after being voted as no. 1 bestselling mascara, the Lancome Hypnose collection has had amazing reviews. I have been a devoted fan to the Lancome Hypnose mascara so tried out the Drama version. I wasn't disappointed! This mascara not only lengthens the lashes but also creates volume for a dramatic effect. Many people have thought that I have been wearing false lashes when wearing this mascara. The brush is curved making it easier to apply, covering all your lashes quickly so you save time. You can put on a second coat for evening dinners/ night outs, and you won't even need to put on that much make up!
I would definitely recommend this mascara to try. The only negative thing I would say is that it is expensive. But it is worth it for showstopping lashes that everyone will be commenting on! At christmas time, Lancome offer gift sets which include other free items, such as an eye kohl pencil and eye make up remover, so you do tend to get your money's worth.
I get bored of using the same cosmetics all the time so I like to change certain things such as mascaras, lipsticks and eye shadows, I had used one of Lancomes mascaras before so I thought that I'd try another one. My original plan was to buy the doll eyes mascara but the lady recommended Drama for what I wanted to achieve. Lancome mascaras and not well known for being cheap, per mascara it is £23 which I find excessive but I wanted to try it, as I bought it there was an offer on in House of Fraser which was gift set of two mascaras and an eye liner for £23. I still think that this is an insane amount of money and I only bought it because I got two and an eye liner.
I have this in shade 01 which is excessive black, the drama mascara has a curved wand, this is to ensure full eyelash contact with every stroke that is made, this is supposed to make lashes look high volume and to look thicker, once I started using this, a lot of cheaper mascaras would bring out lots of product on the wand but this didn't bring out any excess product which was nice, this meant that I wouldn't waste any by having to wipe it off so my eye lashes don't clump up.
My eye lashes are fine anyway but it's nice to coat them after putting other cosmetics on so it looks right and complete. When I first used this it went on fine but it just seemed less than average. It took me a few coats to get my full lashes covered despite the wand being curved for that purpose it took a while to cover them. Once I was finally done they were black but there are much cheaper mascaras that stand out more with their blackness. Also my eyelashes were a little flat not matter how much I tried to lift them or curly them it just didn't work with this product on.
Despite this the mascara not being impressive, it was lightweight to wear, it would last most of the day and by the time it came to wipe my make up off it came off quite easily, I have some Lancome eye make up remover and when using this the mascara came straight off without having to rub it. This lasted a long time, it's lasted me over a month of applying it once or twice a day, sometimes more if I'm going out and have to re do my make up. On a whole this mascara for me was no worth paying the price I did even though I got some freebies when I could of bought a better mascara for £5.99
I like to wear make up and I like my lashes to stand out and frame my eyes as nicely as possible. When I go out on a night out, I like to have extra big lashes which usually leads me to wear false lashes but this can become expensive. Hypnose Drama mascara by Lancome seemed to the one to make me throw my falsies in the bin.
What does the product do?
The product promises to make your lashes instantly full bodied and full of volume. It promises to coat each and every lash, even the shortest one, making each one look fuller and thicker from root to tip. It also helps to curve the lashes to give you a wide eyed look. And it promises to do this in just one stroke.
The mascara comes in a few different colours including blue, black, brown and grey. I chose black as that's the colour of my natural lashes and think it suits me best.
Appearance and Price
The product comes contained within a curvy black tube which looks both classy and expensive. It has the name of the product written on the side but it plain other than this. When you unscrew the lid, you can see the wand inside. The brush at the end is also curved and very full of bristles, although in real life it's not quite as thick and bushy as the advert leads you to believe. The mascara is quite pricey and it will cost you around £22 for each one that you buy. You can buy it from department stores such as Boots and Debenhams as well as from a range of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product is easy to unscrew and the brush easily comes out of the tube with a pop. You need to open your eyes extra wide to get to the root of the lashes because of the thickness of the brush. The curved brush does manage to catch most of my lashes and leaves them looking separate which is a good thing because I hate clumpy looking lashes. The brush is quite long too so it does manage to catch all the lashes although I need to use the tip of the brush to catch the corner ones.
After one stroke, my lashes do look very different, especially when using a zig zag motion all of the way to the tip. I do tend to brush the wand over my lashes a few times instead of just one but one does make a difference. The colour is very dark and makes my lashes stand out beautiful. It does make my lashes look thicker by coating them with the formula and by separating the lashes it makes the lashes look fuller. It also makes my lashes look much longer too which I really like as it's hard to find a mascara which adds both length and volume.
It doesn't really add any curl to my lashes so I ensure that I use my own eye lash curler before using the mascara. The formula is gentle on my eyes and doesn't irritate my eyes even when I am wearing my contact lenses. As the results are quite dramatic, I tend to use this one on the weekends or evening as it doesn't really create the natural look which I prefer to go for in the day. The mascara is long lasting and stays put on my lashes all day without any flaking or smudging. It is easily removed at the end of the day using my usual eye make up remover.
All in all, this is one of those rare mascaras which manages to lengthen and add volume to the mashes. It separates them and prevents them from clumping leaving you with a fuller set of lashes and a wide eyed effect. It makes my lashes nice and dark, doesn't flake away or smudge and is still in place at the end of the day. I have knocked one star off for the price but it is a quality product so I would pay it again once this one runs out.
Being a bit of a beauty product addict, I always like to try out new things and vary the brands that I use. One of my most exciting discoveries has been finding online companies that provide beauty boxes. The idea is that you will be sent a box every month, and this will usually contain a selection of various make-up, skin care, fragrance products etc for you to try out, so I have been trying a few from different suppliers. I received a sample size tube of this Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara in a previous delivery from Glossy Box. You can find further information at www.glossybox.com. It costs £22.00 for the full size version, with some colour variants available at a slightly cheaper £20.50.
Product description: "Instant full body lash volume - Hypnotize beyond imagination. Lancome reinvents the oversize brush. The Convex Brush with its flattened shape allows full contact with lashes for instant Full Body volume. With the new Texturing Complex it exaggerates lash volume."
This mascara comes in three standard shades: 01 Excessive Black, 011 Black Pearl, 02 Brown. I have this in shade 01 Excessive Black which is exactly what I wanted. I like my lashes to look dark as this helps them to look more prominent, and it also suits my naturally dark hair colour. The mascara has also been released in some colourful variations: 09 Ultra Lavande, 013 Black Blue and 015 Gris Fatale, although I'm not sure why these are a cheaper price, it seems a bit unfair to charge more for the standard colours that most people will want to wear. The full size product contains 6.5mls, and my mini version lasted for around three months of use.
The mascara brush is quite full with a large number of bristles covering the surface. It has a semi-circular shape that allows you to reach in and apply the mascara evenly across the whole of your eyelashes as it reaches right into both corners. This does mean that there is a "right" side and a "wrong" side, so you need to pay attention to the alignment of the brush as you're putting the mascara on. I usually apply by putting the mascara wand in close to the roots of my eye lashes, and then combing it upwards from the base up to the tips. I then repeat the process and give another quick swipe to neaten and separate. For my lower lashes I find that the curve does not quite fit along my lash line properly and so I just use the tip of the brush to reach in and define these smaller lashes.
When I use this mascara I tend to apply two coats to my upper lashes, and one coat to my lower lashes. This gives a really striking look that opens my eyes for a pretty wide-eyed appearance. The mascara itself goes on smoothly and separates lashes, stopping any clumps from forming. Rather than giving an OTT false look this mascara adds body and volume, and the way that it coats my lashes makes it look like I have a really full set of eyelashes. The description for this product is really accurate and it delivers exactly what it promises to. This is the perfect product for a glamorous and elegant look that is dramatic without coming across as fake or tacky. The mascara works well to lengthen my lashes, and it seems to straighten and separate them so that they fan out and look really full. The volume gives a noticeable improvement but does not look exaggerated.
I really like the effect that this Hypnose Drama Mascara has on my lashes. It's a high-end product that justifies the price tag with its excellent performance and I can definitely recommend it.
~Hypnose Drama Mascara~
'Instant full body volume mascara'
This mascara is one of many available from premium beauty brand Lancome. Lancome market this mascara as being perfect for creating 'dramatically full and thicker looking lashes'. There are currently three shades available :
*01 -Excessive Black
*011 - Black Pearl
*02 - Excessive brown
This mascara is available in a waterproof and standard version.
Hypnose Drama Mascara is presented in slim, sleek looking black tube which curves in the middle. I find the tube to look expensive and stylish thanks to the gold writing against the black. This particular mascara has a long wand which features a 'curvaceous, oversized brush' according to Lancome. The brush is designed to be used in two ways. The flatter side can be used to neatly coat your lashes by combing through the root to tip in a zig-zag motion. The curved size of the brush is said to 'structure, seperate and to further enhance' the look of your lashes.
~Price and Availablity~
An 6.5ml tube of Hypnose Drama Mascara can be bought from any Lancome counter (stores including Debenhams and House of Fraser) and also online from stores including Boots. Expect to pay around £21.00 for this mascara. It is also worthwhile watching out for special offers in department stores including a few gift set when you purchase 2 or more Lancome products.
If you buy directly from the Lancome website you can opt for a set including the mascara, a small eyeliner and a make up remover lotion for the same price as the mascara on its own.
Mascara is a staple in my make up box and I own quite a few. My collection has grown over the past few months and today I will be discussing a mascara that I am quite fond of. I have naturally dark eye lashes but they aren't particularly thick. I crave eyelashes like my son and fiance as they have long, dark and fluttery eyelashes that most women would die for! This is my main reason for using mascara and also because I consider my eyes to be my best feature so like to enhance them in any way I can.
Whilst I can appreciate that £21.00 is a lot to pay for a mascara, I do feel that with premium brands you often get what you pay for. I never pay full price for things and always participate in special deals hence why my make up/beauty collection is so big. You do get a lot for your money with this mascara as it lasts for ages.
I have shade 01 - Excessive Black as black is my preferred choice of shade when it comes to mascara and eyeliner. I have the standard version. Applying my mascara is normally the final part of my make up routine so it is important to get it right to avoid any mess. Like with any other new mascara, a new brush can take a little bit of getting used to and this one is no different.
The wand is a good length and the well shaped lid is easy to grasp. The brush on the end of the wand is made up of lots of little bristles which are attatched to a curvy piece in the middle The brush is quite flexible but sturdy and durable. A lot of attention has gone in to making sure the packaging is of a high quality and fit for purpose. The mascara liquid itself is lightly scented and has a medium consistency - not too thin nor heavy and thick. When I release the wand from the tube, a decent amount of mascara is evident on the brush head but sometimes I need to scrape a little off back into the tube to avoid having too much mascara on it.
Applying this mascara was easy once I had gotten the hang of it. The straighter side of the brush is perfect for creating a natural look on my eyelashes. The brush glides effortlessly from the root of my lashes to the tip and the mascara liquid transfers perfectly well with one sweep and without any dragging or clumping. Here I notice that the mascara has taken well to my lashes and left them looking lengthened slightly and tinted black. It feels incredibly lightweight on my lashes and dries very quickly
I find that the best results are obtained by using the curved side of the brush after the initial application of mascara. Applying a second coat with the curved side gives my lashes a much fuller, darker appearance. The curved side is the perfect size to reach even the smallest lashes and whilst it does take a bit of getting used to, once mastered is really worth taking advantage of. It does take a little longer for the second coat of mascara to dry but once it has settled, my eyelashes are left looking gorgeous and fluttery. The black colour intensifies with two coats and this look is perfect for more 'done up' than 'natural' looking eyelashes. It looks good but not cheap or fake like false eyelashes. Perfect for a night out.
When it comes to staying power I have been impressed by this mascara. It stays put on my eyelashes with no smudging or flaking for most of the day. It doesn't need topped up as the colour and effects stay put and look good. Whilst I have the standard version, I do feel it is hardwearing. I've been got in the rain a few times and it has never ran down my face but I do feel it would smudge if you rubbed your eyes or wore it in the bath or something. I use an eye make up remover liquid to remove my mascara and find that it comes off perfectly fine.
I love the way this mascara enhances my eyelashes giving them a much fuller, dramatic look. It is one of the best that I have used and wears beautifully on my eyes. It is gentle and my sensitive eyes have not suffered any ill-effects from using it so I am happy to recommend it. It is of a high quality which is exactly what I expect from a brand such as Lancome. The mascara remains moist and fresh inside the tube.
Thanks for reading :)
I've tried so many different mascaras over the years, and i have never found one that does what i want it to, yet this mascara ticks all the boxes.
It's around £20 so it is rather costly, however it is definitely worth it.
I have always put on more than one coat of mascara, to attempt to get the volume and length which i want, however, i only need to put on one coat of Lancome to notice a big difference.
The colour black is great, as it is very black and makes my lashes stand out.
It is good with separating my lashes; not clumping your lashes together which many other mascaras tend to do.
It creates the length which many people desire- despite one coat being enough, i do still put on about 2 or 3 so mine really are long.
The random shape of the wand is perfect- it reaches just about all of my lashes in one sweep.
The only thing i would say is that it is maybe slightly harder to take off with make up remover, but not really a problem.
This is a mascara from Lancome and costs around £20 for the large 6.5ml tube. The brush is quite fat and in a curved shape. This helps to create volume.
**My personal opinion**
This mascara by Lancome takes a bit of getting used to when compared to a regular mascara. At first, I found it clumpy and very 'wet' which meant I often smudged it. However, now I am used to using it I find it is an excellent mascara once it is applied properly. I suggest wiggling the brush through the lashes to separate them out. It gives a very dramatic look and I hardly ever use lash extensions but people often ask me if my lashes are real. On the down side, I did find that the mascara dried up quite quickly, although I have had it for 8 months I guess, so perhaps not that quickly. I think it is expensive for a mascara but it is a good one, so with proper application you won't be disappointed. I have only had the Black 01 colour so cannot comment on the rest of the range, nor can I comment on the other Hypnose mascaras until I have tried them.
It is worth noting that Lancome often do special deals such as 2 for £20 in special offer boxes for the Hypnose mascaras. These are great value.
As an ex-cosmetic employee I got hooked on premium brands at low prices, now I am forced to pay full price I am a lot more careful about what premium products I still use. Lancome mascaras are one of the few things I will not compromise on!
I have used Hypnose for years but tried Hypnose Drama for the first time a few months ago and WOW! It really vamps up my lashes, so much so that I won't even use it in the daytime. Hypnose Drama gives my lashes a much longer and thicker appearance, almost as though I'm wearing extensions (but I've never been able to apply them properly!)
One thing to be cautious of - due to the unusual shape of the brush you need to make sure you apply it with the curved part of the wand facing upwards, otherwise your lashes can clump together.
I have been using this product for a few months and it's still moist and feels as good as it did when it was new. I will be stretching it out a little longer though as Lancome usually sell their mascaras in sets with a make up remover and eye pencil around christmas time. I'm a sucker for a freebie!
Try it ladies, you won't regret it ;)
Over the years finding the right mascara has become a long drawn out search. I tend to find ones that add length make my already long lashes look too spindly or ones that claim to give a fuller thicker appearance just make my lashes look clumpy and stuck together. In my search I have found that the more expensive mascaras tend to perform better therefore I do not mind spending a little bit more if I know I'm purchasing a mascara that offers superior results. I tend to use a MAC mascara however I was looking to change as I wanted a more dramatic mascara that added length and thickness. I decided to read up on a number of beauty reviews and the Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara had glowing reports so I decided to give it a try.
***Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara***
The description of the product is "Instant lash coating with immediate load thanks to a new formula which gives intense volume to the look of lashes. New curvaceous oversized brush gives full lash contact for dramatically fuller and thicker looking lashes."
When looking for a mascara I tend to opt for products which give a more dramatic effect as I tend to wear quite dark eye make up for more special dressed up occasions (usually with false lashes). On a typical day I do not wear as much eye make-up but I do like quite a natural look but with dark full eye lashes as it is not practical for me to wear false lashes on a daily basis. Therefore I want mascara that emphasizes my own lashes to the maximum without them looking clumped together or spindly.
I struggle with mascaras because my eyelashes without make up on are naturally quite long. I am very conscious though that if I use some mascaras they just make my lashes look longer but spindly therefore I want added fullness to balance out the length. But most of the mascaras I have tried that offer fullness just make my lashes look dramatic but stuck together and it is visible I am wearing a "bad" mascara. Therefore my expectation of the Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara was to emphasise my long lashes but give a natural dark fullness to them.
The product is available in a standard version and non-waterproof. I have purchased and used both the waterproof and non-waterproof version of the mascara. I actually purchased the waterproof one by accident when I ordered a replacement online.
The mascara is available in three colours, 01 black, 011 black pearl and 02 brown. I have purchased this in black therefore my review will be based on this colour.
The Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara is available from Lancome concessions which are located in most department stores which include Debenhams, House of Fraser, John Lewis, Selfridges and is also available in Boots. I purchased this in Debenhams for £20.50 for an 8ml tube. The price in store tends to be slightly more expensive and online beauty retailers tend to sell this product slightly cheaper. You can purchase this from www.feelunique.com and www.echemist.com for around £18.00 for an 8ml tube.
The Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara comes in an 8ml long black tube which narrows in the middle and has a slightly pointed tip to the end of the tube. The Lancome brand name is written in gold as is the product name however the tube is very plain and has a very classic and expensive look to it.
When you screw off the pointed angular lid from the tube the mascara wand is attached to the lid as it is with most mascara. However the wand is not standard and looks very different to other mascara wands I have seen. The mascara brush firstly is very thick and has a curved almost C shape to it.
The directions for use are "Place the flat curved slide of the brush on the lash fringe. Let the brush glide on lashes from root to tip with a zig zag movement. Turn the brush and use the side bristles to structure your gaze. Continue the application with the side bristles for further separation and volume"
Because I had not used a brush like this before I decided to try and follow the directions in order to get the most from applying this mascara. As someone who is very confident applying eye make-up (liquid eyeliner and false eyelashes) I did actually find applying using this brush quite difficult initially and it took me practice to perfect the application and feel confident doing so. My main issue was the size of the brush and ensuring the curved section of the brush was held at the correct angle to my lashes in order to effectively coat my eyelashes in product.
I did find the consistency of the mascara was a lot thinner than many other mascaras I have used so the brush glided onto lashes rather than stick as it does with the more gloopy consistency mascaras. I also find because the consistency of the mascara is thinner it does not dry up or go clumpy quickly therefore you get almost 10 weeks' worth of daily use out of this mascara where with many mascaras I find they are too thick to use after only 5 weeks or so.
Although the mascara is thinner than other products I have used it still creates very definte and black lashes. I was extremely surprised that on the first application the mascara liquid felt thin but as the brush touched my lashes they instantly are coated in the black mascara and have a very dramatic look to them.
The application does take some perfecting but once you have practiced using the brush you soon get used to applying with it. The curve in the brush allows you to coat from the root to the tip and I feel that you get a very definite black look to lashes as the entire lash is covered rather than just the ends. The brush also lets you get into lashes in the corners of your eyes. I find one coat gives my lashes a long full look but I tend to apply a light second coat just to give added blackness and drama. Although the mascara does not look or go clumpy I do feel that more than two light coats could give too false a look and your lashes might start looking stuck together just because they have too much mascara on them.
Because I wear quite dramatic false lashes on a regular basis I tend to never be entirely happy with the results that mascara alone can achieve however with the Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara I was definitely satisfied. My lashes had a very black dramatic look to them without this being too false or unnatural looking. The results are quite dramatic and probably not for those that only like light make up but give the look of naturally long full lashes without having to wear false lashes or look like you are just wearing too much mascara.
Even though I have naturally long lashes I felt my lashes looked even longer. I tend to curl my lashes before applying mascara but even on the occasions I have not done so my lashes still have a full curve upwards after using this mascara which emphasises the length and gives a wide open eye look.
I like that although this mascara adds length it does not make my lashes look long thin and spindly. The dark appearance of the mascara gives a fuller thicker look which balances out the additional length given to lashes. I like the fullness this mascara gives as it gives the appearance of lots of lashes as opposed to lashes looking overloaded with mascara. This gives a fluttery full look which you usually only achieve with false lashes or lash inserts instead of the thick clumpy look most "volumising" mascaras give to lashes.
If I apply this mascara on a morning I find it lasts all day and it does not need reapplied or it does not start to crumble and leave black marks under your eyes like many types of mascara do after a few hours of wear. The mascara does not smudge even when applied on your bottom lashes and if you rub your eyes lightly you do not end up with black eyes and smeared mascara.
In terms of the difference between the waterproof and non waterproof versions I personally prefer the non-waterproof version because it is very durable and hardwearing for a standard mascara. The waterproof version is great if you go swimming regularly and it does not run if you get wet and touch your eyes. However if you were to rub your eyes quite hard you would get very light smudging. The reason I would not buy this version again is that it is quite difficult to remove. With standard make up wipes and make up removers you have to take a lot of wipes to remove it as it is very waterproof and I feel you need a very oily type eye make-up remover to get it off your eyes fully.
The non-waterproof version suits my needs perfectly and it is durable enough to last if you get caught in a rain shower as it does not run and even if you do wear it for a trip to the swimming pool, providing you do not touch or rub your eyes it will not smear or run down your face. Even on hot days the non-waterproof version stays on your lashes and does not run down your face. It is a lot easier to remove too and I find I can just use a make-up wipe to remove this version of the mascara rather than having to use eye make-up remover after.
Unfortunately I still have not found the perfect mascara which eliminates the need for me to wear false lashes but this is probably one of the best mascaras I have used which creates long, thick, full fluttery lashes which appear natural and give a wide eyed look.
The black Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara is dramatic and creates noticeable full black lashes but is not mascara which looks too much or makes lashes look clumpy or weighed down. Instead lashes look light and fluttery but in a noticeable way.
For £20 this is definitely a premium priced mascara but I do feel it is worth paying extra for as it delivers superior lashes in comparison to cheaper brands of mascara. And because of the slightly thinner consistency of the mascara I find it lasts a lot longer than many other products which start to dry up and go clumpy meaning you need to replace the mascara sooner.
The large curved brush does take some getting used to but once you have had some practice applying using this brush you will because and expert at creating long thick dramatic lashes in less than 2 minutes!
Lancome are a premium cosmetic brand that can be found amongst other similar brands like Estee Lauder and Clarins in a range of stores such as larger Boots stores and department stores like John Lewis and Selfridges. To me their cosmetic stand always jumps out at me as the black style is really catchy and classy. They do a wide range of products which I have only recently dipped my toe into after ditching high street branded products after having enough of them not living up to their promises. Although most of their products are a little pricey in my opinion, the quality of them makes up for it and I have found, so far, that they are long lasting and do what they say on tin as it were. When you think of all the money you can waste on cheap high street cosmetic products that don't do anything you may as well just buy one from a premium brand, like Lancome, and be fully satisfied with it - that is my new moto.
Mascaras are a difficult product to buy as essentially they all do the same thing really, don't they? When there is so much competition out there it can be difficult to know which product to buy when they are all promising you the earth. I tend to have to use a number of mascaras to get my desired look as I have quite short and straight lashes which take a while to build up and look nice so for me, a product that can do that by itself and without the aid of other mascaras would be ideal and a great money saver. The name of this product attracted me to it when I was browsing as 'drama' is what I was looking for as well as the innovative shaped wand which is somewhat similar to an 'S' shape, therefore reaching all the lashes and providing really good lengthening qualities. It comes in a black botle that goes wide then thin and up to a point at the top so looks nice on a dressing table and it has the name of the product on the top of the wand. At £19.50 this product is far from cheap in comparison to high street mascaras, but if it works well then I don't mind paying a little extra especially as Lancome sometimes have offers on when if you buy 2 products you get the third free, or sometimes small samples etc. On top of that you've got your Boots points too, so you can't moan at that really.
So when it came to application, I noticed the consistency seemed average of a typical mascara but it was the wand I was mainly excited about. As soon as I began to apply I noticed a real difference in my lashes when I looked in the mirror and compared one eye with mascara to the one without - it really worked better than expected. I thought it may lengthen a little, but this 'S' shaped wand allowed me to reach all my lashes without smudging onto my skin and built them up really well. I found I didn't even need to apply liquid eyeliner which I usually do to give a darker effect on my eyes as this looked sufficient enough by itself. Before I knew it I had massive, volumised and fanned out lashes - exactly what I was living for and reminding me that the product lived up to its promise of 'drama'. Since my first application I have used it daily and found that a more natural overall effect can be achieved by applying less coats to the lashes so they look natural but nice at the same time. In the evening or for a night out I tend to apply more and build up the product to give the effect of almost false lashes. In terms or removing, it couldn't be easier as it comes off effortlessly with a face wipe like most other mascaras. I have been using it for a couple of months now and there is plenty of product left so I assume it'll last some time yet.
Overall I would definitely recommend this to anyone who struggles to get amazing looking lashes with ease or without the application of false lashes. Its great for a more natural, or dramatic look making it suitable for all occasions!
I am always trying mascaras from the cheap ones at around £3-5 to the more expensive ones at £18-25. I think I have tried the majority on the market over the years, read magazine reviews on them but there are only a very few that do exactly what they say on the tin!
I actually managed to try this one as part of a gift set when I bought two other Lancome products. Always look out for offers in the major department stores or online as they often have gift sets available with a purchase or two allowing you to buy new products for free!
I had this mascara as part of a gift set of skin care and make up together with a make up bag. The sample size was 2ml and I tend to keep them to take away for the weekend or on holiday.
I took this one away with me on my summer two week break and have to say it is amazing.
Ok, the full size version is around about £18 to £22 at the moment (September 2010).
This mascara is in a very ergonomically friendly but stylish black packaging with silver writing, together with a cardboard box.
Place the flat curved side of the brush at the root of the lash fringe and gently comb from root to tip with a zig-zag movement, therefore covering all the lashes from route to tip. Turn the brush and use the side bristles to structure, separate and to further enhance lash volume.
This product is suitable for sensitve skin.
On application I was just amazed not only at the length but the volume of my lashes were enhanced far better than any other product I have used. So much so that my fiance even commented on how long my lashes were! By the way, they arent without this mascara!
The product dries quickly and lasts for a good 10-12 hours without requiring any touching up.
**WHERE TO BUY**
Lancome products and this mascara are available to purchase on line at various outlets as well as major Boots stores and other high street departments stores such as Debenhams.
JUST ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT MASCARA!
I am a mascara addict but am too frugal to splurge on expensive ones. I was in luck one day and received the Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara as a sample! And boy was I amazed with the results! Talking about being dramatic.
The brush is in an curvature shape to help reach most of the eyelash in a single application. The first application instantly added volume, length and boldness to your eyelashes, without clumps. The second application was even more amazing. It definitely sticks to its name.. and gives you the dramatic look, perfect for the night out... still without clumps!
If you ask me what is the difference between this Lancome and other mascara in the market?
1) The brush is very soft, and smoothens onto your eyelashes easily.. even on the second application. The result is a smooth and naturally dramatic looking eyelashes (a bit contradicting, but I think you know what I mean).
2) The mascara does not stick to the bottom of the bottle or come out looking clumpy, even after use many times.
However, once I am finished with the product... I think I might still stick to my good old Maybelline. To the ladies who do not mind splurging, this is definitely worth a buy.
I love, love, love this mascara, its the best one I have tried in a very long time. I had wanted to try this for ages as my friends couldn't stop raving about it when it first came out, but was put off slightly by the price. I have tried expensive mascaras in the past and always found that high street brands give the same effect, if not better. But with disappointment after disappointment of new mascaras being released, I decided to give it a go and got it duty free whilst at the airport. I'm so glad I did.
The result gives a dramatic, bold look whilst adding volume, length and defenition to your lashes. The 'S' shaped wand allows you to reach the smaller lashes in the corner giving you a wide awake look. I find the result to be so good, that I don't even need to use my eyeliner anymore!
I find the wand very easy to use, as the curve in it mimics the shape of your eyelid, so just a few simple strokes are necessary to give a dramatic look. I still do, however, make a bit of a mess over my eyelid but I do with all mascaras. I think I'm just a bit too enthusiastic when it comes to a mascara wand! I normally use one coat for an everyday look and two coats for more impact if I'm going out.
This mascara ranges from around £16.00 to £21.50 at amazon.co.uk, so shop around to get the best deal, or if your going to the airport, buy duty free as I did. You'll find in most department stores it will retail at around £18.00.
Overall, I really love this mascara and will be buying another one after I run out. For someone with short, sparse eyelashes (as I have) I would definately recommend to try.
I am quite a fan of mascara, and was delighted when I found this in a Lancome goody bag that my boyfriend got given at a press event.
The packaging is pretty standard for Lancome, the silver box is neat and classic, and the actual mascara and it's wand are in a black plastic tube, which is a rather strange shape, to match the curvature of the wand itself.
My first impression of the wand ws a bit like - how am I supposed to put that on? And it is rather tricky. The curves mean you have to concentrate on the angle that you are applying the mascara. Personally, I am lazy - I like to not have to think too much about it. And prefer a normal shaped wand. But the bristles are not like a regular brush they are shaped out more, like little prongs.
I found that the shape of the wand caused me to paint my eyelid a few times, which meant I had to then get a little cotton bud to remove this excess, but I think it is a case of getting used to the shape of the wand and getting the knack of applying it.
The consistency of the mascara is rather thick, and I felt that it was a bit clumpy. I had to keep going over and over the lashes with the wand several times to ensure they were separated. But they do make the lashes look thick and long - you just need to be patient and keep stroking them with the wand to unclump them.
In terms of styaing power, this mascara certainly survived the rain test, and I must confess I commited the awful sin of going to sleep without taking it off. But I awoke with just the merest hint of panda eyes, but it was easily removed with a face wipe. And my eyes didn't feel irritated, and my eyelashes didn't start falling out like they do with some mascaras.
The price of this will vary depending on where you buy it. I have seen it available on the internet for as little as £6 which is a bargain, but I have also seen it for as much as £18! So shop around and get a good deal. For £6 this mascara is a good buy but for £18 it's no worth it at all.
As some of my other reviews mention, I'm a big fan of mascara. If I only have time to apply one thing then it'll always be mascara; I can have a full face of make up but still feel bare without it. So, because of this, I'm always trying new ones on the never ending search for the perfect wand. I've been trying a few up market brands recently, when I read about this one online. I had a browse on Ebay and managed to find a sample of it, which I promptly purchased. I had read that the brilliance of this was partly due to it's special wand, so I was a bit concerned that the sample wouldn't have the right wand - being a sample (I had this with a No7 mascara sample) but thankfully the sample comes with the correct wand.
The case is the usual Lancome black mascara case. The brush is a kind of 'S' shape, which isn't as gimmicky as it may sound.
Application is a breeze. The wand is just thick enough to give excellent coverage without being so thick that you end up smudging it all over the eye area. The 'S' shaped brush is fantastic as it means that as you apply mascara in the normal fashion, the tip reaches the really short lashes on the inner eye, whilst the outer part of the brush applies a lot more to the outer lashes. I only needed one coat as the impact was impressive straight away.
The effect is just beautiful. It covers every lash, resulting in thick, incredibly long, glossy lashes. This is not the sort of mascara that appears natural as you really do end up with amazingly long lashes, however, the comments I've received have been about how long my lashes are as apposed to how great my mascara is, so maybe it's just the fact that it's just a dramatic improvement that makes me feel it's not natural. I wear this on a daily basis with no other eye make up because it really does make me look made up without needing anything else. You can wear it with black eyeliner for a really dramatic effect, but I'm happy with just this.
On buying this, I had no idea just how brilliant it would be. I've used Lancome mascaras in the past and always had positive experiences with them, however they've really outdone themselves this time as it truly is amazing. I used to get semi-permanent lashes applied but there's no way I need them now.
I paid £3 for the sample (best bargain ever!) but the full sized version is around £19.50.
So in summary, I couldn't recommend this mascara highly enough; I believe there are still some samples on Ebay at a very reasonable price, so if you can buy yourself one then I suggest you do pronto!
