I heard so many great things about this mascara that I just had to buy it for myself. I don't usually spend this much on mascaras (RRP £11) but after watching a few YouTube videos I just had to try it out.
I liked the style and the packaging of this product, it looked like a higher end mascara. The gold text on the black bottle really stood out for me and it made me even more excited to try it out.
The brush was a long and thin with tiny bristles that catch every lash. They coated my lashes quickly and they were more than noticeably longer and thicker once I had finished my first set of eyelashes. My lashes didn't clump together and the looked a lot fuller and more defined after using the product - it did exactly what you'd imagine your dream mascara would do. I also found that if I accidentally got any of the product on my face, I could remove it painlessly with a cue tip.
The one and only downside to this product is that it's a pain to take off with makeup remover wipes. I'd find myself vigorously rubbing my eye at the end of the day in order to remove the product from my lashes. It got to a point where I'd still have noticeable 'panda eyes' a few days after using the product - nightmare!
I fell in love with this product the first time I used it I always get complements about how long and thick my eyelashes look when I use the product. Yes! They're my real eyelashes! Definitely a product that I will continue to buy again and again and again. If you're currently using Benefits "They're Real!" mascara, then this is a cheaper dub of the product, it lasts a lot longer too.
I recently bought this mascara from the L'Oreal range and am rather impressed with it! I have a few firm favourite mascaras but since joining Dooyoo I've actually started branching out on things as I read so many reviews on new products that it inspires me to try buying new things. Hence me buying a new mascara.
I've had many L'Oreal mascaras in the past and have always thought highly of their mascaras so I had a look at getting one of them. I always like a mascara that gives an impact and from the description beneath the stand it sounded like this was one I should try.
This Telescopic mascara costs £10.99 and mine was from Boots, although they would also sell them in department stores and other places that sell make up. The tube it is in is a shiny silver colour and is thicker at the bottom than it is at the top. The one I bought was black but there are also other versions of black like carbon black and waterproof black. It is easy to screw off the lid with the wand inside the lid.
The actual bristles of the mascara wand are different to mascaras I've had before. They are much much shorter and almost look like they wouldn't do anything but that is where I was wrong! They give a really intense colour to your lashes, give them a thick coating and suddenly look a lot longer than they were. It is almost too much for me but I love it. If it was any thicker though I wouldn't like it. Luckily it doesn't give a clumpy look to your lashes like some can do.
This also has staying power which is great and doesn't flake off down your cheeks like some can do by the afternoon time. I'd even go so far as to say it looks just as good at the end of the day than it did first thing. Shame I can't say that for the rest of my face!
All in all a great mascara from L'Oreal, I would definitely recommend it.
Anyone who reads my reviews will know that I am a bit of a mascara freak. I love the stuff. Can't get enough of it. When my latest batch of Lancôme ran out it was before pay-day and funds were low, so spending £20 on a mascara was not an option. So off I trundled to Superdrug to see what they had in store for me.
I found this Telescopic Mascara by L'Oreal. I have never been a massive fan of L'Oreal, not for any reason, just never used their products or found them to be particularly appealing. However, this was different. This claimed to be a mascara brush in the form of a 4 sided comb - much like my adored Maestro Mascara by Armani. So I thought, "let's give is a go, if it's rubbish I've lost £6.99 and not £20".
I purchased this in Carbon black, not sure how that is different from black, but to L'Oreal it must be.
The packaging is ok. The plastic case for the mascara is rather cheap feeling and certainly doesn't have the wow factor of the designer brands, but you're not paying the same price, and quite frankly sometimes it doesn't matter what the packaging looks like as long as it does the job.
The consistency of the mascara is thick but not gloopy. It doesn't have that fibrous consistency of so many cheaper mascaras like Maybelline. The mascara coats the prongs of the comb on all four sides enabling you to rotate the wand in your hand so you don't have to keep dunking the brush.
When applying this at first I managed to get a lot of mascara on my eyelids, but once you get the knack of the comb it gets less and less problematic - but it's nothing a cotton bud can't sort out.
The brush separates each lash nicely, creating a defined look. I wouldn't say the lashes are hugely lengthened to any great degree nor are they thickened, but they definitely have a certain dolly look to them which is very pretty. More something that one would use for day wear rather than a night out.
In terms of staying power, this is a good mascara, it stays on all day and doesn't smudge, not do you find strange little clumps on your face at various intervals. The lashes stay in the separated look very well. This mascara has even survived the pouring rain when I forgot my umbrella and got soaked - with thankfully, no panda eyes!
For removal, I find this comes off easily with a face wipe, and does not irritate my eyes at all during the day or with removal.
At £6.99 I would say Telescopic Mascara - you're worth it.
As I am forever on the look out for good new make up goodies I rarely stick to the same brand. So when it came time to buy a new mascara I was excited to try something new.
I'm not really sure what it was that made this one out at the time, but I decided to go with L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara. I picked out Carbon Black, as I am very dark haired and find a lot of mascaras to end up more charcoal than black....also because I've lost count of the amount of time I haven't looked at the colour of a mascara and ended up with brown! So the fact that this one comes in a black tube and is called Carbon Black saves on those types of mishaps!
It can be purchased in any store with a L'Oreal counter and costs in the region of £8-10, it depends where you buy it and if there is an offer on. I bought mines from Boots purely to save up those points!
The packaging is fairly nice, I like the black tube with the gold colouring and funnily enough the tube is shaped like a telescope!
There is one of those peel back sticky labels on the top which has the ingredients and the relevant information for the L'Oreal website and a Paris address. This I can only guess would be very useful for anyone allergic to the ingredients in make-up or should something ever be that bad you would feel the need to complain. In a way it makes me feel confident in the product as they are obviously happy enough to give out their details for customer to write or email them, why would you do that if you had a bad product? This may sound like an odd thing to notice but after working in some retail shops where you weren't allowed to give out the head office details because there would be to many complaints, it stands out.
*Using The Mascara*
I don' need to give lessons on how to put on mascara but feel how it goes on is important.
This mascara is not too thick but not runny, it gives a nice coating on the brush. The brush itself is not a bristle brush, it is a plastic brush with short pointed bristles spaces roughly 1mm apart. This brush does a really good job of separating the lashes and as the mascara is not to think it doesn't clump, except sometime for one or two tiny little lumps but this is only happened the longer I have had the mascara so it could be drying out a little. I find it helps to start at the very base of your lashes and slowly wriggle the brush side to side as you sweep it along your lashes. This helps to avoid lashes sticking together and helps to give a good coating on your lashes.
I found this brush a little tricker to use on my bottom lashes as it's hard to get the outer corer without smudging mascara on your face.
*How Does it Look*
Overall I wouldn't say it makes my eyelashes look telescopic, however they do look very nice and fluttery! It has nicely separated and fanned out my lashes and added a few millimetres to the length. It has also caught the little lashes at the corners of my eyes-mainly due to my careful application though and not the brush. I would say this is a really nice look for day time but it doesn't pack as much punch as it would like for night time, as you want to knock someone out with your beautiful eyes of course. But if you like subtlety then this would be a great mascara. I also think it would work well to use when you plan on wearing false lashes as it is not too heavy.
The colour is very black which I like as it makes them stand out against my pale skin.
I have found this mascara tends to dry out badly if you put too much on, and even still if you put on a little. I find after a few hours of wearing it I get black speckles on my face with if accidentally rubbed leave black smudges all over my cheeks and under my eyes. Not a hot look! Especially when everyone is too polite to tell you! So do regular quick make-up checks when you wear this! I have to say in defence of this product it is not the worst for this problem.
*Getting it Off*
With it being Carbon Black, I don't think I ever really expect this to be easily removed. Expect big panda eyes and always give it an extra once over with your face cloth, make up remover wipe etc...just to be safe. As I still manage to get the little smudges under my eyes, even when I think I have gotten it all!
I will keep this on my 'Maybe' list for buying it again but I have a few other mascara I would like to try out first before I make this my regular purchase.
After yet another clearout of all my make-up Ive managed to write a massive list of all the products I have yet to review so I thought Id try and get a few of them done today - particularly the Loreal ones before they go back down a tier hehe. So I thought Id start with this 'L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara' which I bought a few months back when I found it on sale in Boots. Ive tried a lot of mascaras over the years so I like to think I know what makes a good one and what makes a terrible one and after trying a few of L'Oreal's other mascara offerings I have to say I was not holding out a lot of hope for this one. Surprisinly though this one is actually a great mascara one that Im glad I found because Ill be using it very regularly from now on.
Stockists: Amazon, Boots & Superdrug.
Shades: Black, Carbon Black, Brown, Waterproof Black & Clean Definition. *I personally went for the standard 'Black' option as I was buying this with for everyday wear.*
Other Info: This mascara promises to give you 60% longer lashes with a built in comb to ensure all your lashes are separated perfectly.
I actually have a different tube to the one shown in the image with this review - I think I might own the slightly newer version so Ill be describing that one. The packaging for this one is pretty cute as it is gold/silver metallic in colour and in the shape of a telescope - I thought that was a nice touch its definitely a better design than most mascara tubes. The name of the product and brand is clearly stated on the front and on the back is some information about the product - shelf life, shade, recycling information etc but no ingredients so if your looking for those your better off checking the Boots website especially if you have certain allergies. The wand handle is long enough to get a good grip on when it comes to application so packaging wise Im impressed.
The actual wand I would describe as normal which is just fine by me - I cant stand mascaras that claim to be loads better just because the brush is an odd shape. The brush is quite long and almost totally straight - it is slightly angled and its rubbery and seems to be very flexible. When you pull the wand out a good amount of mascara is picked up on the brush and the mascara itself I would say is just the right consistency - not too thick but not too runny its as perfect as it can get in my opinion. No terrible odour and as near to perfect consistency as L'Oreal could hope to get so another winning point.
Applying this is very easy - the brush is a normal shape so it doesnt go everywhere and it fits my lashes from root to tip perfectly - I get just the right amount on the brush each time so I dont have to keep getting more and more on the wand. With just one coat this definitely makes my lashes look MUCH longer and surprisingly adds quite a bit of volume as well, 2 coats is more than enough for me because it makes my lashes so much longer and appear much thicker so its a winner for me. One coat is enough for the more natural daytime look and two coats is perfect for nightime so you dont need to use loads and loads to create a great look.
This isnt clumpy and doesnt flake off easily either - it actually looks like that could be your natural lashes just longer and thicker - none of that spider leg look! A really brilliant mascara that I dont hesitate to recommend - after all this time could I have found my No1 mascara? I hope so!!
Thanks For Reading.

L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara
Mascara is something that I use on a regular basis, I think even with the minimal application of makeup a quick touch of mascara can really make a difference and makes me look more awake and like I have made a slight effort with my appearance. There are a few mascaras that I buy time and time again but there isn't one brand that I am particularly loyal to, I like to try different options in the search for something better. I first tried this L'Oreal Telescopic mascara when it was first released, since then I have picked it up again whenever it has been on special offer.
L'Oreal describes this as a magnifying and lengthening mascara that could deliver up to 60% longer lashes. So the important question - does this work, does this give you telescopic longer eye lashes? Well, no. However, most mascara that I have tried almost always promises more results than they can actually deliver. However, this does cover my lashes well and although it doesn't really give me any length it does make them look a little thicker and of course with a nice black colour added into the mix they do look more noticeable and defined. Overall, even without the noticeable lengthening I still like the look that this mascara gives me.
I very rarely ever buy anything other than a black mascara and some can be darker and more of a true black than others. This Telescopic mascara does come in a nice shade of black, something that I am quite picky about as I don't particularly like any blacks that have a browny tint to them.
The brush unlike some mascara brushes is actually really easy to use. It is thin enough that you can completely coat all your lashes even the harder to reach inner eye ones. I find that with this brush I need to coat my lashes only once for a more daytime look and maybe twice or three times for a much fuller more noticeable night time look.
Unfortunately, I can have quite watery eyes, especially if I am tired or just feeling a bit under the weather. Although I bought the non water proof mascara as I prefer the look, this hasn't been overly affected by a little bit of moisture. Lastly and importantly this mascara stays where you put it, I don't worry about going to look in the mirror only to find that my mascara has shifted onto my brow area with just blinking, as can happen with some cheaper brands.
This never lasts me all that long but then I do go through mascara quite quickly which is what I get for layering it up on an almost daily basis. I did get a good two months use out of this before I needed to replace it, which for me is a pretty standard length of time for a mascara to last. If like me you have sensitive eyes it is better not to keep a mascara for longer than a few months anyway.
Typically, as far as I remember this mascara is usually priced around about the £10 mark. In my opinion, for your money you get a nice mascara. It gets a four of five star rating from me.
I'm in my thirties, so I have had plenty of time to try all sorts of mascara - none of lived up to all mu expectations, apart from this one - the L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara.
Whenever I sneeze or yawn my eyes water so needless to say, I use the waterproof version of the mascara. Downside is that it only comes in black.
The application's easy, and the mascara's got a great consistency. I never get any clumps or eyelashes sticking together. The eyelashes are easily covered and it does give the effect of longer lashes. The ads are not lying.
I have tried volume effect mascara before but none of them give me the natural look I'm after. I have had people comment on how long my lashes are and that I was lucky to get away without having to apply mascara - that's how natural the look is! As with all mascara applicator brushes you need to be careful that there isn't a lot of mascara on the very tip of it as to avoid giving you black dots on either side of your eye.
I use mascara every day, apart from the odd weekend day, and I find myself buying new mascara every 3-4 months. This isn't that great, particularly from a financial point of view, but I have been told that you should change the mascara every 3 to 4 months anyway, for hygiene reasons as well as of the risk of the mascara's consistency changing.
A year ago I used to find this mascara in most stores, now I have to go on a bit of a hunt, it looks like the waterproof mascara's being phased out and replaced with newer products.
There are less expensive and far more expensive mascaras on the market, I find that you can't go wrong with L'Oreal's Telescopic Mascara, as it's great value for money, which gives me the desired effect - naturally looking long lashes without the risk of panda eyes with every yawn.
I have tried ALOT of mascaras over the years, some of them terrible and some of them good b ut this 'L'oreal Telescopic Mascara' has got to be one of the best i have tried and i have continued to purchase it since i first tried it around a year ago now. Heres why its so much better than your average mascara....
Stockists: All the usual high street chemists Boots, Superdrug Lloyds etc.
Price: £9.99 ( which i think is reasonable considering the quality of the product).
Available Colours: Black, Brown, Carbon Black (Pictured), Water Proof Black.
The first time i bought this mascara i just bought the regular black mascara which comes in a gold tube shaped like a telecope (which i thought was a really great idea, but then again i am easily amused LOL) with black lettering on the outside. Whenever i purcahse this mascara now i tend to purchase 'Carbon Black' just because it creates a more intense colour. This comes in the same shaped bottle except it is black with gold lettering. (The brown mascara is in the same gold bottle as the regular black mascara and the waterproof one comes in a light metallic blue one).
~What It Claims To Do~
The mascara is supposed to create 'Telescopic lashes'. The high precision, flexible brush is meant to separate your lashes making them look up to 60% longer with virtually no clumping. L'Oreal also claims that it is easy to use and you can achieve this look quickly in just one application.
~What I Thought~
For once this is a mascara that lives up to its hype and does what it promises to do!! The wand was easy to use and coated pretty much all my lashes after just one use (i did however go over them a few times because i love really dark dramatic lashes, but for every day wear one coat would probably have been sufficient.) Theres no denying that this mascara definitley separated my lashes making them look longer and defined without any clumps, i even recieved a couple of compliments the first time i wore it :D !!
As i mentioned earlier the first time i purchased this mascara i bought it in regular black (not realising they sold any others) and whilst i loved the mascara i was disappointed that the colour wasn't very dark or intense. But now i have discovered it in 'Carbon Black' the one down side to this mascara has been solved. So if like me you love dark, dramatic lashes i would reccomend the 'Carbon Black'.
x Thanks For Reading x
I really really like this mascara. It comes with quite an unusual brush... instead of the normal brush type style, it looks more like a comb. Personally i think this actually works to your advantage because it's able to separate lashes easier and get into all of the little gaps.
It coats eyelashes, effectively causing them to appear longer, thicker and darker. It also comes in different shades but the most common is black. You need to be careful when choosing your mascara for purchase since some of the cheaper brands tend to look clumpy.
I personally think this gives the illusion of fake eyelashes, it makes your lashes THAT long! The tube it comes in is pretty cool as well- because of the name 'telescopic' it's been shaped to resemble a gold telescope. So i think that's a pretty big selling point as well. Attractive packaging is always nice.
Oh, and in interviews Cheryl Cole has said that she uses this, and we all know how gorgeous her eyes look... so if it's good enough for Cheryl, it's good enough for me!
I am currently using my second tube of telescopic black mascara this isn't only down to it being a good mascara but it always seems to be on offer in Boots (which is always a good thing.) especially if you have a boots card.
I use this mascara everyday and find it very easy to apply with its comb head brush and find that applying a single stroke works great for a day look and a couple of strokes along with black eyeliner gives a great slick 'going out look'.
I find this mascara is great for lengthining which is one of the main reaons I bought it as I have fair, short lashes, but doesn't really give a great curl. To overcome this I just use lash curlers which really completes the look.
Another good thing is that it lasts all day and doesn't flake unlike some, plus at the end of the day it is easily removable with make-up wipes.
I got this mascara as a gift in a set from a friend for my birthday although I have only recently started using it. In the set there was a black kohl eyeliner and two of these telescopic mascarsas. This is wicked as it meant I could share with my sister which she really liked.
My telescopic mascara comes in a gold tube with a telescope kind of shape- tying in with the name. I say telescopic because it got thinner towards the lid end, and thicker to the other end. It has a little bit of writing just stating the name and brand and some stuff in French about what it does, which is then in English on the other side saying "magnifies at the base of the lashes + lengthens to the extreme precision multi comb".
I have used other mascaras in the past and most of them all promise the same thing without delivering but I have to day with this one I have been quite pleasantly surprised. It is a good strong black colour and although the "precision comb" doesn't look like anything much, it does actually comb through lashes well and makes the application pretty easy. My only gripe with this is that the mascara itself is verrrry liquidy. This means that it gets all over my face and eyelids while I'm applying and I literally have to wait quite a while for it to dry. It is also not waterproof at all. I know it doesn't claim to be but more than once now I have been caught out when I cried or something got into my eye and I was instantly turned into a black faced monster. Not a good thing.
It is a good product and it does seem to make my lashes look fuller and longer although I think that its wateryness does make me have a tendency to put too much on, leaving my eyelashes to clump together a bit which I have to watch out for.
I think it retails as most mascaras do for about £7 and it is probably worth that. When I got it it was in a gift box and had Penelope Cruz on the front but I think you can just get it from places like boots as a loose product.
I bought this on a whim having seen a special offer in Boots and have not been disappointed. Having used mascara from Chanel, Lancome, Estee Lauder and Cinique I can honestly say that this was the best of them, and at around half the price as well!
This mascara has a plastic brush which I was dubious about at first but have found it gives as good, if not better, coverage than the traditional bristled wand, and is just as easy to use. It is easy to apply one stroke for a daytime look or two-three (in one go, not waiting for one to dry) to get slightly more dramatic coverage.
The effect from this mascara is dramatic without being too clogged and holds lashes in place with a slight curl all day. It is easy to remove with a normal make-up remover (either liquid or pads) and, most importantly, does not smudge even in hot weather - I wouldn't recommend jumping in the swimming pool with it on but it certainly stays put, even after watching a sad film (and I am particularly soppy!) The mascara itself lasts a long time with mine not drying out (I only wear it occassionally) for around 10 months (although it is recommended that all mascaras are replaced after 6.)
All in all, a great buy!
This is by far the best mascara I have ever EVER used, and I have used a lot of mascaras! I used to try a new one every time my old one ran out but I have stuck with L'Oreal Telescopic for quite a few years now. Every now and again I fall for the advertising of a new product but I'm always disappointed and end up going back to good old Telescopic! It doesn't advertise itself as 'false lash' effect but I've found that is exactly what you can achieve if you put the effort in when applying it. I generally put one coat on for a day-time look but when I'm going out I put a bit of time into it, putting several coats on and making sure I get each lash and the results are amazing. Before using this product I'd always been put off by combs but I can honestly say I have never come across a brush that's anywhere near as good. It doesn't clump, it's easy to use and the end result is fantastic.
This review follows on from a gift pack I received from my boyfriend as he went through duty free. I received two Loreal mascaras, one was Telescopic Clean Definition, and the other was this one. They were billed on the pack as one for night and one for day.
If you have read the other review, you will know that I didn't much rate the day mascara. I like my eyes to be dark and dramatic as I feel that is the point of mascara. Natural is great, but as my eyes are big and my skin is olive, thick dark lashes are a definite must for me otherwise there is no point! I was really hoping that this mascara would win me over and stop me returning to Max Factor or Lancôme!
Seduced by the actual exterior of this mascara as it looks very similar to my max factor masterpiece mascaras! Black, sleek with gold lettering, it almost lulled me into a false sense of security until I unscrewed the wand and found it to be just as flimsy and the bristles just as small as the previous Loreal mascara.
Application and results - "Night"...
Despite my previous disappointments, this one actually gave me a much better result, and more up to standard to what I am used to! As this promised more dramatic results, I found that this mascara came out darker and thicker than the last mascara, even though I couldn't really see any major differences in the wands. I applied several coats, and although I'd still say that Max Factor and Lancome are better, this was a pretty close second. It still needed a lot more combing through than usual, but it gave me the length that I desired.
A few plus points...
Unlike MaxFactor and Lancome, I found that this mascara did "stay put" longer. I'd put it on in the morning and it hadn't flaked or disappeared throughout the day (but that may be because I felt that I didn't really have much on in the first place). Aside from the mascaras being ok, the kohl liner is pretty amazing, it gave a good strong colour but like most kohls, regular reapplication is needed!
In a flash of a stroke...up to 60% longer looking lashes and intensity lash by lash
Once again, the exaggeration needed to be put into the technology of the mascara rather than the over inflated tag line, but it was at least closer to the truth than the Clean Definition. I'd say even if you were going for a completely natural look, this can be achieved with stunning results with this mascara. For the evening, it just needs a few extra coats. For me, it wasn't quite special enough, but I'd certainly consider it again and every time I use it, it does grow on me. It gets a 7/10 from me because for me, Max Factor is still worth it!!
L'Oreal telescopic mascara
I like to have different mascaras and decided on this one during a recent foray at the supermarket
The mascara comes with the promise that lashes will be dramatically longer with twice the intensity, mainly because it apparently has a patented flexible precision brush (whatever that is!)so it seems to be just the kind of thing i am going to Like.
It also promises to be opthalmologist and allergy tested and suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers, as well as being fragrance free. The mascara will also remove easily with soap and water which gives me the impression that it can't be waterproof.
How it Works...
The aforementioned patented Flexible Precision Brush lengthens lashes up to 60% and exclusive Carbon Black pigments provide two times the intensity! I am often bemused by how many of these make up products have such exclusive and patented ingredients.
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...
The mascara comes is a black mascara tube, much the same as most other mascaras, and with gold coloured edging and lettering, with a screw on/off lid. It is quite stylish in that it isn't straight, but is slimmer at the top of the lid and tapers out towards the bottom of the tube.
When I unscrew the lid and bring out the wand, i see that the brush is a bit different to those I usually use. The mascara brush, instead of being the "normal" brush, is a series of kind of prongs/spikes in 4 layers around the wand. This makes them sound dangerous, but they are quite soft and short so they won't damage you, thankfully.
When i apply it to my eyelashes, it is intensely black and goes on easily. Because of the type of brush it is, I find that it very easily separates my eye lashes, and doesn't leave them clogged together at all.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The mascara costs around the £8 mark and is available from chemists and supermarkets as well as from various online sites but beware of postage costs.
I like this mascara, which I initially thought I would because I tend to like the L'Oreal products. It has a nice long wand and the mascara is very black which makes my eye lashes very black. It separates my eye lashes which I like and I am thankfully not left all clogged up and trying desperately to separate them. The only thing I would advise is to try to keep your eyelashes still for a while after application. The mascara is quite wet and if you do a lot of fluttering of the eyelashes when it's first applied, it will end up on the eye sockets... a minute of low level movement does the trick. The fact that it is quite wet seems to make it not waterproof but the plus point is that it really does remove easily- no scrubbing required.
This has lasted me for ages and there still seems to be plenty of the stuff left. If you like a lash separating very black mascara, then i would recommend this particularly if you don't mind it not being waterproof.
Thanks for reading.
