Lancome Juicy Tube
Advantages: Good color range, nice smell
Disadvantages: Too pricey, sticky
Lancome juicy tubes seem to be one of those beauty must-haves people are always talking about, so when I had some money over, I went to get a tube. Juicy Tubes is a lipgloss, which is supposed to be ultra shiny and long lasting, from the upmarket comsmetics company Lancome.
Avaliability - you can buy from the lancome website (www.lancome.co.uk). The website also has a list of stockists, but most large department stores or Boots have a lancome counter.
Cost - £13.50 for 15 ml.
Packaging - comes in a clear plastic tube with a plastic top & the words 'Lancome Juicy Tubes' and the Lancome logo on it in gold. The tube is sold in a small grey cardboard box. Altogether, the packaging is quite tasteful & expensive looking.
Colors - the website advertises a range of 16 colors, including browns, pinks, clear, oranges and reds - you should be able to find a color to suit any skin tone.I chose a shade called ' Cherry Rocks', which is a natural pink color. However, not all of these shades are avaliable from the website, and most shops only stock the most popular colors.
Smell - 'Cherry Rocks' actually smells faintly like Cherries, albeit a slightly synthetic smell. This smell is present when you initially apply the gloss, but wears of very quickly afterwards.
Performance - I'd reccomend having well exfoliated and conditioned lips before you apply this, because like most lip glosses, it looks terrible on even slightly chapped lips - and it definetly doesn't replace a good lipbalm.
You squeeze the tube & it has an applicator-style plastic top, or you can use your finger or a brush to apply more neatly, as the top is very broad and can lead to messy, uneven application.
Initially, this lipgloss feels quite sticky and heavy - you are definetly aware of it on your lips. I have very short hair, but I imagine if you have long hair, it would be a problem on a windy day, with your hair sticking to your lips.
After a few minutes, it seems to settle down abit & doesn't feel quite so sticky, though you can still feel it on your lips.
I like the color of Cherry Rocks - it's a nice, natural daytime shade & suits my cool skintone.
This lipgloss lasts well if you don't mess with it -
however, it isn't transfer resistant - you will need to reapply after eating/drinking/kissing & I prefer to wipe it all of completely, condition my lips and start again, because if you just keep 'topping it up' all the time, it gets really heavy and sticky feeling.
Basically, this is a nice lipgloss, but it is very expensive - I have used products such as Bourjous and Loreal for half the price which have performed just aswell.
Lancome make a Juicy Tubes Christams gift set, (4 mini tubes), which would be a nice present for people into designer makeup.
Summary: Alright, but not such a 'must-have.'
