      Organic eye liner

Being a bit of a beauty product addict, I always like to try out new things and vary the brands that I use. One of my most exciting discoveries in recent months has been finding online companies that provide beauty boxes. These usually contain various make-up, skin care, fragrance products etc, and I have been trying a few from different suppliers. I received a full size INIKA Eye Liner pencil in my latest delivery from "Glossy Box". You can find further information at www.glossybox.co.uk, and www.inikacosmetics.co.uk. The RRP for this product is £11.75.

Product description: "INIKA Certified Organic eyeliners have a rich and creamy consistency unparalleled in the world of natural liners. Formulated to glide on easily, they deliver even depth of colour and real stay-ability. The colour pigments work in harmony with INIKA eyeshadows to create dramatic and iridescent effects. This organic formula is perfect for the most sensitive eyes."

The eye liner is a standard pencil style, and comes with a lid to protect the soft point. It comes in a range of 8 different colours, and I have the shade "purple minx". I wouldn't usually wear purple as I'm not convinced it suits me, but seeing as it was selected for me I thought I may as well give it a try. I have dark brown eyes and think the purple colour stands out really well against them, and I'm sure this shade would look particularly stunning on any green eyed girls. The purple colour is a rich, jewel-like tone and is deep without being too dark or too bright. It is actually very flattering and I have been able to work it into a number of different make-up looks.

This fits in nicely with my natural everyday eye make-up and I simply apply to the top lash line over my usual shimmery beige eye shadow to add a hint of colour. It works perfectly for a smoky eye look, which never usually suits me, but I find by using a heavy line of this purple shade across the top and lower lash lines this looks really effective and is dramatic without looking too dark. My other favoured look is to team this with a shiny metallic gold eye shadow, and do a heavy line on the top lashes with a slight wing at the edge which gives a luxurious, glamorous look. I was surprised at how versatile a purple coloured eye pencil could be, and I am actually enjoying using this quite a lot, and I'm happy that it's encouraged me to play around with a colour that I wouldn't usually wear. The only bad thing I would say is that it looks a bit odd and unhealthy (!) when applied to the waterline, and if I want to make a real impact with this colour then I prefer to use the purple eye liner underneath my lower lash line, and then use a black eye liner pencil on the waterline to make the purple shade really "pop" and stand out.

The eye liner is soft and creamy and has a lovely texture to it. It feels lovely and smooth against the skin and spreads easily allowing you to build up your desired level of colour. The colour comes out clearly and you don't have to rub repetitively at the delicate skin around your eye area. The creamy consistency makes this eye liner a real pleasure to use, as it does not dry out the skin or drag across the eyelid when being applied. It is easy to keep it fresh by sharpening the top end of the pencil, and this helps to keep a neat point for tidy application. I find it easier to apply eye liner when it's in pencil or pen form rather than a liquid or gel eye liner with a brush. I feel confident when using this eye liner pencil as it is easy to use and I get a mess-free application every time.

The eye liner wears incredibly well and has great staying power. The colour does not fade during the day at all and stays put during the whole of my time at work if I'm wearing it in the week, or all night long if I'm wearing it on a night out at the weekend. I did worry that because it has such a soft, creamy consistency to it that it would bleed and smudge, but it actually stays exactly where it should do until I take it off with make-up remover, and it doesn't run even in the slightest. As well as undergoing the normal everyday wear, this has also been put to the test during windy and rainy weather, sitting all day in an overheated office, and sweating it out on the dancefloor celebrating a friend's birthday. I can confirm that it performs exceptionally well under all circumstances! I think this is an excellent piece that is now a much-used choice in my make-up kit. It's hassle-free, easy to apply, long lasting and provides a simple, non-scary way to experiment and introduce some colour into your look.

This is my first experience of using an INIKA product, and I must say I have been really impressed. This eye liner is of a high quality, looks gorgeous, lasts well and is certified organic - what more could you want?! The cost might be a little off-putting but I think it's well worth it. I can thoroughly recommend this INIKA eye liner, and I will be looking into the other items in their make-up range.

An OK liner if you want cruelty free etc.

This is a review of Inika Cosmetics certified organic eyeliner which I received in a beauty box recently. Unfortunately I was not very excited to receive peacock blue as my colour but I still wanted to try the eyeliner as I had heard good reports of the brand from other people (many of whom received a better colour than me!).

      Product description
The eye pencil is boxed and inside it has a clear plastic lid to protect the tip. What makes this eyeliner unique is its organic properties. The eyeliner is described as rich and creamy consistency unparalleled in the world of natural liners. There are eight colours available:

      - Black caviar
      - Coco
      - Graphite
      - Green Lagoon
      - Purple minx
      - Sapphire
      - White crystal
      - Peacock blue

      The Claim
INIKA Certified Organic eyeliners have a rich and creamy consistency unparalleled in the world of natural liners. Formulated to glide on easily, they deliver even depth of colour and real stay-ability. The colour pigments work in harmony with INIKA eyeshadows to create dramatic and iridescent effects. This organic formula is perfect for the most sensitive eyes.
Each INIKA Eye Liner comes with a complimentary sharpener lid (this is different to my sample liner).

      Price and availability
A full sized liner costs £11.75 and can be purchased direct from inikacosmetics.co.uk

      In use
As I stated earlier, this was not a colour I would have picked so I was trying it more to see what the INIKA brand was like and how it applied. The pencil was surprisingly soft and it went on really well. The colour was strong and long lasting. I didn't want to pile it on due to the blue colour but found it worked well in moderation, stroked on the lower lash line and pencilled in a little stronger over the upper lash.

      My thoughts
I liked the concept of this organic and natural eye liner. It was kind to my eye area and removed easily with cleanser and cotton wool. I would have got on better with black, grey or brown but it is nice to be forced outside of your comfort zone sometimes! I think the price is average for a quality eye liner and I like the idea of the actual product having a sharpener included on the lid.

      Final word
I would recommend the INIKA brand and obviously when purchasing you can buy a better colour that suits your skin tone and colourings. I can't fault the quality of this eye pencil and like the fact that it is free from parabens, talc, fragrance and fillers and is also suitable for vegans.
