I have only recently become aware of the brand Korres, and they are a Greek cosmetic company who produce various skincare, bodycare and make up items. I loved the look of some of their make up, therefore I picked up a few of them, and this shimmering eye shadow was just one of them.
I love how Korres make use of their packaging, as it is fairly simple yet very effective. I tends to stick to an all white, clean packaging, with the brand name on it. It does not look cheap, and I feel that it looks quite expensive and of a high quality. It is available in a wide range of colours and these are:
* 12S Base
* 18S Grey Brown Base
* 22S Orange
* 24S Gold
* 34S Golden Brown
* 42S Green White
* 44S Golden Green (with corallina extract)
* 46S Olive Green
* 54S Dark Grey
* 64S Pink
* 74S Light Purple
* 82S Light Blue
As you can see from this list there is a wide range of colours to choose from, and most of these are very natural, pretty colours which are not difficult to pull off. If you are after bright and bold colours, I would not suggest Korres, however I would suggest brands such as Barry M who offer a wide range of colours to suit everyone. The particular colour I own is 24S Gold, and this is the one I will be reviewing, therefore pigmentation and colour pay off may be much better or worse with different colours.
The shade itself was not a bright gold colour, it was instead a very soft, wearable shade of gold. It is very shimmery, therefore is perfect for a night out when built up, however is also as perfect for daytime wear as it is not bright or in your face. It is highly pigmented, meaning the colour pay off is excellent, and one of the best I have seen in eye shadows. When just sweeping my finger or a brush on it very lightly, lots of colour comes on to it. This is excellent as it means you can apply the eye shadow quickly and easily, as well as only needing to use a little bit at a time. This means that the 1.8 grams of product can last you much longer than perhaps a drugstore brand eye shadow such as Rimmel may last.
Staying power is important to me, as I do not often have the time to reapply my make up within the day if I am at college or working, or even if I have gone out for the day. I find it easier to just put some make up on in the morning and not have to worry about how it looks throughout the day. Eye shadow is often a product that I do not get along with, simply because it tends to rub off or dust on to your face. I found that this particular eye shadow was very long lasting, and I did not have to reapply throughout the day. As well as this, the eyeshadow did not crease, which is a problem I do also face, particularly in the hot weather.
This eye shadow is dermatologically tested, therefore no animals are tested on when producing it. It is also free of mineral oil and propylene glycol free which is excellent. Korres offer lots of natural ingredients within their products, as well as not harming animals in the making of them.
Furthermore, this eye shadow contains sunflower oil which is excellent for use on your eye area, as it is very delicate. This means that this product would be great for people with sensitive skin. Korres also offer a similar eye shadow range which contan sunflower oil as well as evening primrose oils which offer an even wider selection of colours.
This eye shadow retails at around £10.75 which is obviously a very expensive price to pay for eye shadow. You can purchase it directly from Korres' website at www.korres.com or alternatively I have seen it on ASOS. This eye shadow is also on Amazon for £11.09 (as of July 2010). I feel it is an excellent eye shadow that is worth paying more for, however for me personally, over £10 is just too expensive to be paying for one. I managed to get mine cheaper in a set which was very lucky, however I am not sure I am that pleased with it to have paid over £10 for it.
Another downfall of this product is that people may find it too shimmery to use. I like my eye shadow to have some shimmer in it, but this is too much for me, therefore I will only apply it for the night time.
Overall, I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of this, as well as of all other Korres products, and they are definately a brand in which you should check out, but perhaps when they are on sale! Thanks for reading.
