Advantages: great colours, easy to apply, only needs one coat
Disadvantages: bottle could be more interesting design, doesn't last particularly long
I don't often wear nail varnish (I love it but hardly ever have the patience to wait for it to dry!), but I have built up quite a collection of the stuff for the occasions when I do. I have nice strong nails that grow nice and long, so I find I never need false nails, I usually get asked if I'm wearing them when I have a nice nail polish on! The latest nail varnish in my collection is this La Femme Nail Polish which I bought because I loved the colour (it's a beautiful red called fiery planets).
The bottle of varnish comes with no extra packaging around it and is pretty standard as far as nail polish packaging goes. The bottle is clear so that you can see the colour of the product inside and the lid is a silver colour. The bottle doesn't look expensive (which it isn't anyway!) and doesn't really stand out from the crowd.
I bought my nail polish from a make up counter at my local indoor market for £1. I don't recal seeing this nail polish on sale anywhere else but a quick look on google tells me that it's quite easy to find in online shops for around £1.25.
I have found 20 different colours of this nail polish available, which means you should find a colour to suit you. Some of the colours are more standard nail polish colours like pink and red, but some are glittery and others are neon.
La Femme also seem to do a nail polish similar to the Barry M crackle effect, which looks like it might be worth a try!
When applying the nail polish I found that it went on fairly evenly, it was neither too stick or too runny. I only needed one coat to get a good coverage, which is great as I hate waiting for coats to dry just to apply more!
The brush is just a standard nail polish brush attached to the inside of the bottle's lid. It was soft, flexible and not too thick which made it easy to apply the polish to my nails.
The colour I chose (fiery planets) is an orangey red colour. I would say it definitely looks fun rather than sophisticated, which is what I wanted. Looking at the other colours I think you could find something a little more grown up and sophisticated if that is what you were after but many of the shades are bright fun colours.
There is a slight bit of shimmer to the polish that makes the colour nice and shiny when on.
The nail polish was mostly dry within one minute and fully dry within three. I think this is about the same as other nail polishes I have.
This nail polish lasts at least 24 hours without chipping, which you might think isn't so great but when you consider that this was lasting through me doing dishes, bathing kids and getting housework done then I think it's not bad for a cheap nail polish.
I didn't have any trouble removing this nail polish with a proper nail polish remover lotion and cotton wool and it did not leave stains on my nails (I'm far too lazy to do an undercoat most of the time!)
I love the colour of the polish I bought and I'm very tempted to try some others as they look so lovely and bright and are a great price. Although this isn't the most wonderful nail polish ever, it's not bad (especially when it costs just £1 or a little over). I am happy with my purchase and I would recommend this product to others
Summary: A decent nail polish for the price.
