usually re-apply it 2 times)
