Advantages: Cheap, nice colours
Disadvantages: Chip far to easy
I love nail varnish and have a ever growing collection. Although I do have some favourite brands but wouldn't say I was particulary loyal to any one company and I am always willing to try varnishes that I have not tried before. A few months back I was shopping in a little make up shop not far from where I live and noticed some nail varnishes in some lovely bright colours, I had not heard of " La Femme Beauty" before but as they were priced at only 90p each I decided to try a couple.
I purchased two colours in pink and green. The varnish comes in a standard 15ml nail polish bottle which is clear thus the varnish colour is clearly visable inside. On the front is a quick sketch style picture of a flower with "La Femme Beauty" written in joined up writing above it. On the back is a fairly long list of ingredients. The lid is black and once unscrewed reveals the attached applicator brush.
Application is fairly obvious, you simply use the brush to apply the varnish to the nail.
"La Femme Beauty" nail varnish smells very strong, and has a distinct unpleasant acetone smell to it. The product goes on quite well but I have found I have to apply at least 2-3 coats to sufficiently cover the nail. It takes a few minutes to dry. Once applied the colours are nice and match the colour inside the bottle, they also have a luminous quality and a nice bright shiny gloss finish to them. However, it does not take long before the varnish begins to chip, infact I have experienced this happening within a few hours of application, even with a top coat having been used. The varnish is very easy to remove by using nail varnish remover and a cotton wool ball, I have found only a couple of wipes is enough to fully remove the product. I have had no problems with the varnish staining my nails, but I do always apply a base coat.
The fact that this varnish chips incredibly easily means that these varnishes have sat pretty much unused in my nail varnish box since I bought them. I have applied these to my daughters nails a few times when she has specifically chosen them from the box. On sorting out my nail varnishes in preparation for writing some reviews I discovered that the pink varnish has become quite thick inside the bottle and has therefore been disposed of. I would also note that the writing on both of the bottles has rubbed off and they look rather ugly and tatty.
I guess its true that you get what you pay for and there is a reason why products are so cheaply priced. Since I bought these varnishes for only 90p each I am not overly disappointed by them, but find they chip far to easily and therefore they are not a varnish that I am able to recommend.
Summary: Not one I can recommend
