“ Brand: L'Oréal / Type: Lipstick / Suitable for: Lip „
I've been using L'Oreal Invincible Platinum Lipsticks for quite a few years now, in fact, so many years that I can't actually say if it's 8 years or 12, I just don't remember! What I do know is that I've never before or since found such a decent lipstick that does exactly what it claims to do and more that I've wanted to keep using for as long as I continue to use lipstick.
L'Oreal Invincible Platinum Lipstick claims to give you 8 hours of intense colour with a shimmering finish with no dryness. From my personal experience over many years of use I can categorically state that this claim is 100% true. I've applied this lippie in the morning before going to work, had breakfast and lunch during the day and come home without needing to re-apply, in many cases even after 10 hours.
I've never particularly had a problem with dry lips but this lipstick keeps my lips moist and supple and I've found since using this brand that I've never suffered with dry lips issues. Now it's not that I have greasy lips or anything weird like that but I do sincerely believe that this particular "make" and "model" of lipstick is a huge contributory factor to me not having to worry about using lip salve or lip balm.
There is a big negative side to this lipstick though and that is that it's not widely available anymore. How annoying is it when you find a fabulous product that suits you so well and the company discontinues the colours you were most fond of?
When L'Oreal Invincible Platinum Lipstick first came out there was an abundance of colours available. Unfortunately my absolute favourite shade which was 920 - Platinum Crimson (a deep colour) is not widely available anymore. In fact, the last time I managed to track it down, I had the foresight to order all 4 of them that were available and the other day when I tried to source it again I saw it for £30 on ebay (the justification for the price was that it was such a rare shade now). My next favourite shade is 907 - Platinum Cherry which I use mostly for work as it's not too bright a colour for the workplace. I also use shade 930 once in while when going out as this is a bright red shade.
I have noticed that shades 916 - Platinum Topaz, 900 - Platinum Candy and 909 - Platinum Coffee seem to be easily available but they're not shades I've tried personally (yet). Who knows? When I run out of my current stock of a dozen or so of my favourite colours, I might try out these different shades and get as attached to them as I have the ones I've already been using for years.
I would add here that all of the Platinum range have a shimmery effect, so as well as looking good and moisturising your lips, it also gives the effect that you're wearing lip gloss. The one advantage this has over standard lip gloss is that it doesn't leave tell tale marks over drinks glasses as much as lip gloss does.
These lipsticks come in a silver casing, nothing spectacular about the packaging. It holds the 18g of lipstick perfectly well and works as most other lipsticks do, remove the lid and twist the base of the lipstick to use. I'm not going to insult anyone here by explaining how lipstick should be applied to the lips nor am I going to invent any other uses for this lipstick as it's meant pure and simply to be used as a lipstick.
L'Oreal Invincible Platinum Lipsticks are available online on various sites and at the time of writing they can be purchased from as little as £2.00 each (when they originally came out, I seem to recall they were about £7 or £8 each and I have paid up to £10 for my favourite shades from ebay stores in the past). I would advise you to be careful when purchasing these online unless you know exactly which shade you're after as the photos of the shades do not always match exactly the colour you're going to get. On some sites for example they just seem to use a stock photo of the actual lipstick and the colour in no way represents the actual shade you'll end up with.

I like cosmetic products and I really enjoy trying different products, sometimes I find they are fantastic and I continue to buy them but often they are not that good and I realise I have just wasted money. I really must say this L'Oreal Lipstick was the latter and really not for me.
The lipstick cost me £3.99 online from Cosmetic House. It can be bought at lots of other online stores and also in high street stores for example Superdrug. The shade I bought this lipstick in was shade 906 Platinum Red.
The lipstick comes in a white plastic tube, it looks quite good presentation wise and the lipstick twists up the white tube perfectly. The tube contains 18g of lipstick. The lipstick is a really lovely vibrant red colour, it looks bright and glossy. The actual lipstick has quite an odd shape and when I try to apply it the application is not at all precise, it is overlaping my lips, at this point I decide to apply it with a lipstick brush. This works a lot better, the lipstick applies evenly, it does not look too bad on, actually really nice. This L'Oreal lipstick offers 8 hours of lasting and intense colour with a shimmering finish. It also states that no touch ups are required and there is no dryness with this lipstick.
So with the lipstick applied with my lipstick brush, blotted with tissue and the reapplied off out I go. The lipstick has not got much taste and it is quite bitter, I would be surprised if this lipstick lasts an hour never mind 8 hours as it even looks a bit slippery but I keep an open mind.
A drink or two later and the lipstick is not standing the test of time, I also have a rim of lipstick on my wine glass. Two hours later I apply more lipstick. So really it will not last 8 hours and I could see it getting a bit annoying having to apply it with the lipstick brush all the time.
All in all when first applied this lipstick really has good colour, it says it has a shimmering finish but this was not very shimmering just a nice rich red colour, really not unlike the Elizabeth Arden Lipstick I am using at the moment. The biggest problem with this lipstick is that it does not last long, another problem I found was that it is difficult to apply.
This lipstick only cost £3.99 and since buying it for £3.99 I have seen it being sold for less than £3. It is available in lots of different shades about 30 in total so it will be easy to find a shade that suits you. The lipstick has no SPF but it does contain vitamin e and this stops the lipstick drying out and bleeding. My problem was not the lipstick drying out as the lipstick did not last long enough on my lips to dry out.
In closing, if you can manage to apply this lipstick straight from the tube and you don't mind reapplying it at about 2 hour intervals then it is not a bad lipstick for the price I paid and it is a really nice shade. I will use this lipstick until it is finished but it's not for me and I won't buy it again.
L'Oreals Invincible Platinum has been recently replaced by Infallible Gold, and rightly so! However as it can still be bought, usually at discount drug stores and online for about £3 or £4, I thought I better still leave a review and sound the warning siren!
Straight away the word 'invincible' implies it lasts a long time. Unfortunate it does not, quickly drying on the lips and then downhill from there - only a matter of time till it wears away usually creating a horrible patchy look. The lipstick is unusually really 'slippy' to put on, leaving a greasy, I've just eaten a deep fried battered sausage with my fingers feel. However it is infused with either gold or silver ~(depending on your colour shade)~tiny reflective points creating a nice sparkling effect and this is its only redeeming feature.
I find that all L'Oreal lippys have a strong scent... but my... not as strong as this! Not to say that it's a particularly bad thing, just a tad unusual.
I don't usually mention packaging in my reviews as I find it a little silly when there is a perfectly picture, but I feel I must say something now; it comes in a seemingly sleek looking silver tube. Within a few days of usage, chips where beginning to show in the silver now obviouly paint packaging. Considering it was such an abysmal lipstick and did not see much use, it brings me to the conclusion that L'Oreal just cobbled this whole thing together...badly. It shook my confidence in them as a brand and I didn't buy from their range for a while. There is no way I would recommend this to anybody, in-fact I didn't even give it to my Niece to play with, it just went straight in the bin!
Do I really have to give this hunk'o'junk a star?
I can't remember the name of the colour I have used in the past but it was a deep rose / plum colour.
It comes in a lovely silver and gold casing. The thing I remeber the most about this product is that strong, perfumed smell that reminds me of very poor quality, cheap lipstick that I used to play dress up with when I was a kiddie.
Well after you get over the smell and apply it things get a little better. It's easy to apply goes on smoothly and evenly, there is no need to put more than one layer on as it covers well.
It gives a lovely matt finish (depending on what shade you use). It's a good colour selection for me as the the deeper colours match the usual colours I use.
The down side is that it is not invincible, it lasts a good couple of hours but unfortunately after eating or drinking it soon starts to come off. I just think with invincible as part of the name it should last a lot longer and have some resistance to eating and drinking.
It's ok but nothing to write home about.
I buy and own a lot of lipsticks. I often forget which ones I have because I put them away in the drawer when tidying and don't see them again for another couple of months. This is one I rediscovered recently. This was actually recommended for me by a lady working on the L'Oreal stand some time ago. .
The packaging is nice enough. It's a silver tube which twists up gold on the inside. The shade I bought was 901 Rose Platinum. The shade name was done on the end of the tube so that it glitters which was a nice touch. I also noticed that the lipstick smelt quite strongly with a very artificial note about it. I think this is probably one of the more expensive looking lipsticks I own.
The lipstick itself is a mid to bright pink which looks quite nice in the tube and you can see the glitter particles. Sadly it looks better in the tube than worn. For a start I think the pink is too bright though I suppose this is more really the bad suggestion by the sales lady rather than the product itself but I think they have gone way overhead with the glitter aspect. I understand that they are trying to make the lipstick more interesting but instead there is way too much glitter here and it ends up being far too sparkly, for example, you wouldn't really want to wear this to work, and moreover sometimes when I look at it I look like a kid who has been given a box of kid's Barbie makeup for her seventh birthday or something.
It's just not right for me. I think the glitter has been overdone though I suppose it may be suitable as a 'going out lipstick'. I think I will be returning this to the drawer where it probably should have stayed...
I am not sure if L'Oreal still do this range at the chemist any more. I can't say I'd be surprised if it were discontinued. If it is still in the shops I think it would cost roughly £7.99 so I am sure they go cheap on ebay too.
