“ Brand: Lacura / Powders / Type: Foundation / Subcategory: Powder / Blush „
I bought this compact powder from aldi along with the foundation, mascara, etc. At around £2.50 for each item i believe the lacura range to be one of the cheapest around. The powder stocks only have a limited range of colours, yet these colours tend to suit most colours and also most skin types. The main things i notifced about the powder were firstly the applicator, the powder itself is great but the applicator is useless if you use the provided sponge/pad it holds to much powder, giving an uneven colour and 'patchy' effect. For people who have already invested in a good set off brushes this wont be such an issue, even if you had to go out and buy a good brush the amount you save from the powders price this saving would if not from one buy but from a couple should certainly cover any costs for brushes. When applied with a brush however this powder is great it goes on smoothly and feels silky and soft to touch. The second thing i noticed was that the powder didnt last 'hours and hours' it needed reapplying after two or three hours which could become tedious. This leads me on to my third point. The powders biggest weak point is durability one compact if reapplied say two or three times a day may only last for 2 or 3 weels, which is a lot less than other compacts. Also carrying the compact in my bag i opened to find it all crumpled and broken up which can be very inconvenient leaving a beige film over all my things. Overall i would say this powder is basically what you would expect for the price. The other products in the lacura range really are great however i think this made the powder fall short of my 'expectations', this compact is okay but nothing spectacular. In this case i would definatley recommend in investing in a decent powder, even if it will cost a heck of a lot more.
Being blessed with olive skin I can get away without wearing much makeup. Its a good job as it can proove a costly past time and with my part time wage being stretched to the limits with a toddler not long started school and a house move imminent, Id feel guilty spending much money on myself at the moment. After a recent outbreak of coldsores left me with a scar above my top lip I'd been meaning to pick up a compact powder to dab it with to make it less noticeable at work. As mentioned, Ive forgotten how to treat myself lately and only remembered that this was on my shopping list on a recent trip to Aldi. My local Aldi had this in 3 different shades to best match your skin colouring. At £1.89, albeit I dont buy much make up, I knew that it was a bargain price. The compact shell is sturdy pewter coloured plastic, its actually rather nice looking and Im not embarrased to be seen with it. THe case opens easily with the compact powder one side and a mirror on the other. It comes with one pad which seems quite 'disposable' and I suspect that the compact will far outlive this. THe product weighs 10g and Lacura claims to give your skin a natural, smooth appearance. AS mentioned previously Im not a make up fanatic, I cant compare it to the leading brands but I can tell you that it does the job for me. One dab and my scar is far less noticeable. If I put it on a larger area it makes my skin feel extremely soft and look quite flawless. Im extremly happy with this for the price and it does the job that I intended it to do. Ill be keeping one in my handbag from now on.
A lot of the makeup I buy is from the Lacura range, and the compact is one of essentials. Costing at around £2.50, it is one of the cheapest compacts on the market, and in my opinion, is worth it's weight. The packaging is hardwearing and quite small, fitting nicely in the palm of your hand and is quite thin, so doesn't take to much room in your makeup bag. It's design is simple and attractive, with a slightly reflective surface. Inside, there is a handy mirror set into the lid, and a soft sponge on top of the powder itself. There isn't a barrier between them, so the mirror can get covered in powder, but it is easy to wipe off and doesn't leave smears. The powder itself is light and easy to apply, though it is important to mention, it's best over a liquid foundation. If applied straight to the face, it can leave your skin feeling a little dry and tight. However, depending which tone you get from the wide range, it does blend well to the particular skin tone, combats shine and doesn't need to be continually reapplied.
