Advantages: Gives very good coverage, and is made from minerals.
Disadvantages: No UK site but postage is reasonable and arrives quickly.
Mineral make-up is one of those things in the world of cosmetics that started off small and is now everywhere, with lots of different companies offering some form of mineral make-up and lots of companies who ONLY produce and sell mineral make-up.
Having previously loved Bare Minerals foundation, I noticed the name 'Everyday Minerals' cropping up online. When visiting their website I was pleased to see they give out free samples of their make-up, and you can choose the ones you want to try, all for the cost of postage. I decided to do this and one of the samples I wanted to try was something from there concealer range.
Everyday Minerals are found at www.everydayminerals.com and are based in the US, and don't have a UK website. You can however order from the site and have your order delivered to the UK.
Everyday Minerals state they have a 'pledge' to you, the consumer, and the planet. The pledge reads as this:
"Everyday Minerals seeks to include the highest quality, all-natural and organic products sourced from sustainable environments across the globe, and to eliminate toxins and engineered material in our products."
Looking on their website they do all kinds of make-up from foundations to blusher, and make-up for eyes and lip balm for, well, lips. They even do a range of pressed make-up for people who just don't like powder. They make their own range of make-up brushes too, which are ideal for use with mineral make-up.
On the home page of the website you will notice in bold a box saying 'Free Samples Get 'Em Now' and this is what drew me into trying something from the Everyday Minerals range. Here you can order a Free Sample Makeup Kit. In your kit you can choose 3 sample sized foundations in any colour and formula, a sample sized blush and a concealer. I happily choose each of my samples, which was very easy to do, and simply paid the postage which wasn't too expensive at all. It arrived in the UK quite quickly.
When looking on the Conceal section of the website you will notice a good range of concealers and shades to choose from, and when you hover over any of the shades it brings up a short description of that concealer and what it's best used for. I opted for the 'Intensive Concealer Fair' as it states that it's perfect for fair skin and works great on under eyes, blemishes and redness. Considering I use my concealers mainly to cover up blemishes and blemish scars this sounded perfect for me.
The concealer arrived and was in a small tub which contained 1g of the concealer. I had never used a powder form concealer before, always using a liquid style or a concealer stick so this one was a first for me. To apply the concealer I used my BareMinerals concealer brush, however Everyday Minerals also produce a concealer brush which is only priced at $6 so you may wish to purchase this one.
I was surprised when I unscrewed the lid as there's alot of powder packed into this small tub. I gently dipped my concealer brush in and tapped off the excess before dabbing the brush onto the areas of my face I wanted to conceal. Straight away I was impressed. The powder was nice and thick, and certainly 'Intensive' as the name suggests! It was very easy to apply and didn't fall off my face. I found it easy to blend in using the brush and it certainly covered up the problem areas very well, however it wasn't noticeable that I was wearing this concealer at all!
I didn't need to add much of the powder to the brush to get the effect I desired. In fact I found a little certainly goes a long way with this one, and I have noticed my 'sample sized' pot is lasting me a long time! I have been so impressed with the results I had decided to buy the full size, but as of yet I haven't had a need to as the sample sized pot is lasting me nicely. You're probably wondering what's stopping me from ordering another sample of this concealer, but unfortunately you can only order one sample of each product type! Makes sense though really.
Throughout the day I noticed this concealer held well and didn't wear off, unless I rubbed my face (which I do sometimes have a habit of doing!) Compared to normal concealer that I use, whether they're liquid or in a stick form, I would say this powder does as good a job, if not better, considering it's made from minerals and doesn't contain any of the chemicals and ingredients you would find in normal products. For this reason I'm not concerned when I do cover up any spots or blemishes using this powder as it certainly doesn't make them any worse, and nor does it block my pores up and cause me to breakout as liquid concealers can do!
To summarise, this powder concealer from Everyday Minerals feels light, but does a great job at concealing blemishes and red areas or applying under your eyes. It's long lasting and contains minerals without any nasty chemicals. If you are interested in giving mineral make-up a try I would certainly recommend giving their free sample make up kit a try, you do only get small pots however with mineral make-up a little goes a long way and so these are perfect for finding the right shade for you.

Summary: A good product from the Everyday Minerals range.

- 11/07/09 This does sound really good, but how much does it cost for a full sized pot? I couldn't find that information in your review. Congratulations on the crown. |
