I am not what some would call a makeup junkie. When it comes to eyeliner however, i stubbornly refused to give up on the hunt for a long lasting, smooth applying pencil liner and I have found it in GOSH velvet touch liner. I have it in the colour black, and am definitely considering buying other colours. I could honestly not rave enough about this liner. It applies smoothly and dark around the top and bottom waterlines. It also sticks well on the top lid as long as the pencil is sharp and shadow has been applied first. In liners, this is not particularly unique though; there are others from different brands that also provide this kind of application. What is special about GOSH's velvet touch liner is it's staying power. I used to use cheap liner, but got fed up of it smudging by Lunchtime! After hours of web browsing i found this. It is a little expensive at £7 for a pencil, but it lasts me a good 4 months using it everyday, so it is certainly a worthwhile investment. The only real problem I have with this eyeliner is actually removing it! It normally takes thorough scrub in the sink or shower to remove it completely, and so buying some decent makeup remover is definitely recommended. It doesn't irritate my sensitive hayfevery eyes in the summer either, which is nice. Everyone should at least give this a go, you won't regret it!
I rather like the GOSH make up range. I also really like eyeliner (I counted the other day and I have a total of ten different liners in different formats, only two of which are not black!). So, it is no surprise that I think the GOSH Velvet Touch Eyeliner is a pretty great addition to my make up bag. This eye liner comes in eight different colours from subdued grey shades to a bold purple, so you are sure to find one which suits the look you are going for. I have the black one (called black ink) as I use black eye liner much more often than coloured ones. The eye liner comes in a pencil form and the pencil and lid are both black. The words GOSH EYE LINER are written in quite large white lettering along the length of the pencil, this helps to make it easy to sport amongst the items in my make up bag. The design is simple and much like any other pencil eye liner I own, but it does have a smoother more plastic-y finish to the outside than some pencils have. When applying this eye liner it feels lovely, smooth and creamy on the skin (I imagine that this is thanks to it having vitamin E and jojoba oil in it). The pencil does not drag on the skin at all, just glides beautifully across it. I find that the pencil is good for use on both the eye lid and the water line (sometimes I'll use a different liner for each of these things). It is easy to get a nice smooth thin line as long as you regularly sharpen the pencil, as this eye liner is so soft it does dull at the point extremely quickly. Of course if you like to wear your eye liner thicker then you can get away with sharpening the pencil less often. The colour is beautiful, a very dark black and even better, it stays that way! This eye liner is waterproof and it really does stay put. I have not had problems with fading or smudging when I've used this eye liner, neither have I had to reapply at regular intervals like I have found I need to with some other brands. Removing the eye liner is fairly simple, although it is waterproof it does come off easily with make up remover. I have quite sensitive skin and eyes, but this eye liner has caused me no problems with sensitivity at all. This is probably helped by the fact that it stays in place so well that it never has a chance to get into my eyes. You can find GOSH eye liner for sale in Superdrug for £4.99 and there is currently a long running 3 for 2 offer on GOSH products. I believe this is a great price for a product of this quality and I will happily pay it again in the future. I have not seen this brand for sale anywhere other than Superdrug, but GOSH products are available both on their website and in store, so they are fairly easy to get hold of. If you happen to have a rewards card for Superdrug then one of these eye liners would earn you 4 points. Overall this is a great eye liner, gentle on the skin, waterproof and smudge proof, a reasonable price, good strong pigment and available in a range of colours. I would certainly recommend this!
I'm a huge fan of Gosh cosmetics and especially like their eyeliners. I already had one of their liquid liners but I bought this eyeliner pencil a few months ago now as it was (and still is) on a 3 for 2 offer. I've got absolutely loads of eyeliners and I used to just grab any and use it, but I've been using this pretty much daily since I purchased it as it's gentle on my waterline and the finish is flawless in my opinion; no smudging at all and even after six+ hours it doesn't fade or begin to go blotchy. I paid £4.99 for this eyeliner which is a little pricey when compared to my primark and makeup academy ones but it is much cheaper than my MAC and NARS eyeliners and there is not a noticeable reduction in quality despite the difference in price. The eyeliner along with the whole range of gosh cosmetics is currently on a long term 3 for 2 offer in Superdrug and as far as I know, this is the only place that Gosh products are available from. The eyeliner is currently available in six different shades including brown, grey, blue, gold, silver and black. I have the shade 'black ink' which is a very deep, intense black. I have dark hair and dark lashes so this suits me well, however due to the different shades, people with lighter hair will be easily able to find the right shade for them. I was going to get the 'truely brown' shade as I have so many black eyeliners already but it was out of stock - I am definitely going to buy it though now that I know how good quality the eyeliners are. The eyeliner's casing is made of black plastic which I find both an advantage and disadvantage. It does look nicer than a run of the mill pencil liner but it is a little more awkward to sharpen - and this is made even more awkward by the soft, creamy texture. The casing is black and glossy and there is the Gosh branding on the side in white writing along with the words 'eye liner'. The eyeliner is long and slender, but not so slender that it is fiddly/hard to grip. It fits perfectly in my makeup bag and it is quite an easily identifiable eyeliner due to the Gosh branding; I have so many eyeliners that I sometimes struggle to find the one I am looking for, but this catches my eye due to the white writing which stands out against the black background. The eyeliner has a pointed nib but this soon goes very blunt - mine went blunt after the first time that I used it as it is so soft and creamy, so it does need sharpening quite often. Despite this though, it doesn't run out ridiculously quickly and I've had mine for around two months now and there is a decent amount left. The eyeliner has vitamin e and jojoba oil in it which I must admit I find rather odd as it's an eyeliner, not a body butter! I do think that these ingredients make the eyeliner creamier though and it's incredibly gentle on my waterline when I apply it; it glides along and doesn't drag at all. The eyeliner is really intense and makes the whites of my eyes appear brighter and the colour of my iris' kind of 'pop' more if that makes sense, and my eyes appear wider and more awake too. Although it is very dark it doesn't look over the top or heavy. I only need to apply one layer of this for a very noticeable amount of eyeliner and the colour is very solid rather than patchy like some cheap eyeliners can be. Gosh claim that the eyeliners are smudge proof however I am able to smudge it quite easily with my fingertip or a blending brush if I am going for a smokey eye look. The eyeliner is waterproof and doesn't run at all - even if I have a bath the morning after the night before with this on it stays on and although it smudges a little it doesn't come off completely - obviously somewhat of a disadvantage and it takes 3-4 makeup removing pads to completely remove it. The eyeliner stays on all day and doesn't fade or smudge over time, it looks neat and I really like it. I overall reccommend this eyeliner as it is cheap and very good quality.
An underwhelming eyeliner is an eye nightmare. No one wants to have their pencil snap or refuse to cooperate into an efficient point when sharpening, to struggle to convince it to draw on the waterline/lash line, to have it scratch their eyelid, and on top of all this have the finished result flake, streak or rub off. GOSH Velvet Touch Eyeliner is my saviour, the dream, the ultimate beauty product. As a contact lens wearer, not only am I not allergic to this eyeliner as it's fragrance free (YES!!!!), but it is a pencil which sharpens easily, lines the waterline perfectly, is soft (but not so soft you can only draw thick lines) and doesn't pull the skin on your eyelid, has gorgeous colour payoff and it stays on all day. This product comes in an enormous range of shades from Truly Brown (my staple colour) to hues of purple, grey, blue, black and bronze. You can buy it at Superdrug for £4.99 which I feel is a reasonable price for the quality of the product. However, while my blusher lasts me for years (is that even healthy?!), eyeliner is beauty essential that I get through quite quickly so I make use of Superdrug's 3-for-2 promotions, which they run fairly often. This means that the liners work out to about £3.33 each (and if you're a student and have an NUS card, about £3.00). And don't forget that if you have a Superdrug Beauty Card you can collect points on that too. I think this is excellent value for something that you only need to apply once in a day. I used to use Bourjois Liner Stylo, which also had excellent staying power, but for some reason after I began wearing contact lenses I became allergic to it (if you don't have sensitive eyes, I can recommend this as an alternative). After trying several other high street brands which either smudged or I was allergic to, and being considerably out of pocket having to bin the ones I had reactions to, I invested in Clinique Kohl Shaper for Eyes which I knew was dermatologically tested. While this didn't aggravate my eyes, it was a serial smudger, expensive and it didn't sharpen well either. In my opinion GOSH Velvet Touch Eyeliner beats them all hands down as it is suitable for sensitive eyes, has ease of application, gorgeous colour, is long-wearing and superb value for money. I could not recommend this eyeliner highly enough!
One day I was shopping in Boots looking for a new eye-liner. They didn't have the one I usually have (Maybelline), and because I had also run out of it, I had to choose another one. One of the Boots girls told me that the Gosh: Velvet Touch Eyeliner was a good one and so I took her word for it and bought the eyeliner for around £5. I bought the black one, although there are lots of different colours available. The pencil is quite small whilst at the same time being quite chunky. It is the perfect size to get a grip on, yet is it small enough to be able to 'move around your face' easily. The eyeliner is very easy to apply; just like any other eyeliner. Simply, draw around your eyes (or whatever else you like). It takes little effort and little time which is great. Sometimes I find that I make the area around my eyes sore when I apply eyeliner, although this is really gentle and doesn't make my skin sore. Despite the fact that this eyeliner is meant to be waterproof, it doesn't stay on very long and melts away quite quickly and so for that reason I think I will stick to my usual eyeliner in future.
