Review of Guerlain Lip Pencil
Guerlain are one of the brands that I would class as a premium cosmetics range. Their products are available from various on line and High Street stockists.
**The Lip Liner**
I must start by stating that I did not buy this for myself, earlier this year I was fortunate enough to win a selection of cosmetics in an online competition and this lip liner was one of my prizes. When I heard of my prize, I had to give a few details of my age, colouring and so on, this lip liner is definitely the colour I would have chosen for myself.
The colour I have is shade no 42, Brun Parfait, this is a rich deep pinky/brown. This lip liner is the pencil style of liner; it is rather classy looking, in my opinion. The pencil is slim and is made of a light-weight wooden material. The main colour of the pencil is black with a red stripe around the end, the brand name in a gold font.
One end has the point of the pencil and the other end is a handy smudging brush. There is a plastic, gold coloured lid for each end to protect the product and of course keep it clean and hygienic. The lip liner weighs in at 1.2 grams
I have found that this lip liner glides on smoothly; it is a creamy product which is very easy to apply. The texture is ideal for outlining your lips or for adding a little subtle definition. The colour is quite sheer, it is not a glittery liner, and it gives a softly shiny effect. The product is soft enough to smudge lightly giving users a choice of looks. I must admit I rarely use the smudging brush as I prefer to use this as a defining liner.
The nib of this lip liner pencil is very soft which suits me as it does not drag the skin or feel harsh in use the way some similar, cheaper products do. I find that this feels nice and light on the skin, the texture is creamy enough to be gentle and smooth, with no trace of heaviness or that unpleasant greasy feeling you sometimes get with lip cosmetics.
Sharpening is no big deal and thanks to a tip I received from a relative who is a professional make- up artist, I have kept my Guerlain lip pencil in good order. Following my niece's advice, I pop my cosmetic pencils in the fridge for an hour or two before attempting to sharpen them, this firms up the product making it easier to sharpen. Guerlain provide a very good sharpener with this pencil which works a treat.
**My Thoughts and Conclusion**
I have found this to be an excellent lip liner, it is easy to use, it lasts incredibly well and shade no 42 is a superb colour for my complexion. As I have not tried any other shades of this lip liner, obviously I cannot comment on the complete range, but if the colour I have is anything to go by, I am sure they would be just as good as mine.
Being a smoker and a lady of more mature years, I do have lines around the lips and have recently found that some lipsticks tend to 'bleed' into these lines. Using a product such as this lip liner can help resolve this problem and although I do not use lip liners regularly, they do have their place in my make- up collection.
As mentioned, this lip liner was part of a completion prize, so although I had heard of Guerlain, I had no idea of the price of this lip liner. I looked on line prior to writing this review and was rather taken aback to find that it currently retails at round £18-£20. My budget does not allow for spending this much on one item of make-up, so now that I am aware of the cost, I must say that I am doubly happy with my win!
I would definitely recommend this lip liner to others as it is a long lasting, creamy lip liner which is well worth trying.
Thank you for reading.
