      Excellent quality, highly recommend!

So I purchased this item as a little treat to myself, and it was exactly that! I don''t usually wear lipgloss because, for me, it isn''t long lasting and makes my lips feel sticky. However, this lipgloss completely changed my mind. It is durable throughout the day and doesn''t need much of a top up. It doesn''t have that ''heavy'' lipgloss feel but more of a moisturising effect that gives a smooth shiny finish to your lips. The colour is beautiful - it is a gentle stain colour that isn''t too overwhelming. It is versatile and can be worn to a sophisticated dinner or a wild night out! Even for someone with darker coloured lips the colour of the lipgloss stands out and really suits a tanned skin tone. It complements it well. The lipgloss is super easy to apply due to the shapely applicator head. The applicator is a kind of heart/leaf shape that makes it easy to apply to the curves of your lips. It just glides on! Additionally, the smell of the lipgloss is pretty good too. It is fresh and fragrant but not strong. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially to those who do not necessarily like wearing lip glosses because of the heavy, sticky texture of them, because this lip gloss is not like any other one out there. It is of premium quality and feels weightless on your lips, almost invisible.

Be natural, be beautiful like your lip gloss!

I bought this yesterday as a cheeky little gift to myself while Christmas shopping and to be honest my opinion had changed after using this! I first saw this when Cheryl Cole (the face of L'Oreal) was modeling this lip gloss in the adverts. The affect was it that it felt like water but the color stained, at first I thought, again L'Oreal trying to make customers buy this product or customers will buy this product because Cheryl Cole is modeling the lip gloss. But it said exactly what it said the advert - result!

I bought the 300 Juliet shade which is a deep colored red and when you apply it, it actually looks like blood which may look terrifying for some people, but when the gloss wears off and all that it left is a stain, it is actually a very nice shade and made my lips look really natural, so nobody could tell if I was wearing a lip gloss, lip stick or left my lips all natural! The good thing about this product, is that it made my lips soft, although it does feel a little sticky at first, but my lips still felt soft!

The presentation of this product is beautiful, and looks expensive too! Although the product costs about £7, because it is quite recent, and this is how much L'Oreal normally charge for their lip glosses and lip sticks. It is presented as a gold fang-like bottle, with a band around the top (just before you open the lip gloss) and the band shows the color of the gloss you are buying. When you open it, I love the shape of the wand, L'Oreal call it a 'heart shaped wand' but to be honest it's more like a tear drop shaped which is nice and it does represent the product and what it's job is, so good advertising there L'Oreal! You can buy this for the same price at stores like Super drug and Boots. Although you can get 10% at Superdrug if you have a valid NUS card (students only sadly!) But Superdrug and Boots do offers like three for the price of two or buy one get one half price - make sure you keep your eyes peeled for these offers, as they do advertise quite often!
The presentation is probably one of my favorite things about this product.

You can get this gloss in various colors such as pink (more natural pink rather than bright or baby pink) coral, red and a bronze-brown type colors. These are great colors because they are excellent choices if you want to achieve a natural look rather than a made-up look which is common in most lip glosses and lip sticks.

I will be buying more of these, for the color and the fact I love this product overall! I will also be wearing this a lot more often in the new year and will be carrying this in my make-up bag 24/7!

A really nice new product with great, natural shades

Having signed up for L'Oreal's Insider website group, I was messaged a couple of months ago by a PR / Marketing type bod who wondered if I would trial their new product, GlamShine Stain.

I may not be the glossiest female alive but any opportunity to try a new product from a brand I really like for the princely sum of sod all appeals to something very deep rooted in my psyche. So I promptly had her arm off (metaphorically speaking).

      ***GLAMSHINE STAIN***

This is a L'Oreal lip product - marketed as "a gloss that acts like a stain". Presumably, they don't mean when I get gravy down my top.

Okay, the inevitable marketing claims are thus:

What they claim to have produced is a 30% water-based formula which will hydrate lips whilst offering up to 6 hours of coverage without drying out the lips at all.

Also they like to rate their "feather soft wand" which is meant to perfectly contoured to your lips

      ***ANY GOOD?***

I was excited to find my product had arrived - not least because of its beautiful packaging.

Retailing at £7.99, this product has been made to look very polished, admittedly in plastic. You have a gold vial-type container, with a screw-top lid which reveals a black plastic wand which ends in a very contoured, heart-shaped soft wand.

In between the body of the "gold" vial and the lid you have a gap through which you can clearly see the exact shade of your gloss, or stain, or tint, or...oh sod knows what these products are any more. The lines between "balm" and "lipstick" are well and truly blurred and there's no going back.

But the point is you can see the colour in a small clear compartment that goes around the holder. And it works nicely - this range has eight shades, each given a female character. I was sent Romy, a soft pink which happened to be an ideal match for me.

On opening I saw that the contoured brush has not just rounded and sharpened edges to match the shapes of the lip as you apply, but also dips in the centre of the brush - these catch a certain amount of product which I find perfectly coats the lips. This brush is a bloody revelation - they should patent it and live off every other cosmetic brand for the rest of time. It is soft, tilted just right, and has enough product to make you feel happy with one sweep with no wastage or feeling that your lips are loaded with rubbish.

You do get the slightly sticky feeling of a gloss but this is a nice product so it is not cloying and irritating. It just feels professional.

Now I have two problems with the product: first of all when your product drops down through use you can see that the mechanism that leaves a certain amount of product on the wand leaves a lot wedged under a lip in the lid - ie wasted. This is frustrating, but you never know how much the vial design is wasting anyway because of the gold finish - which, by the way, is lasting up well against the abuse it receives daily in my bag.

The other is that I don't think it delivers on the six hour of colour claim - yes it lasts quite nicely, but it doesn't "stain" and whilst it holds up much better than lipstick and gloss when eating and drinking (remarkably so in fact), it does not last that long for me.

But on to the positives: the packaging looks nice, and stays that way despite feeling a bit cheap. There has never been any leakage from the lid, despite this feeling quite wet on application. The feeling after application is a little gloss-like stickiness but no gloopiness and this has, as claimed, never dried my lips out - quite the opposite. I really enjoy wearing this because it offers that slight polish of a definite hint of natural-looking colour without gloss, fuss or faff.

Also, my tube of product is lasting really well. The brush is so soft and is tilted perfectly to apply a full covering in one go - unless you are La Jolie - and the colour resulting from application is subtle yet polished. It never has that teenage shiny look and the tones throughout the range look really natural and tactful - just what I look for in a lip product.

So in short, I really am taken by this product, far more than I anticipated. I'm amazed the light-feeling packaging has held up so well and the overall experience of using it suggests that it can aspire to rival the better-dressed beauty equivalents that it is so obviously aiming to emulate.
