Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner Pen
Advantages: Easy to use, great look, fab product
Disadvantages: Internet order only from what I've seen
If like me, you have shaky hands, you'll find that applying liquid eyeliner to the upper eyelids can be a nightmare. That tiny brush just seems to take on a life of its own, and by the time I'm finished, I have eyeliner half way up my eyelids. Just not a good look. So when Groupon recently had a deal on Eyeko makeup and I saw this graffiti pen on the website, I took a chance on it in the hope that it would be easier to apply than the other liquid eyeliners on the market.
When I received my Eyeliner Pen, I was surprised and amused to see that it genuinely looked like a felt tip pen. The nib is very thin, which is great for adding points of detail like a flick to an upper eye application of eyeliner. The 'ink' flow is very good, and gives a great, dark colour to an upper eyelid application. The Graffiti Eyeliner Pen comes in three different colours: black, purple or blue. I opted for black as that is the colour I use most often, and so I cannot comment on how the other two would look when applied, but I should imagine you would see similar results.
In terms of application, I have found that the Eyeliner Pen is certainly easier to apply than a liquid eyeliner with a brush end. Although my shaky hands do still cause me to make the odd mistake, I find that the sturdiness of a pen nib makes it a lot easier to apply the eyeliner than free moving brush bristles. The technique I tend to use to apply eyeliner on the upper eyelid is to gently pull the skin at the corner of my eye outwards so that the upper lid essentially almost looks like a straight line. I then draw a line on the lid to mark how high I want the eyeliner to go on the lid, and then to fill in the gap between eyelashes and the line drawn by 'colouring in' the area with the pen.
I have found that this eyeliner does not smudge once dry (and it does dry incredibly fast!) and will last all day once applied. This is something that is important to me, personally, as I have applied traditional eyeliners to the upper lids in the past and have found that they smudge horribly. Even better is the fact that, despite its longevity during the day, the Eyeliner Pen is easily removed with make up remover, and even a make up wipe will easily remove the make up completely.
The Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner Pen retails at £5.50. However when I last accessed the website, it appeared to be out of stock. This is the only disadvantage I can think of with regard to this product - I have never seen the range on the high street, and having to order over the internet is slightly annoying. I know most people like to see a product and perhaps test it on their hand before taking the plunge and buying, and I know I would not have thought of buying from the website had I not been able to get the products for a discount price. However, in this case, the gamble was definitely worth it. I would be happy to use this product again, but if I found a similar product on the high street, I would probably just opt for that instead.
