I love wearing a lip stick on a night out but I do think it is too much for work and going shopping so I normally just wear a slick of gloss with a bit of colour to it. I can't be bothered to be continuously applying lip gloss for the whole day long so I like ones that are long lasting. I was first attracted to the L'oreal one because it claimed to last for 6 hours at a time. In my experience of using this I would say that the claim of 6 hours is wildly exaggerated but does stay on lips for a couple of hours before you need to reapply it. This is quite a shiny and glossy one so I wouldn't wear it to work as it is quite a statement but it is quite nice for a bit of colour and shine when it is appropriate and it does come in a large selection of different colours to choose from. It gives a good pop of colour to my lips but it isn't as dark as a lip stick. The gloss is shiny but I did think it was a little bit sticky feeling on my lips which wasn't something that I liked. I prefer a more natural feeling gloss than this. It looks absolutely lovely when you first apply it but I do think that it feels a little bit heavy and also you need to be careful when applying it as otherwise it can become a bit lumpy looking. The applicator is nice to use though and makes it easier to apply neatly than it would be otherwise. This stays put on lips for a good couple of hours as long as you don't have a drink because it does not react well with water and comes off really easily even just sipping from a glass. This is a ok gloss with some lovely colours but there are nicer ones available that last as long or longer but feel more natural on the lips. It is also quite expensive and I don't think that it is worth 8.69. If it cost 3.00 then I might have been convinced to buy it again but not for that price.
Part of the L'Oreal range, L'Oreal Glam Shine lipgloss in Tart Lollipop comes in attractive packaging with a unique angled brush.
Just like the sand bottles you used to make on the beach you can see a swirl of two shades of pink: baby pink and dark pink through the bottle.
The liquid in the bottle seems to have a real shimmer and sparkle but once applied you can't see any of that initial shimmer, instead your lips are left glossy but with no substance to them. Despite the gloss having a colour in the bottle once it's applied the gloss is completely clear, how does that work?! Perhaps if my lips were white a little bit of colour might show up...
The angled brush is quite a original feature which means you can get to the underside of your lip quite easily without having to maneouvre.
Once application is quite enough as it does tend to get quite sticky and if the wind was to blow you'd end up with all your hair stuck to your lips.
The smell and taste are pleasant, a rather fruity combination, however it does get a little too much when it ends up in your mouth.
I wouldn't say the lipgloss lasts 6 hours, a rather exaggerated assumption by L'Oreal I would have to say. It probably last 2 hours tops.
~*~*~ L'Oreal Paris Glam Shine 6 Hour Wear Lip Gloss ~*~*~
I love lip gloss! Next to nail varnish, it is probably one of the pieces of make up I buy most regularly. Whilst at work and throughout the week I normally opt for natural colours like pinks and peaches and if I am out for the evening, I like to experiment with more bold and bright colours. When picking a lip gloss I am quite shallow, I normally go for ones which have girlie or interesting packaging and this has not always been the best way of picking. Nevertheless, I picked this lip gloss as it had an unusual design and it was the most eye catching lip gloss displayed. Another reason I selected this lip gloss was because on the front of the tube it stated that it lasted for up to 6 hours. Please see below for my thoughts on this product...
~*~*~ What Is It? ~*~*~
This is a lip gloss by L'Oreal which claims to last for up to 6 hours. This lip gloss comes in a transparent, plastic tube which has a slight hour glass shape. The lid is also made from plastic and beneath the first layer of transparent plastic is a silver colour. Attached to the lid is the wand and at the bottom of the wand it the heart-shaped, foam applicator. The applicator is slightly angled which is something I have never seen before. On the front of the lip gloss tube, in silver writing, is the L'Oreal Paris logo and the products name (Glam Shine 6H). The tube holds 17ml of lip gloss.
This lip gloss comes in 13 different shades:
- 102 Always Pink
- 004 Immortal Pearl
- 307 Infinite Desert
- 112 Keep The Sweet
- Fresh Fuchsia
- Fresh Cassis
- Fresh Grenadine
- Fresh Tangerine
- 103 Forever Nude
- 105 Hold-on Rose
- 201 Loyal Wild Rose
- 300 Golden Tattoo
- 501 Purple Obsession
All shades have a natural, light colour to them. They are all quite have elements of light pinks, peaches or light browns. To apply, you simply unscrew the lid and apply to the lips. L'Oreal claim that, 'just one sweep is enough to achieve plump, gloss looking lips'.
~*~*~ Price And Availability ~*~*~
I purchased this lip gloss from Boots for £8.69 where it was on a 3 for 2 offer. You can also purchase this from Superdrug and most chemists.
~*~*~ My Thoughts ~*~*~
I really like the look of this lip gloss, the tube is unusual and it is very eye catching. The tube is quite chunky, so you feel like you are getting a lot for your money. When I removed the lid and studied the applicator I was quite surprised to see an angled, heart shaped foam sponge, as this is something I hadn't seen or used before. The applicator held a good amount of gloss and went on smoothly. I found it very easy to apply to the bottom lip but a bit more tricky to apply to the top lip. I think this is because the applicator is angled in such a way that it only seems that is shaped to go on your bottom lip. Also because the applicator is quite chunky, I need to use a mirror to apply this gloss which can be a pain, as I do not always carry a mirror with me. The consistency of the lip gloss is quite thick and gloopy. Once I applied this gloss to my lips they felt incredibly sticky which I found to be very irritating.
The colour I choose was '102 Always Pink', which is a peachy-pink colour. After I applied this gloss to my lips I looked in the mirror and I was not very impressed. The main colour was attractive but my lips were like a disco ball. The amount of glitter in this lip gloss is unbelievable, and not in a good way. It was just too over the top and like something I might have used when I was 12. I know the products name is 'Glam Shine', but I thought the shine would just be the glossiness rather than loads of sparkle. I have used lip gloss in the past which have had a bit of sparkle and I really liked it, but unfortunately this lip gloss was just tacky.
After applying the lip gloss for work I decided to remove it as I thought it was just a bit too much. I have worn this on a night out and it didn't even last an hour, the staying power is dreadful. It is a pet hate of mine when manufacturers claim that products last 'up to' a certain amount of time when they clearly do not, just so they can sell a product. Overall this is probably one of the worst lip glosses I have used, after using it only a handful of times I gave it away to my little cousin (who is 6).
~*~*~ Would I Recommend? ~*~*~
No, I would not recommend this lip gloss. It is far to sparkly and too sticky for my liking. If I was in my early teens I might like this lip gloss, but for an adult it is just too over the top. I was very disappointed with my buy and I shall not be repurchasing. I am surprised that L'Oreal can claim that it last up to 6 hours, when in fact it is one of the worst lip glosses I have used in terms of durability. I am going to give this lip gloss 2 out of 5 Dooyoo stars.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review :o)
Over the years, I have used many brands of lip glosses and lip sticks both of out necessity and to make my lips beautiful. If I go 20 minutes without applying lip gloss or lip stick after eating, I have terrible cases of cracked lips and dry burns. So I always keep a tube of lip gloss/stick in my bag whenever I go out.
I have used several of L'oreal products over the years. Most of the time, I am satisfied with L'oreal products since the quality is acceptable of their costs. However with this lip gloss, I'm on the fence and I don't know whether I love it or just want to put it in the back of my vanity drawer. L'oreal did this promotion where you receive a goody box with bits and bobs if you spend over £15 on L'oreal products. This 6 hr Glam Shine lip gloss is one of the promotional products in the box I received when I made the eligible purchase. I was quite pleased with what's in the box considering this lip gloss costs £8.69 (Boots) more or less depending on where you buy it from.
The shape of the bottle is quite nice to hold while you're applying lip gloss. However, I do find that the bottle takes up quite a lot of space compared to other lip gloss containers. The capacity of the container is 17ml, which is reasonable for a lip gloss. The one I received as a gift is the 'Fresh Fuschia' colour. It has the shade of petal pink and it looks quite nice on my lips.
So what's the verdict? The wand applicator is advertised is the novel design; it has a heart-shaped foam applicator at the end for easy and broad coverage. From my experience, it's not much different from other lip gloss applicators. Another thing I disliked about the applicator is that it is angled, so it actually makes it difficult to apply to my top lip in exchange for easy application to my bottom lip. I love the colour of the lip gloss but the consistency is very difficult to ignore: it has quite a sticky consistency (like most lip glosses) and makes it difficult to wear if I'm out and about. British weather tends to be windy most days and I let my hair down if I'm out and about, so most of the time I ended up with sticky strands of hair.
However, the Glam Shine part of the lip gloss is satisfactory. The crystal shine of the gloss colour looks great on my lips without making it looks cheap or too tacky. Due to this, it is ok to wear this lip gloss daily, both night and day. The '6 hour' declaration however is not quite true. I imagine that this lip gloss would last 6 hours in a laboratory condition but it is not applicable in a real life setting. Even if I'm not eating or drinking, the lip gloss would thin out within 2 hours. To be fair, it's the same with all lip glosses even the top brand ones so I don't like to hold this broke declaration against L'oreal.
All in all, this is an acceptable lip gloss from L'oreal. I used mine as a spare when I can't find my lip stick. I received mine for free but I wouldn't buy this at a full price since I rather use a shiny lip stick that won't leave my lips feeling sticky over a lip gloss. It did last long for about 3 months with almost constant use when I'm out and about. Although, the one thing I like about this range is that there are a variety of colours available to suit almost everyone.
Thank you for reading and reviewing. :) x
When I spotted this lip gloss on sale for just £4 from its usual retail price of £9 I decided I would give it a go. It is available in a range of colours that will suit all skin types. I chose the wild rose shade which I think suits my medium skin tone perfectly. The tube is large, and curved a little which does provide a better grip while holding it, but there is something about it I just do not like. I think it is a little too heavy and this adds weight to the application brush.
On twisting the lid to reveal the wand applicator, again there is something about it I just do not like. The wand is angled a little with a nice shaped applicator that looked like it would be very easy to use. I was able to coat my bottom lip with the gloss very easily, and I was actually rather pleased with the applicator. Then because of the angle I was a little stumped at how to apply it to the top of my lips, and I found that it was really a pain to do. I had to keep holding the brush in different ways until I found a comfortable way to apply it so you really do learn with time.
**In use **
You need to apply just the right amount of pressure for it to move over the lips evenly which takes a lot of practise. I have to use a mirror every time that I use this gloss, whereas with others I can just run it across my lips quickly without any trouble. It just sits at a strange, and although the applicator is a good shape to sweep over the lips once it is a lot fiddlier to apply than other glosses I own. The first time I applied this I found I put way too much gloss on my lips making them sticky, and I found it seemed to sit in the middle on my lips a lot more. The results from this gloss are nice in small amounts. It does have a tint of the pink colour in it, but to get a noticeable amount you really need to pile it on. The consistency is a little thick, and you can see the glitter in the gloss while it is still in the bottle very easily. When you put it on your lips it does feel a little heavy at first, but this reduces very quickly until it is light and unnoticeable. If I pres my lips together it still feels a little sticky, but not so much that it is uncomfortable.
The glitter is also very noticeable while on your lips rather than just shining in the light, I find it has more of a full on sparkle. This is not something I like to wear in everyday use as I just find it a little too glittery. I like subtle finishes on my lips, and this just seems to be a little too glamour. I would wear it on a night out but the problem is then drinking just does not mix with this gloss at all it disappears after one cup of tea. The finish is a wet look rather than just a shine which I am not very keen on, and I find you should only apply a small amount otherwise it makes the gloss look very cheap and unattractive. This is a downside for me as you need a lot of the product for the colour to shine through otherwise it just looks like you have added a tub of glitter to your lips. It would be a lot better if there was less of a sheer finish, and more colour as then it would be more subtle.
My problem with this lip gloss is the claim that it will last up to 6 hours. I found this to be total rubbish, if anything it has one of the worst longevity out of any lip gloss I have ever known which is saying something. I find if I add it in the morning while I am getting ready after my first cup of tea it has completely disappeared. It does not seem to slowly reduce it just disappears instantly. If you do not eat, talk drink then it does last a little better but only a few hours at the most but who want to sit silent, and dehydrating just so a lip gloss will last? There is no scent to the gloss which I really like, but the taste is disgusting. I don't go out my way to taste lip products, but it is difficult not too especially with such a foul taste as this gloss has. It tastes really chemically not nice at all. It does not moisturise you lips while in use, and I do find that my lips are a little dry once it has been removed.
I was really disappointed with this gloss, I like a little colour on my lips, and I found this to be very disappointing on that front. Also I find that you can really only use a small amount of the product otherwise it just looks really messy. The 6 hour lasting power claim is complete rubbish I find I am lucky if it last one hour at the most so it does need to be reapplied regularly. The retail cost is around £8 although Amazon often has them reduced so it is worth shopping around if you still want to purchase it.
I have a real thing for lip glosses I seem to have a wide variety to choose from and although my collection of varying lip glosses/sheens/balms is quite big I still seem to buy more especially when I see new shades, new products and offers. I like having a wide selection as my choice of shade can vary quite a bit from the subtle neutral colours to the deeper pinks/purples. The one thing though that I do like out of a lip gloss is staying power, one that can stay on without having to re-apply every 10 minutes.
On my search for another long last lip gloss I came across the L'Oreal Paris Glam Shine 6 Hour Wear Lip Gloss. I bought from Boots for just over £8.00 which for a L'Oreal product was I guess a fair price. The L'Oreal Paris Glam Shine 6 Hour Wear Lip Gloss is apparently L'Oreal's first lip gloss that can shine for up to 6 hours which obviously was something I was looking for. It not only offers a long lasting shine and staying power but also claims to give plump and glossy looking lips.
The shade I opted for was Forever Sweet as I wanted a pink gloss which although quite pale and subtle I wanted it to be noticeable and add a lovely hue of pink. The one that I have gives the colour I am looking for. Not only does it give a gorgeous pink hue but the lip gloss itself has a lovely metallic hue to it giving a lovely depth. The range of shades available is actually quite extensive and most of them are actually quite pale and subtle rather than bold and brash which for me is actually quite nice.
The lip gloss comes in a clear plastic curved tube with a shiny silver chrome top. The shape of the tube varies from others available and is easy to hold when applying the lip gloss. On the front there is the usual L'Oreal logo together with the product name. Because the tube is clear you can clearly see the shade of the lip gloss you have chosen together with knowing when you are coming to the end and it needs replacing. On the back of tube there is the product information and anything else you would need to contact L'Oreal.
The applicator has quite a large heart shaped foam applicator (attached to the screw in top) and for me personally I prefer smaller applicators and generally the brush type ones but this is simply personal preference. The heart shaped applicator does seem to pick up a lot of the lip gloss and I find when I do apply it I get a little too much that I'd like. Since learning this right at the beginning of using this lip gloss I do drag the applicator along the sides of the tube just to get the excess off the applicator but then I am sure the more you use the lip gloss the less the applicator will pick up.
The lip gloss goes on incredibly smoothly and as long as you are not applying too much it gives a lovely even look but of course it is quite glossy but the trick is only applying a thin application which although gives a nice gloss it isn't over the top and is actually a nice subtle gloss. The colour on the lips does look exactly like the one in the tube which is of course nice. If you want the major gloss effect then all you would need to do is to apply a few layers of the lip gloss so that it builds up but I just prefer the more natural gloss look.
Now despite giving a lovely colour and natural looking finish it does have a slight problem. It is incredibly sticky when applied on the lips and I cannot stand sticky lip glosses. It doesn't seem sticky when you first apply but as the hours go by you are left with although I lovely colour a sticky residue on your lips which I find not particularly pleasant. At this point I generally apply a layer of Vaseline over the top to stop it from feeling sticky and for it to be absorbed.
But does it last for 6 hours with a lovely gloss and shine? Well kind of. The colour does seem to remain for at least 4 to 5 hours but the gloss and shine does wear off after a few hours but I am basing that on wearing it whilst at work so it has to endure me drinking tea/water and eating. Whether it would fair better on someone who does nothing then it may be different. But for me it doesn't last the whole 6 hours which because of its stickiness is fine by me!
Overall, this won't be a lip gloss that I will be buying again simply due to its horrible sticky residue it leaves after a few hours of application. If it only lasted say 4 hours and didn't have a sticky residue then even though it didn't live up to its claims I would still be happy with it as I love the colour it gives and the even finish but I just cannot stand the stickiness. For the price I paid I would not recommend it as it can be found cheaper elsewhere. Not for me and I'm only giving it 3 stars.
