Lancome Teint Idole
Advantages: Nice coverage
I purchased the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra foundation on the recommendation of the make up artist who did my wedding makeup. I didn't use it on my wedding day but was interested to know what she recommended for a light-coverage foundation. I can't bear caked on foundation and hate the feeling that your face is in some sort of face mask when the foundation is too heavy. Equally, I can't bear foundation that doesn't cover basic skin flaws or comes off easily. I wanted a light-coverage foundation which would provide me with a nice base for my skin.
I had a skin match at the Lancome beauty counter and asked for a sample so that I could try it a few times to ensure I liked it. I did like it and ended up with colour number 02. It is definitely worth getting a sample and the ladies at the beauty counter understand that you want to try it several times before making an investment. At £27 per 30ml bottle, it isn't cheap so you want to make sure it is right for you. The foundation comes in a bottle with a pump action. The foundation is liquid and best applied with a foundation brush. I find for me a full squeeze of the pump provides too much foundation for my needs, I tend to squeeze it between half and three quarters of the way to get the right about of foundation for my needs and that means I don't waste it. The foundation is oil free and has an SPF10.
As aforementioned, the coverage is very light, I can very rarely feel this on my skin which I really like. It covers up all basic blemishes such as red patches around the nose and does quite a good job on spots without the need to use concealer. If I am going on a night out I also use a Smashbox primer underneath to ensure I get long-lasting coverage. The two combine really well and I don't find the need for a heavier coverage foundation when I go out at night. I would say in terms of how it lasts over the day, it lasts quite well, I wouldn't say it was quite the 14 hours it claims, but certainly gets me through a day at work. Additionally, it is worth noting I only use a very small amount and coverage can be built up by layering more foundation on in thin layers. I occasionally do this for a night out and it doesn't look clumpy in the slightest. I also find there is a nice natural feel to this foundation with a bit of a natural sheen popping through rather than completely matt look which I don't like at all.
== Other points==
This foundation typically lasts me around 5-6 months depending on how much I use it (try not to use it if I don't need it). In that sense it seems to be quite a good buy. I tried another "new" Lancome foundation which was just hideous and ended up going back to my trusty faithful Teint Idole Ultra.
I have and will continue to buy this foundation again. It goes on smoothly, looks great and feels nice too. Give it a try!
Summary: Overall, I really like it.
