Guerlain KissKiss Gloss
Advantages: A lovely non sticky gloss
Disadvantages: The price.
I have a so much make which I have collected up over time, I love trying out different products, one item which I seem to have quite a lot of is lip sticks and lip glosses. One item which helps to make up my collection is Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss. I have had this product a little while now, its one I tend to use on a night out rather than for everyday use, its probably a bit more expensive than what I would normally go for but it caught my attention when out shopping one day so I decided to give it a go.
The Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss comes in the traditional lip gloss tube, the tube is a square shape and mainly clear allowing you to see the colour of the lip gloss inside. At the very top of the tube just beneath the lid is a small silver border. The lid is also square to match the shape of the tube and this too is shiny silver, at the bottom of the lid is the make of the lip gloss "Guerlain" engraved within the lid itself. The packaging is quite plain and simple but I do like this about it as it looks quite classy and also it is the product inside that counts. The lid simply unscrews from the main tube to reveal the application brush, the handle part of the brush is quite long which means that you can get right down to the bottom of the tube. Most of my lip glosses have the traditional foam/ spongy applicator, however the applicator Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss has a brush style applicator, this is quite small and short, personally I think this is just the right size as it means you can apply the lip gloss neatly and evenly, a large brush style applicator may mean that the lip gloss goes everywhere when applying it.
The Lip Gloss
Personally I quite like wearing lip gloss however some can be quite sticky to wear and often end up wearing off quite quickly, I was hoping that as Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss would be a better quality compared to some I have This lip gloss is described as being pigment enriched and extremely shiny but without that stickiness. It is also supposed to be providing intense moisture whilst at the same time giving your lips a smooth appearance, again another important factor for me, if your lips are a bit on the dry side there's nothing worse than a lip gloss that either makes this worse or highlights the dry patches on your lips, for me it is important that my lip gloss does not dry out the skin on my lips and that it does not highlight it when my lips are a bit on the dry side, so in theory the Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss sounded perfect for me.
The first time I applied my Kiss Kiss lip gloss I particularly liked the brush style applicator, the short bristles allowed me to apply the gloss neatly and evenly, I had wondered how I would get on with the brush but I actually think I prefer it to the sponge applicator and the brush allows you to get right to the edges without going over onto your the skin of your face, found with this style applicator I got a really neat line. After I had applied the gloss I first noticed how light it felt on my lips and there was no stickiness at all, whilst I could obviously feel that I had something on my lips there was not that horrible gooey feeling which makes you feel like you have to peel your lips apart just to speak or eat. After wearing the lip gloss for a little while I was also pleased to discover that it was not gradually drying out the skin on my lips, they actually felt quite nourished and moisturised as promised, when I first tried this product my lips were not dry at all so there was no fear of the gloss becoming patchy and showing any dry skin, however I have since worn the Guerlain Kiss Kiss lip gloss when I have been suffering a bit with dry lips and was pleased to see that the same smooth appearance remained, I have even tried applying the gloss over lip balm for added moisturiser, you probably do not actually need to do this as the gloss is quite moisturising, however it still looked just as good with the lip balm base and lasted just as well. I was generally pleased with the lip gloss and how it made my lips look, I was also impressed with how well it lasted. I have found that lip glosses really do not last that long and are not always the best option for a night out when you do not really want to have to keep reapplying. However the first time I tried my Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss I was please to discover that it actually lasted for quite some time even after having a drink, I wouldn't say it lasted as long as lip stick, I am yet to find a lip gloss that does but this is definitely a close second. When I have worn this product I rarely have had to reapply, it doesn't last forever but is so much better than other lip glosses I have tried.
Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss comes in a large range of colours to choose from, there really is something for everyone, including
There are a lot more shades than this, I think there are around 20 in totally, some of which have a slight sparkle to them so there really is something to suit most occasions. I have the Rose Florida shade which is a pink, it is not what I would call a bright pink, yet on the other hand it is not too pale, I find that this shade goes with pretty much any other make up I am wearing, it has a lovely glossy sheen to it which remains the whole time I am wearing it. Some of the colours in the range are a bit bright for me especially some of the reds, however there are plenty of others which I would like to try at some point.
Price & Availability
I purchased my Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss from Debenhams and it cost me about £21.00, personally I think this is rather expensive for a lip gloss and I wouldn't normally spend this much on one, however I had heard a lot of good reviews about this product so decided to give it a go. Whilst I would say that the quality of the product is excellent, which I would expect with such a large price tag, I'm not sure any lip gloss is worth over £20.00. However as this was quite expensive I am trying to make it last as long as possible, I do not wear this every day for work and tend to save it for when I am going out, this is making it very long lasting, also the fact that it does not need to keep being reapplied also adds to the amount of time a tube lasts. I have since had a look online to see if this product is sold cheaper anywhere else, I have found it being sold for just under £20.00 on a few websites but I really cannot find it a massive amount cheaper at all, this seems to be the average price for it.
Overall I would recommend Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss, it is of a very high quality, it gives your lips a lovely shiny glossy finish without the nasty sticky after feeling, another bonus for me was that it didn't have any taste to it, there was a slight fragrance however this was quite nice, there's nothing worse than a lip gloss that leaves a nasty taste in your mouth and this certainly wasn't the case with this product. I loved the way it lasted for such a long time without having to reapply which allowed me to wear it on a night out. The large range of colours means that there's something for everyone no matter what your preference. For me the only down side is the price, it is a bit expensive for a lip gloss, however as I keep mine for special occasions it is proving to be long lasting. This is one I would recommend for the high quality not the price.
Summary: A lovely lip gloss but too expensive for everyday use.
