L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara
Advantages: Reasonable, easy to apply, does what it says it will
I have very little brand loyalty when it comes to make up as I find that different brands are better for different products. So my make up drawer is full of everything from Collection 2000 to Clinique! I was yet to find a mascara that I really got on with, and that made my lashes look fuller and longer.
I was wandering around Boots one day when I saw a promotion for the (then new) L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes. It was reduced from it's usual price of around £10.99 to £6.99, which I didn't think was bad for a mascara. After reading through everything that it claimed to do, I thought 'why not?' and decided that I would give it a go.
So, here is what it claims:
'Want a mascara that gives lashings of volume without the clumps? Don't just volumize, millionize your lashes.'
I got it home and couldn't wait to give it a try! The product looks attractive in it's packaging and does look fairly expensive. The mascara is in a gold tube, with a single black line going from top to bottom where 'Volume Million Lashes' is written. On the reverse of the tube there is a diagram showing the brush head and it also says 'New Brush & Anti Clump Wiper'.
Upon reading into this, the mascara features a Millionizer Brush which claims to be 'a multitude of bristles separate lashes for a fanned-out effect'. It also offers an Excess Wiper, an 'in-built wiper system removes excess mascara, wiping brush free of clumps. The pop when you pull the brush out proves the wiper is working!'
I was now intruiged to see whether or not it lived up to all of these bold claims. I undid the simple screw top and pulled. There was indeed a little 'pop' as per the claim above, so I assumed that the 'excess wiper' was working! I kept pulling until I revealed the brush, which looked fairly standard compared to some of the bizarre shaped brushed that you can get now! It was completely straight, but there were a lot of bristles at different widths apart, which I could only assume was the 'millionizer brush'.
I applied the mascara to my lashes and was pleased to see that it was easy to apply. I guess the anti-clump wiper works as I have never had an excess of product on the brush - something that I had never really paid attention to before, but actually, it's really handy not to have to keep wiping the brush back onto the tube. The product went on evenly and smoothly and definitely separated my lashes well. I occasionally have to go over them a couple of times, just to make sure they are all separated properly, but for the most part it's all good. I sometimes use 2 or 3 coats of the mascara (mainly if I'm going out), and love the effect of this. It makes my eyes look really dramatic and lasts for the night as well!
I used to just use this mascara for nights out or special occasions, but it has fast become my favourite and most reliable product, so I now use it every day. The mascara does last well for a whole day, and I never feel the need to reapply. It's not waterproof, but doesn't come off as easily as some non-waterproof mascaras - saying that, I wouldn't go swimming with it on! This particular mascara has lasted me around 6 months, and I am now running out. Next time I'm in Boots I will definitely purchased L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes again, which is saying a lot coming from me as I've never liked a mascara so much that I've repurchased it before! I feel pleased that I have come to the end of my quest to find a mascara that I love, and relieved that I no longer have to try any bad ones!!!
Overall, I would recommend this product to everyone. It's not badly priced at £10.99, but you can get it in Boots or Superdrug where they regularly have 3 for 2 or other offers on. It is reliable, long lasting and does what it says it will - what more could you ask for from a mascara?
Summary: A great product that's well worth a try!
