“ Brand: Guerlain / Makeup - Eyeshadow / Type: Eye Shadow / Suitable for: Eye „
I recently won a selection of Guerlain products and amongst them was an Ombre Eclat eyeshadow - mine is actually a four shade product but is in a similar packaging to the photo above. Mine is called Les Nois and features a black, two shades of grey and a pinkish colour. Between them you should be able to create some wonderful smoky eye effects (I say should because I am pretty rubbish at applying make up and only tend to attempt very basic things!).
The pallet is lovely, a chunky, solid gold coloured plastic casing which clicks shut very securely and feels high quality, the inside is a lovely little mirror and then the four colours and a double ended application brush. The brush requires a mention as it is VERY easy to use and shaped so well that application is easy, the ends are a very soft sponge and they are clearly very well designed. Of all the eyeshadow I have ever owned, this is by far the best applicator.
The eyeshadow itself is clearly of wonderful quality, it shimmers and reflects the light in a mesmerising way and I cannot begin to explain how soft it is, it feels so incredibly silky as you apply it and manages to look delicate (even the darker shades) which I think is due to the 'pearly particles' which were described on the leaflet I received with the range of products.
I actually found that these eyeshadows were pretty easy to apply and I managed to blend two of the tones in my set to create a lovely dusky effect (this is a minor miracle for me) I was also impressed that having applied this for a night out it remained pretty much in tact for the entire evening. Amazingly, considering how well it stays in place, I removed the eyeshadow very easily and without much rubbing with a cucumber (no alcohol) wipe at the end of the night.
Overall you can really feel the quality in this product, despite being technically a powder it glides on to your skin with no dry bits or creases showing, it gives an incredibly even coverage and even with a novice hand produces brilliant results - the only area where I struggle with this product is the price. Having won this I had to go online to gauge what it sells for and I was gobsmacked to find that these 4 colour palettes sell for a whopping £37 in department stores!
Personally I do not think I have ever paid more than £15 for eyeshadow and this price is a bit eye watering for me. That said I can clearly see and feel the quality of this item and dependent on how long it lasts for I would potentially buy this again in the future if I can find it at a discount or in a special offer. Alternatively this would be a very indulgent and appreciated gift for Christmas or a birthday and it does indeed endear this luxury brand to me.
Guerlain is a very well known name in my profession and I am so pleased that I get many free samples of their product dew to my wonderful friend and fellow beautician from Paris. Guerlain is a quality French range of beauty products in both makeup and skin care.
The Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow is a luxuriously soft, very easy to apply product. I have to emphasize just how soft this actually is, it just glides over my skin and feels as soft as silk sheets. As we all know the eye area is the most delicate area on the face and needs to be treated with care.
The case is in a compact style, with a crystal clear mirror. The golden case has a quality feel to the touch and is the epitome of luxury. The eyeshadow applicator is small yet works perfectly and is wonderful when used with this product.
This comes in a large selection of shades to suite your complexion and colouring. They are suitable for a light, fresh, day look, but can also be used effectively for a dramatic, smokey, heavy or seductive night eye look. I like to use the products that I use on my clients, as I feel better at recommending them if I have used them myself.
This eyeshadow lasts far longer than most on the market. It does not need reapplying as often and in the right conditions one application could last you all day. Of course if the conditions are hot that may not be possible. Because of its super smooth texture this will not settle into fine lines and become unflattering like so many eye shadows can. Not one of my mature clients have ever come back to me complaining of this problem, in fact quite the opposite. The fact that it never happens is one of the reasons they love it so much. I want to mention that because I'm quite young and it is not of much use me telling you that it doesn't settle into my lines, but seeing it works on both my younger and more mature clients and on myself says a lot.
Removal of this long lasting product isn't as worrying as you may think. Just because it stays in place during the day or night doesn't mean it is stubborn when it comes to removal. I just glide a moistened cotton pad over my eye and away it goes. You can also use a gentle, alcohol free wipe such as Simple wipes and that will remove the shadow. I have never experienced any irritation while using any Guerlian product but as I said above the eye area can be sensitive. There is no itching or redness when using or removing this product and there is no need for pressure to be applied when removing it.
This is a luxury product with luxurious results it can cost twenty two pounds but it is worth it and it is something I would happily spend money on.
Never rub or drag anything across either your upper or under eye. This will increase the chances of drooping in this area and being anything other than gentle will result in puffiness, redness, and even wrinkles.
So remember be gentle.
And as always ....
Stay beautiful xxx
I really like Guerlain products and although I have tried a few that I didn't think were worth the money this one definitely is. I don't often use eye shadow because I've found they don't last long and the colour collects in the fold in my eyelid. I tend to use a little bit of a darker colour when I am going out in the evening for a more dramatic eye but when purchasing this eye shadow I fell in love with shade 183 cares which is a lovely light pinky colour.
The packaging for this product is very nice. It looks like a very expensive and plush looking product. It comes in a rectangular shaped plastic palette with a gold lid. The lid opens easily but feels very secure when it is closed too. I wouldn't be worried about travelling with this eye shadow as it feels secure enough that it wouldn't open and damage the powder. The eye shadow comes with a sponge applicator, I tend to actually use an eye shadow brush because I think the sponge applicator gives a very heavy look. I prefer a light dusting as a highlighter for my eyes in the day and as a base for a darker shadow in the evening. That said, I would probably use it out of convenience if I was travelling and this is less a criticism of the product and more a personal preference.
The eye shadow feels silky and smooth upon application, it is very easy to apply to your eyelid either with a brush or with the sponge applicator for added precision. The colour is lovely. It is a very light pinky shade that provides a great base in the daytime or underneath other eye shadows at night. I like the colour a lot, it is very subtle and natural looking but gives your eyes a little added emphasis. I think for my blue eyes it complements them perfectly and brings out their colour, but I can imagine it also looking lovely on a brown or green eye. I don't use this product everyday because I don't always like wearing a lot of makeup - I probably use it 2/3 times a week. I think if I was to purchase this eye shadow again I would probably opt for another colour because I thought they were all lovely and would love to try a different one.
The eye shadow lasts a long time, probably half the day without starting to rub off. Using it 2/3 times a week fairly consistently has meant that in 6 months I am probably a third of the way through it. This is great because it means I can use this product for well over a year and this means the high price is less of an issue.
The product costs £21.50 for one eye shadow. This is expensive but as I rarely use eye colour anyway I think it is a good investment as a colour that can be used everyday or a base in the evening. I would far rather buy this than buy 4 cheaper eye shadows as I think the quality of this product is far better than any other eye colour I have tried before.
So, in conclusion? I would absolutely buy this again as I think £20.00 or so every year and a half isn't all that bad.
This is a review of Guerlain's Ombre Eclat One Shade eye shadow in the shade 183 called 'Cares' which is actually the one pictured. I bought this last month as I had previously had one of their eye shadows in Rose Metal (No 81) and I loved it but you couldn't get hold of it any more. It was the perfect base colour for eyes and really stayed on so I decided to investigate and find a similar colour.
New = Better
The formula for the One Shade eye shadow is even better. It is so smooth and silky on the eye and you can just dust on a little with a brush or really pack it on for dramatic effect using a sponge style applicator (like the one you get provided with the eye shadow).
This really does come across as a deluxe item. It has a gold lid with the Guerlain logo scripted across but the nicest bit when they are new is the embossed logo in the top of the product. It made me reluctant to use it as I love how it looks! You also get a small sponge applicator in the little compact.
This eye shadow will last me ages. It was expensive so I don't use it every day but I love everything about it from its packaging to performance. I like how the eye shadow doesn't crease over the eyelid. It is long lasting, it stays on from morning until evening removal which is great as some eye shadows don't last until lunch!
I bought the eye shadow for £21.50 whilst in House of Fraser. I had a voucher to spend and was wandering around for ages when I remembered how much I liked the older eye shadow and as I didn't find anything else with the vouchers I decided to treat myself. You don't really get much discount on this brand anyway so it's not really worth hanging around in case a better offer happens.
As I said earlier this eye shadow is long lasting so it gets a tick in that box. The texture is velvety smooth and top quality. I don't really use the applicator it comes with but as my eye shadow is a light shade I am careful to use a clean brush so I don't spoil the top of the product with any other colours. I don't wear it on its own as I like to blend in some darker colours around the outer edge and for me this doesn't work as a single colour on its own.
The eye shadow does have a little bit of sparkle in it so it may not be for everyone. There are ten shades in the range, all of them very tasteful and neutral creams, pinks and browns. If you are thinking of buying more than one it may be better value to invest in one of Guerlain's eye palettes, which are a mirrored compact style with four or more colours inside. I knew I just wanted the one colour to replace my old eye shadow that I loved so much so I didn't bother with the palette (although I did admire them!). To me, Guerlain is a grown up and sophisticated brand and I would definitely like to own more products from their range.
I'm an absolute sucker for all lotions, potions, perfumes and make-up, and as such have an absolutely vast amount of all of the above. My husband thinks I'm a bit crazy, but hey he's not a girl!
Eyeshadows are another of the items that I must have around 50 or so of. I'm always trying new brands, new colours etc. I'm not especially picky or choosy with eyeshadows, I'll buy any brand or any colour and as a result I have quite an eclectic eyeshadow collection.
I did own a few Guerlain products already when I decided to give their eyeshadows a go. I bought two of the single shade eyeshadows. I bought L'Instant d'une Caresse 183 which is a very very light beige with a pearly finish, and L'Instant Nuit 182 which is a dark grey with a velvety finish. These were £21.50 each from John Lewis. I chose these two colours as they are quite versatile and for £21.50 each I think that you probably want to get lots of use out of them. I use the grey shadow either to create smoky eyes, or as a defining eyeliner eyeshadow, I like the fact that it has a matt velvety finish, it is not too over the top. I use the beige shadow either as an all over one colour eyeshadow for everyday, or as a highlighter eyeshadow with a fuller made up look, this has a pearly finish and so looks good on either its own or as a highlighter.
The eyeshadows come in a sleek, classy looking gold cases, with the Guerlain logo engraved on the lid. Each eyeshadow somes with its own small sponge applicator, and there is a mirror inside the lid of the case. The sponge applicator is really good quality, it has a wide surface area for easy application of the eyshadow over your whole lid and a pointed tip to easily apply the eyeshadow as a liner, I use this to apply the eyeshadows most of time. I've even washed the applicators a few times to keep them hygenically clean, and they wash well.
The eyshadows glide on very easily and they feel really quite soft and luxurious on your eyelids. The staying power of these eyshadows is brilliant, they do last all day, or all night. They don't 'crease' like a lot of eyeshadows can tend to do. They are also easy to remove, either with make up remover, or just cleanser and water.
All in all I have found these to be very good quality eyeshadows, they were expensive but they are worth it for the quality.
So as you may guess from my previous reviews, I was spoilt this Christmas with a whole load of Guerlain goodies and this eye shadow was one of them. I got my singular eye shadow in a plum colour, but there are a whole load that you can pick, so I am sure you will get something that suits. As a present it makes a lovely little gift, but if you buy one for yourself then it's going to leave a dent in your purse because these bad boys retail for around £20 in department stores.
The eyeshadow comes in a nice gold compact, which has a mirror on the inside and as you can see in the picture above it comes with it's own applicator. I find this compact is a nice handy size to pop into your handbag or into your makeup case.
The eyeshadow itself is a nice texture and it's dead easy to apply. The shade that have produces a very deep plum colour, so I normally wear it for nights out rather than everyday wear. I'm not sure what the other shades look like, so I guess you would have to try them out for yourself. I found that the colour lasted well, at least for my entire night out rather than getting clumped up in my eyelids. It didn't irritate my sensitive skin or cause me to have an ezcema breakout, so all in all I was very happy with it.
Would I pay the £20 to buy it myself? Probably not, because after all it is just an eyeshadow. Don't get me wrong I think it is lovely and am thrilled to have been given one, but it is a lot of money to spend on one piece of makeup, no matter what brand it is. So in conclusion, just hope that someone is kind and buys you one as a gift!
The Guerlain Ombre Eclat One Shade Eye shadow, is another great product from a great range. The packaging is really very classy looking with a sIeek golden lid, inside the lid is a small mirror and a small sponge applicator. I must point out that I have never really use the mirror or the applicator as I apply my make up at home with my own brushes and they are both a little bit on the small side however in case of an emergency if caught sort I think it would be a useful feature.
I do have quite a few of the different colours in the range but I do have to say my favourite shade is my purple one as it is a very noticeable and vibrant colour so a little does manage to go a long way with this eye shadow, which does help keep the price tag of £20 a little bit more manageable.
I tend to apply the eye shadow before work at 7.30am and when I come home at about 6pm there is still a noticeable colour to my eyes without me having to reapply.
When removing with eye makeup remover it does come off very easily and never leaves any irritation on my skin.
WHAT IS IT?
An eyeshadow by Guerlain, available in a range of shades and supplied in a sturdy compact with integrated mirror.
IS IT ANY GOOD?
This is an effective eyeshadow, the shades are mainly quite neutral in pinks and browns but there are also a few greens and blues to choose from. The shades are such that whatever your age and complexion you should find one to suit. The colour provided is matte with no glittery particles, again this makes the shadow suitable for most women.
It is a pressed powder eyeshadow but feels creamy to apply, the applicator provided is adequate but for a more professional finish I'd recommend using a brush as I found the sponge collected a little too much powder with each sweep across the compact. Using a brush gives a more even finish and allows you to build up colour more effectively.
Once applied you can expect a good period of coverage, this eyeshadow will see you through a night out with no creasing and very little fading. I often use this one when I am doing the make up of bridal parties as I can be sure of the longevity of the colour, the neutral shades helping me achieve the natural look that most of my brides ask for.
5 Dooyoo Stars.
Guerlain is not my favourite brand due to the price of their products its very rare that ill buy something from their collection having said that i do think so of the products are very good quilty and work well. I have an Guerlain obsessed older sister who buys everything to do with Guerlain no mater what the price, she is happy with me to try her stuff out and often passes products down to me if she doesn't like them. The Guerlain ombre eclat one shade eyeshadow happens to be one of those products she was not keen on so it landed in my lap. I must say i really love this eyeshadow.
Guerlain Ombre Eclat One Shade Eyeshadow can be purchased from House of frasers for £20.00. It comes in different shades from pinks, greens, blues, browns ever plum colours , i have the reve shade number 184. This is a dark brown shade.
I love the compact case the eyeshadow comes in, its a nice gold sleek compact case, it has the Guerlain inscribed on the lip and has a mirror attached to the underside of the lid. When you open the compact case there is a eyeshadow brush size small and the eyeshadow.
Applying this eyeshadow on the go is nice with the little mirror and brush, the eyeshadow crumbles easily so a little swoosh round with the brush and no pressure to save on waste of the eyeshadow. The brush picks up enough eyeshadow and goes on the eye smoothly, it also has good coverage and lasts around seven hours if you want to keep the shade the strong vibrant colour. After the seven hours the colour fades as it wears of but does not disappear as i have to remove the remains with make up remover. It has a nice strong brown colour and gives a dramatic appearance, a little glitz from the eyeshadow but does look eye catching. I love the colour and staying power the eyeshadow has.
I don't wear the eyeshadow for everyday use because of the colour being strong but perfect for a night out or dinner date. I will hopefully be purchasing another colour when funds allow.
There is a shade to suit everyone and i recommend the Guerlain Ombre Eclat One Shade Eyeshadow expensive but good quality with staying power.
Well, it's been a while since I wrote my last review, but have finally found some time to do some writing - so here goes!
I will start with Guerlain's Ombre Eclat 1 shade eye shadow which I have been using for a couple of years now. Guerlain produce high end makeup and skincare products, but are best known for their classic perfumes.
This eyeshadow is quite versatile in the sense that it initially goes on quite lightly, which looks great in the daytime but can easily be built up for a glamorous evening look. Application is a doddle, it goes on very smoothly, it does come with its own sponge applicator, but I never use these, as I have said in earlier reviews they are never up to much. Guerlain describe this particular applicator as "practical and clever" as it is both wide enabling it to cover the whole eyelid and pointy allowing for precision - but I find that claim quite laughable really, as these 'included' applicators go, it's not too bad, but it certainly does not allow for precision, I find MAC's shader brush (no 242) a much better option for this product. It's a shame Guerlain's makeup brushes are limited to powder brushes.
I use this with Guerlain's Ombre Eclat Eye Primer, which helps it stay on all day and prevents creasing - I will write a separate review on the primer at a later stage. But I do find that this eyeshadow has excellent staying power on its own, and really does last all day, remaining crease free without the need for touch ups. It is easily removed with a good eye makeup remover, at the moment I am using Clinique's 'take the day off' but it has worked just as well with other brands, such as Lancome or Clarins.
I own it in L'instant Émeraude (181-dark green) and L'instant Indigo (190-dark blue), and it comes in 14 shades including pink, lavender, black ,greys, copper as well as browns and creams. The eyeshadow has tiny light reflecting particles that give it a slightly shimmery effect which looks subtle rather than over the top.
Presented in a bulky gold compact, which I must say does not really suit my taste, as I think it's a bit old fashioned. The gold is quite a light (rather than bright) yellow gold and is also prone to scratching, and as these eyeshadows are designed to last, that is a shame really. I have had the green one for over a year and although I haven't carried it in a makeup bag much - a couple of house moves and more trips abroad than I care to disclose, the compact is looking quite sorry for itself.
The compact comes in a black velvet pouch inside Guerlain's standard black and gold packaging. You also get a good sized mirror, but I find this a bit unnecessary as you would not want to carry this around due to the bulkiness - and as it lasts all day you would not need to anyway!
Priced at around £20 you get a generous 3.6g for your money and considering that the colour is highly pigmented and that it has great staying power, I think it constitutes great value for money. Also this eyeshadow does not tend to crumble when it gets low, its four corners remain intact until the end, so that you end up using every last bit of it. It is available from most large department stores and online.
I would definitely recommend this product, but feel that the compact lets it down, Guerlain, if you are reading please, please do this product the justice it deserves, ditch the "applicators" and make some good makeup brushes!

** Guerlain Ombre Eclat One Shade Eyeshadow **
This one is a keeper and have been using it for forever really. It's one of those products that you use once and just know it's a perfect match. I enjoy the Guerlain brand and think they have some fine products. This is the Ombre Eclat One Shade Eyeshadow which is available for around 19 pounds and I got the purple one. Maybe a bit expensive but worth it.
As I always love to read what a brand has to say about their own products I saw that this product should give you intense and long lasting colours that should give a more sophisticated, dramatic effects. Well I think I'm a bit sophisticated and a bit dramatic so it was a perfect match! I love the little packaging like a jewel box where it comes in and it all feels just expensive. You can tell it's quality. It's a small golden case with a sponge applicator and it also has a little mirror in it. I like the mirror but it does feel a bit small.
Applying is very easy especially with the little mirror and the little applicator makes it easy to apply the eye shadow. You can built up the eye shadow for a more dramatic effect but I'm fine with that you just see a little bit. You can really notice the purple well. I was surprised by the longevity of the eye shadow and it's actually easy enough to remove it again. You don't need any special make up removal stuff. All in all makes it very easy and trouble free to use.
I like Guerlain as a brand and already expected this product to be good and luckily it was. It gives a nice little effect but you also have the option to go for more dramatic. It also have a good range colours if you want to change and it stays with you for a long time. I know it's 19 pounds but it's 19 pounds well spent.
The best part of £20 is a lot to pay for one eye shadow but I reckon this one from Guerlain is just about worth it however I'm not sure I would pay that much again for it instead I will wait until it is on sale or part of an offer.
It comes in a stylish small gold case with a mirror on the lid and a rather small sponge applicator so you do not need to carry around a seperate brush applicator. Overall the packlaging and contents give the impression of good quality and this is especially true of the mirror which is very clear.
I mainly use this particular eye shadow to highlight my eyes, it has a light tint to it which contrasts nicely with my skin tone. It is really easy to apply and goes on smoothly, this is where you get to appreciate the quality and understand why the price is a lot higher than other brands. It has a thick consistency to it and one applied it is easy to build up, also it will last a long time and does not easily run or blotch. Then at the end of the day it is easy to remove with a wash sponge and water.
Is it worth the money? Well it is a quality product however I'm not entirely convinced and although I would certainly get it again it will probably be as a gift request or if there is a special offer rather than paying full retail.
Guerlain ombre éclat eye shadows are single, one shade powder shadows that are available in a range of different shades. There are a large number of neutral browns, taupes and beiges which I am a big fan of and also a quite a few brighter and more intense colours. All the shades come in various different finishes ranging from velvet to pearly to sparkling which I guess is just another way of saying shimmery.
I was immediately drawn to the range because of one particular shade; L'Instant Nuit which is a very dark brown/black colour. I'd been looking for a similar shade for a while to use as a crease colour but couldn't find anything that I really liked from other brands. Even MAC didn't wow me with their vast array of shadow shades so I ended up looking at Guerlains range after seeing a promo picture of their products.
For £17.50 (from slapiton) you get a 3.6g eye shadow that comes in a beautiful, classy gold compact with a velvet pouch that's stamped with the Guerlain logo. Inside there is a square pan containing the shadow and a small foam applicator. I have never been a fan of these because in my opinion they don't do a very good job at applying eye shadow. It's almost impossible to blend with them and they are difficult to clean, application is the same with this particular one but I have to say it's one of the prettiest I've ever got with an eye shadow.
The actual shadow is very pigmented and ultra soft which makes it easy to apply and blend. It's really easy to pack on if you're going for a smoky eye look but works equally as well for adding a subtle veil of all over colour on lids. I've also found that this particular shade works really well when used wet as an eye liner. The result after application is a veil of either subtly blended colour or a more instense and pigmented eye look, both of which look velvety soft and polished.
Lasting power with these is brilliant. I find this to be the case with most Guerlain make up products that I've purchased. I normally use a base or eye shadow primer under shadows when using darker colours but I have tried this without a primer and lasting power was still great. I get a good eight hours wear with no creasing and very little fading and have also had no issues with fall out which is great. I've only had this shade for about a month and it's not a colour I use on daily basis but I have used it on quite a few occasions already and I am yet to even make a dent in it so I can't imagine I'd have to repurchase anytime soon.
Overall I think ombre éclat eye shadow is another great quality product from Guerlain. Like most of the range these are on the expensive side but I think they are worth it because you do get a lot for you cash in terms of actual product and also quality wise.
"Oh, Auntie Joy! That brown eyeshadow you're wearing is so ageing!"
This was the kind greeting I received at a family wedding last month from my 'considerate' (read: spoilt brat) niece, Tia. A would-be beauty therapist, Tia (not her actual name, she is nineteen with delusions of grandeur which results in her given name of Sarah being far too 'common' for her liking)... well, Tia is a rather irritating creature due to the fact that whenever she sees any of the female members of my clan she wants to give them a make-over. And to do this she is so incredibly insulting, so it was rather (uncharitably) amusing to hear her make the basic error of calling Guerlain a 'new and exciting' brand.
I felt rather guilty for not correcting her at the time, but in retrospect it was a good move as the following day she turned up with the contents of a goody bag she had received at a recent fashion show. She scathingly commented about the shades being too 'old biddy' for her tastes and then proceeded to ask me if I'd like them (old biddy that I obviously am!). When I saw the brand names I almost snatched her hand off; Clarins, Dior, Givenchy, Rimmel (this was not one I got terribly excited over) and Guerlain - I admit, I was happy to suffer ageist abuse for such a lovely selection of cosmetics!
The Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow is, quite simply, wonderful. I am not a huge wearer of make-up but do like to apply a little for special occasions, I am by no means an expert and would actually class myself very much as a novice despite my age. So the first thing I noticed was how easy this eyeshadow is to apply; it's a powder eyeshadow but has a delightfully velvet texture which makes the colour glide across my eyelids, it has such a smooth consistency that the eyeshadow almost feels creamy while applying it.
Within the small golden case is a small sponge applicator and it has a mirror built into the lid; the applicator is of obvious high quality compared with the type which usually comes with powder eyeshadows, but a little too small for my liking so I tend to use a traditional eyeshadow brush which I personally find easier to handle. The mirror is perfectly designed to show the eye I am working on without any kind of distortion, it's by necessity a rather small mirror due to the size of the compact itself but I find it adequate for both applying my eyeshadow from scratch and also touching up as the evening progresses.
I am currently using the Cares shade (183) and I find it suits my pale but slightly ruddy complexion perfectly. I actually agree with my niece that the shade would probably be more suited to women of my age than younger girls, although I do believe it would work well as a highlighting eyeshadow whatever your age. Cares is a peachy colour which is simple to build up for a more intense effect and it is very easy to add more or less to give your eyes an attractive, well blended appearance.
I am impressed with the longevity of this eyeshadow, and also by the fact that it doesn't all collapse into the creases around my eyes. I'm not ashamed to say I have rather wrinkly eyelids, so eyeshadow can prove to be a problem as I find that after a while the colour will fade across the smoother portions of my eyes while collected in the grooves and furrows. This doesn't happen when using Guerlain Ombre Eclait and I can honestly say my eyeshadow looks as fresh as a daisy even after hours of wear, it's also surprisingly simple to remove using plain old soap and water or the cleanser of your choice. Despite the fact that it is so beautifully long lasting, you certainly will not need a specialised make-up remover to take it off at the end of the night - and I also noticed that it doesn't leave me with any kind of irritation or dryness after removal, which is always a plus point for me as I have rather sensitive facial skin.
The range of colours available is superb, the majority being what I would class as 'safe' classic shades. They are mainly soft tones which can be used alone or with more dramatic products for an extra show of colour, as you can probably guess I steered clear of adding any brighter/darker shades and was more than happy with the subtle look I managed to achieve with Cares.
Being Guerlain, this product comes at a price. The standard size eyeshadow compact costs £19 in John Lewis, I'm so impressed with it overall however that I intend on buying a further two shades from the range - the colours all appear to compliment one another nicely so if funds allow I certainly recommend you purchase more than one shade (or maybe invest in the palette if you are a more regular eyeshadow wearer than I am) as I'm sure they could be used together for maximum effect.
I am a big fan of make up and never leave the house without it on even if its just a touch of maskara or lipgloss. I have tried lots of different brands and cant pass a beauty counter without buying something. I dont drink or smoke so my passion and money is usually spent on make up or clothes. I feel more confident wearing make up and it hides my dark bags under my eyes from working the busy nightshift!
I started using guerlain product two years ago. I was shopping in the House Of Fraser in glasgow which is a large department store and is similar to debenhams. I was at the Guerlain beauty counter just browsing and was asked if i would like a free make up make over. I was given a free lipgloss worth £19.00 at the end.
I bought this Ombre Eclat eyeshadow 6 months ago, It cost me £19.00 which is the average price to pay for this eyeshadow. I got mine in a purple shade.
The packaging is so glam, Comes in a small gloss black box with the brands name in gold writing. Very high quality for a wee box id throw away. The eye shadow itself is a small square shape with curved edges. The lid is a bright glossy gold colour with guerlian engraved on it. When you open the eyeshadow its like a compact and includes a small mirror and brush to apply the eyeshadow.
The eyeshadow looks shimmery and and pearly. Its very easy to apply and you can use the little brush supplied but i have mac make up brushes and find them easy to handle compared to the small brush. If i am wearing this during the day i just apply it across the eye lid very lightly and it looks natural and not overdone but if im going out in the evening i sweep it across the eye lid and the lower eye line for a more dramatic look. I apply it in fine layers to build it up to how bright i want it to be.
The eyeshadow is a powder but feels different to other powder eyeshadows i have used. It feels soft and has a velvet feel, The colour shimmers in different tones in the light.
I also bought a few colour so i could create different looks and accent them together but for me thats a night time look.
I must say guerlian is for me the best make up i have ever used but some people may be put off by the price. It covers well and feels light on your skin and can create different looks with one eyeshadow.
I give this 5 dooyoo stars x
