Guerlain Eye Liner
Advantages: Looks & Feels Amazing
Disadvantages: Price, No Smudge Brush
I treat myself to this last month and so far I love it! I bought mine from Debenhams and paid £15.50 which ofcourse is expensive for an eyeliner so i'd class this as a luxury product. If buying online from Debenhams you have to pay £3 postage so I bought mine in store. It's also available from House of Fraser. The eyeliner has the same appearence physically to most other eyeliners. The pen is thin but has just the right amount of thickness for it to be easy to grasp and glide. There is golden writing on the side of the black pencil which reads Crayon Yeux/Eye Pencil. long pencil has a triangular shape to the body which actually makes it more practical to use as it has less tendency to slip. The overall design is not really great, it definetly doesn't look like a £15 eyeliner but there's nothing really to complain about - it's sleek looking, just nothing fancy.
As far as I know there are four different colours available: black, bronze noir, midnight blue and ivory. I have the eyeliner in black as I don't wear coloured eyeliner and the ivory eyeliner seemed a little pointless in my opinion but for anyone who has tired looking eyes i'm sure it would work wonders, it could perhaps even act as a foundation stick due to the soft texture. The eyeliner is very highly pigmented - much more so then similar priced eyeliners and i'd say it's in the same league as Benefit Badgal but with the advantage that it's more versatile due to the neat nib which is nice and accurate.
The pencil is nice and soft and quite creamy in texture - very similar to a kohl eye pencil and it reminds me a little of a gel kohl eyeliner that I own. It is extremely easy to apply and is not unpleasent at all like some eyeliners can be - it does not drag on my waterline at all. It's not so soft that it smudges or breaks apart though, it is just right in consistency. The eyeliner glides on smoothly and evenly, leaving the eyes looking gorgeous. The black is very sharp and gives perfect definition, it looks almost professional because of the amount of pigmentation the product has and how smooth the finish is. It really makes my eyes look bigger and it's such a bold colour and well pigmented that it actually noticeably looks (as well as feels) high quality - i've had a couple of friends comment that they liked my eyeliner when I was wearing this. It has a very silky, smooth look to it and it doesn't blob up/gather in the corners of my eyes at all even after 8 hours plus of wear.
As I said before the eyeliner's nib is very neat, it's accurate and creates a thin, even line which is buildable - it does not become sticky and blobby if layered. It's also ideal for the flicky out look I like to do when I go out. It's easy to create a subtle smokey eye look with this too but it doesn't smudge very much at all so if you're after major panda eyes then i'd stick with whatever eyeliner you currently use. Sharpening the eyeliner can be achieved easily with an eyeliner sharpener (do not use a normal pencil sharpener). I have had mine for a month and I have sharpened it 2-3 times which is no where near as much as I sharpen my other eyeliners so obviously it lasts better.
I have sensetive eyes/skin and have had issues with eyeliners in the past irriating my waterline and therefor running/smuding. This is very gentle and I am fine with it, the product itself is soft as I said before and it is not perfumed like some eyeliners are. It is a gentle, easy to use eyeliner. The eyeliner lasts the whole day - the staying power is brilliant. I've even left mine on overnight more then once and when I woke up it hadn't smudged at all which is pretty amazing. The pigmentation does not fade or wear away. Removing the eyeliner is easy and takes me around 1-2 makeup wipes (I layer mine quite alot though).
The only downside is that the eyeliner does not come with a smudge brush, however they are cheap to buy seperately. Overall this is a really good eyeliner that looks and feels great, is easy to apply and lasts all day without smudging. As far as I am aware is not a waterproof eyeliner, however I do not feel that this effects the quality of it and i've worn it on rainy days before and haven't had any issues with it running or smudging. 4/5 - i'd of given it 5/5 if it wasn't for the price and the fact it doesn't come with a smudge brush on the end.
Summary: Super Soft Luxurious Eyeliner
