Sleek Crème To Powder Foundation
by Kirsty_89
DESCRIPTION
This is a foundation product by Sleek makeup. It's a "crème to powder" foundation and it's stored in a small compact complete with mirror. The crème to powder range is available is a very wide range of shades which is good to see because a lot of foundations don't cover enough bases in my opinion. The ... foundation claims to be able to give you a "natural flawless look". The foundation is also oil free which some people will find a positive and it also has SPF 15 inside to protect your skin from sun damage.
PACKAGING
Sleek packaging is quite eye catching even though their packages are predominantly black, they still look very stylish and expensive. This compact is a matt black colour with gold writing for the name of the product. On the bottom of the compact is a sticker that will state your shade and number in my case - White Rose 702
PRICE
You can currently purchase these crème to powder compacts from Superdrug for £7.99. For ages I was using Max Factor's Second Skin Foundation which I think I used to pay £14.99 for and so I felt this was a good price for a foundation. I always tend to pay extra for foundation because the cheaper ones tend to disappoint me, it's a shame because I'm forever buying cheap mascaras, nail varnishes and eye shadows etc as I feel they still live up to my expectations.
PERFORMANCE
In terms of performance I would say this foundation does pretty well. I've read a few reviews online saying that people feel it's too thick and they can't create a coverage without looking like it's caked on but I personally haven't had this problem. I tend to put two fingers of one hand in the crème, swirl them round 3 times then do the same with two fingers from my other hand, I then pat the foundation on my left cheek, right cheek, fore head and chin then swirl my fingers round my face creating an even coverage. I don't feel as though I need a lot of the product to achieve a good coverage but I would use more of the product if I was going for a night out just to look more flawless.
As for it's claim of making you look "naturally flawless" I think that's a silly statement in itself that is batted around a lot, you can't really (if we're all honest) look both "natural" and "flawless" however I do feel that this foundation when used correctly gives you that sort of "not wearing make up when you are wearing make up" look.
My only slight gripe with this product is that is sometimes flakes on my forehead, never on any other part of my face but I would put this down to my skin type and this can often be corrected by just adding a bit of moisturiser. Another small downside is that because it's a crème I don't feel as though I am getting as much product for my money. I'm new to crème foundations and would usually purchase liquid foundation and so I am not sure if I have been fully converted.
STAYING POWER
As far as I can tell the staying power is pretty good. I've worn the foundation in a thin layer all day at university and it hasn't budged, I haven't had chance to test this foundation for a night out yet though but I would feel confident enough in trying it.
OVERALL
Overall a good foundation which matches my skin type and provides a lot of shades to help you find your own match! I like the fact it comes with a mirror in case you need to touch up your foundation and it's also perfectly handbag sized. I do however feel a lot more comfortable using liquid foundations and so this sleek compact has remained in my handbag for "touch up purposes" rather than doing my normal make up. Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation
by katyj10
I took a punt on this foundation when I saw it as I was getting stocked up in the make up department for work. I do like to keep a few different foundations in for how I feel of a morning in the make up stakes. Sometimes I use a mineral foundation for speed, other times a tinted moisturiser for dry skin and full coverage foundation when ... I feel like I need a polished finish. This foundation fits in to the third category for me as a full coverage foundation and I have tried other Maybelline products before with successful results.
Description
The foundation comes in a 50 ml air pressurised bottle with a clear cap. To use you just press down the nozzle and the product comes out... fast. I will go in to more detail in the next section on this. The colour I chose was 030 sand but there were a few neutral colours to choose from. I went by guess work on the names for this as there were no samples to try in the shop.
In use
The colour match turned out to be perfect for my skin, with yellow tones in it that help to neutralise any redness and cover up any marks such as spots or darker skin spots (I have these after pregnancy, a bit of pigmentation that I like to cover up when I go out). Whilst I was expecting something a bit foamy as per the title 'Nude Airfoam' I was really not expecting it to come out like shaving foam but it did and the first few times I got far too much product out of the bottle than I wanted or needed and there is no way of putting it back in there. After a few uses I became better at getting less out but it still foams to massive proportions. I use a sponge to apply which works well and it does seem to go on to the skin nicely. I have to wait a couple of minutes before it feels dry and I can progress to applying other makeup or getting dressed.
Price
I bought my bottle of this for £2.99 from B&M a bargain store near me which is an expensive item for them but a price I am more than happy to play for a good supply of foundation.
My thoughts
I am not totally sold on this, I don't really like how messy it is to apply but I do like the way it looks on my skin so I will continue to use it. I think it's been a completely different product to try than those I am used to but it does feel like there is a lot of air in it as you are applying it (a bit like an aero or whispa bar!). It is a nice product that feels like it has moisturising products and it does sit lightly on the skin unlike some other full coverage foundations.
Final word
I would probably buy this again at the price above as I feel it is good value for money. If you don't mind a bit of a faff in your make up routine then I'd say give this a go, it's a nice quality product and a great brand with good neutral colours to choose from. Read the complete review |

Collection 2000 Natural Matt Foundation
by milmol7
As part of my extremely minimalist make-up bag, I have only one foundation. I rarely wear make up, so I don't get through a lot of it, so this 35ml reasonably priced (around £2.50 if memory serves me right) ticked the boxes.
With little experience or knowledge of foundations, what I liked about this particular one was that it ... was labelled "Natural Matt" - the two characteristics I definitely wanted. The other thing I liked about the packaging was that you can clearly see the actual foundation in the bottle, rather than just the coloured label on the lid (which was fortunate, as the label on mine bears only a slight resemblance to the actual colour!)
The other claims on the bottle are "improved application & wear" "longer lasting formulation" and "all day matt finish". On the back it additionally promises a flawless complexion, fragrance free and contains UVA and UVB sunscreens. None of these factors really apply to me and I certainly haven't rigorously tested them as I don't wear "all day" make up, but they were added bonuses should I ever be wearing make up all day on any occasion.
The bottle and cap are well designed - squeezing from the tube you don't get any messy residue, and even though it rarely gets an outing and I have probably had it 12 months, there is no clogging of the hole or build up of foundation around the top. The other good thing is that the bottle is very slim, so it's easy to fit in your 'liquids' bag if going on a "hand-luggage-only" flight.
The foundation itself is a pleasant consistency and as such, it's very easy to apply. Not being too adept at applying make up, again, I want something that will go on easily, evenly and be easy to blend in, not leaving lines, and luckily I found this product does all three. When it's on, it does what it says "on the tin" insofar as it looks natural and has the promised matt appearance.
For around £2.50 this was a great purchase for me. Read the complete review |
