Quickies

I always like to take nail polish remover pads when going away on holiday as they are lighter and easier to carry in my luggage.

The Quickies nail polish remover pads cost around £2 from Superdrug but can be bought for £1 online for 20 pads and are available in chemists and supermarkets.

They come packaged in a plastic box with the insturctions and information on the back and when I lift up the lid I find that there is a foil covering to peel off to reveal the pads. Fortunately, the foil covering is one which can be removed without the use of scissors or any other sharp implements.

The pads themselves are almost a square shape and rounded at the edges. When I first feel one I am aware that they feel quite thin and I wondered if they would rip or tear during use. They are ridged all over on one side and smooth on the other, and i assume it is the ridged side which is used for the nail polish removal as probably it will get a better grip on the polish. unusually they don't have, as I expected, the usual nail polish remover. they are scented but it is not over powering and they smell almost as though an attempt has been made to make them perfumed. They are not overly damp and actually feel quite dry when i take them out of the box.

The pads apparently contain Vitamin B and panthenol to protect and nourish nails, so they shouldn't have an extremely drying effect.

To remove nail polish, a pad should be wiped over the nail and in a single stroke presumably to loosen the nail polish. Once this is done, the pad should be worked back over the nail with a firm rubbing action to ensure all of the nail polish is removed. Once all of the polish is removed, and use of the pads is finished the lid should be closed with a firm click so that moisture is not lost from the pads.

The product should not be used on artificial nails.

WHAT DO I THINK OF THE PADS>

I have used similar pads before and sometimes found them to be a lot less effective than nail polish remover, but I was impressed with these. i found that using a pad for the nails on each hand got the nail polish completely off my nails. They are easy to use, remove nail polish easily, and although I thought otherwise, the pads are strong and do not rip or tear when being used. My nails have not become dry or brittle when using them so the claims that they contain nourishing ingredients are probably not false.

I would recommend these for anyone wanting a quick and simple way of removing nail polish on the go, although they are probably a bit pricey for times when normal nail polish remover is a viable option.
