“ Brand: Front Cover / Type: Eyeshadows / Suitable for: Eye „
I bought this at xmas when I was xmas shopping... it was half price at £15.00 and it just slipped into my basket!
It's a great eyeshadow kit as it has some good base colours as well as some vibrant ones. There are also 4 glitter shades which have very precise brushes, which are great for using as eyeliner but it takes quite a lot of coats to get it to sparkle like the gold eyeshadow shown on the front.. the sparkle is actually really fine aswell so this is probably why you need so many coats to build up..
You do get 2 brushes with it though to apply your makeup, although I have also put in an extra brush for my lighter colours as I tend to use 3 colours.. In the box you do get some ideas of different styles but its a shame they couldn't have given you inspiration for all the colours rather than a select few
The liquid eyeliner is very good though and even though I'm not great at applying this myself, the brush is very precise so it makes it easier to do it in strokes..
Probably the biggest problem I have with this is the size of the box as its similiar to an A4 size so it takes up quite a bit of room in my make up drawer!
I recieved this "Front Cover" makeup set as a gift from my parents last Christmas. I was really excited about trying out the new range of eyeshadows, especially as the set contained tubes of coloured glitters. I had purchased the Winter 08/09 version the year before, and was extremely pleased with it, and I have to say, I wasn't dissapointed with the latest one either. I love how there is ideas on how to go about creating the look you want on the inside of the box. There is also a variety of different eyeshadows, all in exotic and unique colours such as "Bougainvillea" and "Moon River". Along with the eyeshadows and glitter, there is also shadowliner. This means that you can create a liquid eyeliner using the eyeshadows in the box. You will never run out of eye makeup ideas.
For what you get within this box (20 eye shadows, 4 glitter eye colours, shadowliner liquid and brushes) the price is fantastic. I really do believe it was a real bargain, and if/when a later version of this product comes out, there will be no hesitation towards me buying it.
I chose this product over others because it instantly appealed to me as soon as I saw it. The front of the box is arty and colourful, with examples of what you can do with the set. The layout of the items within the product is nicely set out and labelled, and all-in-all it is a very neat product which I would highly recommend to all make-up lovers everywhere.
Front Cover cosmetics are an inexpensive cosmetic company only available from Boots (don't quote me on that, I've just not seen them anywhere else). They were previously only available during the christmas shopping period but I have been informed that they will be releasing more of these look book type products each season, or every other season, something like that. I received this particular one for Christmas 2009. They were doing a special offer in which it had been reduced from around £30 to £15 which after using the product for about a month now, I can say it needed reducing for it to be worth it.
Within this look book you receive: 4 glittery eye colours, a liquid to turn any eyeshadow into eyeliner, a small double ended brush (one end for blending, one for application), 5 matte eye colours (the larger ones) and 15 shimmery eye colours in a wide range of colours from neutral to colourful. Also on the inside cover there are step by step instructions to recreating several looks (most of which are on the front cover of the box). There are looks such as smokey line (which has become my new every day look) to smouldering eyes. Simple looks that any woman should know how to achieve.
Upon first receiving this, I took off the packaging and run my finger over several of the eye colours to test for pigmentation. I was quite disappointed by it to be honest, they were not as pigmented as you would have hoped for. I thought at first it might be due to the way they are put into the pallette, they are very rounded and raised rather than just flat. But I tested out the ones that were actually flat in the pan and they were just the same kind of quality. It is not the best quality you can hope for but when you actually apply them on the eye you can pretty much manage to make the colour pay off the way it should do.
Another point I was disappointed with are the glitter colours. They are pretty small to start off with so I wasn't expecting a massive brush applicator in them, but it was a LOT smaller than I was thinking. And the application of it is very hard to do. There is a look on the front cover of a gold glittery eye which I presume is supposed to have been done with the glitter you receive, but I honestly don't see how they managed to do that. There is more clear liquid in the tube than there is glitter and when you apply it, it spreads too thinly for that to be recreated without a hell of a lot of work.
Overall, I guess this product is a reasonable purchase. The make up looks are gorgeous and the instructions very easy to follow. The colours are unique to ones I already have. I probably won't be using the glitter colours very much so I'm not too fussed that they weren't a great product. I would definitely reccommend people to purchase Front Cover cosmetics when it's available. I will definitely be purchasing the spring/summer collection when it comes out.
Front Cover Eye Spy Eyeshadow!
I recieved this set as a present at christmas and I have been looking it the front cover products for ages and they all look really good and of a very high quality.
In the set you get:
* Four glittery eye colours
* Shadow liner liquid (like the urban decay version)
* A double ended small and large eye shadow brush
* Five matt eye shadows
* And fifteen glittery sparkly eye shadows in a wide range of colours!
* And on the inside cover there are small step by step guides to recreate various looks that are shown on the cover, there are about seven to choose from!
The colours are so nice and are applied really smoothly, evenly and they stay put for a long time! the colours include, amber green, black ink, vintage violet, moon river ( metallic silver), lagoon (sparkly turquoise), parrot (deep glittery green) and my favorites include, power puff (shimmery beige), burnt toast (molten brown) and vanilla ice (creamy glittery white), all three can be used together to create a really nice look, which is similar to look number six on the inside, but I like to change them to suit my mood that day!
The shadow line is like the urban decay version, where you dip the brush with the solution on into the eye shadow you want to use as a eye liner and then apply. But I have found that this is very tricky and it is really messy as the eyeshadow becomes messed up, the brush of the shadow liner gets stained with that eye shadow colour and it doesn't even make a strong line of color! I don't think that the shadow liner should be in the set as it is useless! You get four little glittery eye liners in the set anyway and you can also you them as a eye shadow, to get a whole eye lid full of glittery vivid deep color!
In my opinion some of the looks in the set are not very nice and some what like circus make up, such as look three, which has a pale baby blue on the top lid and a lime green just under the lower lashes, which is not very nice! All for the looks are quite quick and easy to do! they eye shadows also last for quite a long time too!
This product is currently not on sale at boots, but you can buy it from amazon and ebay. At boots it was £35 which is a bit expensive, but from other stores it is probably cheaper! I would recommend this it to everyone, it is the perfect gift for all women! It is also really nicely presented!
Thank you for reading my review, I hope it was helpful! :D
