      Very helpful

waste of money, left two people disappointed, nice packaging but the product is awful

I first bought this mascara when it was on offer in House of Fraser during the Christmas period. Because of the offer, I think if you spent over £40, you got two Lancome products for free. I chose two hypnose mascaras as the free gifts, and gave one to my mother as part of her Christmas present. The mascara on its own is worth £21 in House of Fraser, so I thought this was a brilliant deal and snatched up the opportunity.

Lancome is a brand I trust a lot, and have been using for quite a few years. I have many products by them such as eye-shadows, lipsticks, pressed powders and kohl eye liners. They have served me well, lasting a long time and proving that it's worth buying more expensive make up. This however, is one Lancome product that I am not a fan of.

The tube is in an unusual shape, not one I've seen anywhere else - the tube is black and it is very curvy but them comes to an abrupt stop on the lid and has a gold top. 'Hypnose' is written on the side next to the trademark Lancome Rose, and there is a gold rim near the opening of the tube. I do like the packaging though, its unique and aesthetically pleasing.

The brush itself is not very good - it is very slim and the bristles are not very large so do not catch eyelashes very well. I would prefer the bristles to be wide and the shape of the brush to be curved as it would give more volume to the lashes. The tube also lets the brush become glooped up with mascara as it does not have a sufficient way to wipe off the excess. This means you have to clean the brush more than you usually would or else your eyelashes will look like they've grown life.

The mascara also does not smell very nice - it smells of ink and chemicals, not something I would expect from such a well known and expensive brand.

The worst thing about this mascara, is that it is very watery in consistency. This means it takes a long time to dry and if you curl your eyelashes, mascara will smudge all over your upper eyelids and make a huge mess of your eye shadow. This is very irritating as it does nothing for your lashes either, and its just a waste of time, effort and money.

This is one Lancome product that for me has absolutely failed. Will not be buying again. The only good thing is the packaging. My mother also found the same problems as me with her mascara. Very disappointing, a waste of money.
