Sophisticated little lady
When I was a lot younger, I did like my roller ball lip glosses. At the time, I always used to have one in my bag or pocket which I would apply far too frequently, and I considered them to be the height of sophistication.
As much as I like to think I've moved on from this, I somehow couldn't resist giving one a try for nostalgia's sake when I spotted them whilst buying a few cheap cosmetics online recently. Priced at just 75p I decided it would be rude not to. And it's cool to be retro, right?
This is available in a range of flavours but I opted for bubblegum - it just seemed right somehow.
A touch of nostalgia
This comes in a clear glass tube with a screwtop lid, and differs to the tubes pictured here and actually look a bit nicer. And underneath the lid is the rollerball! It really is a nostalgic product and I quite enjoyed applying this! I did find that it doesn't go on evenly and of course you can't really control how much of the gloss comes out, so I had to go over my lips quite a few times. The gloss does smell of bubblegum - it isn't too strong though which is a good thing as it stops it being sickly.
This leaves lips feeling really smooth, and the flavour lingers a little and is quite nice. It gives lips a nice glossy sheen too. But it does need reapplying quite a lot - it doesn't exactly have fantastic staying power.
In all honesty the novelty of this soon wore off for me and it is now in the possession of my four year old daughter who seems to enjoy using it a lot! It is definitely a good gloss for younger ones.
In summary ...
This product is far from perfect but I actually quite like it. It is fun and cute, and it is a nice blast from the past. For 75p it is hard to fault, but I will knock off a star as it can be tricky to apply, and it needs reapplying quite a lot.
