Advantages: Not sticky, good packaging
I remember a few years ago there was a massive trend for Lancome Juicy Tubes, but it seems to have died down now although they are still fairly popular.
Juicy Tubes are a 15ml lip gloss in a small, squeezable tube. To use, you simply unscrew the little clear plastic lid, and squeeze the end of the tube to apply directly on your lips. The only Juicy Tube I own is a clear lip gloss because I'm boring, however my sister owns them in a few different colours including a sparkly pink and brown. Although the colours look quite strong and rich in the tube, they show only lightly on the lips, being a lip gloss, and their main purpose is to make your lips shiny rather than add much colour.
This can be slightly disappointing when you first apply the gloss; however the advantage is that the Juicy Tubes are suited to pretty much all skin tones and complexions no matter which colour you pick, and they are good for a more subtle look.
I also like the fact that the packaging is simple, although the cardboard box that comes with the lip gloss is a tad unnecessary. The fact that the tube is small with a secure lid makes it easy to slip into your bag, particularly if you're like me and favour small bags on a night out. There are no massive lids to make the product look bigger, or any of the other gimmicky things make up brands normally try. Because of this I have more respect for the brand in general, and it does make a small but significant impact on the environment. I've never had any problems with this lip gloss leaking unlike with other brands/varieties I've used, and I can literally just throw it in my bag without worrying.
This lip gloss is a little bit sticky, but it does glide on nicely and lasts for a decent amount of time. Its popularity is shown in the fact that several other brands produced knock-off cheap versions in similar packaging (but it's a step in the right direction I guess!).
Juicy Tubes are available from department stores and the bigger Boots shops, so it is considered to be a 'premium brand'. You can buy Juicy Tubes individually or in sets - in fact the set I bought for my sister was purchased as a special edition from airport duty free. Unfortunately, even shopping around won't get you much money off, and it's something worth saving your Botts points up for as each individual tube costs around the £15-£17 mark. Even online isn't cheaper, but if you do go down that route be careful where you buy from as there are many make-up knock-offs floating around.
Overall, I would recommend Lancome's Juicy Tubes because they do last a long time despite the high price tag, and they don't suffer from the common problems of being too sticky or coming in oversized packaging.
