I often buy the beauty magazines and fashion magazines mainly because of the free make up that comes with it, it's always high quality expensive make up too, I received the mini travel sized version of this in one of them once which has led me to start buying the full version. This is available online or in store at places such as house of fraser. This retails at £21. Which some may find pricey but these days if you want something decent that will last all day for months and do the job properly buying a more expensive one will last you longer than an average one anyway.
This comes in one shade which is black, When first taking this out of the tube the brush is already evenly coated with mascara product and there was no need to put it back in to get more or even wipe any excess off because it was perfect first time around. The application brush bristles are bigger at one end and smaller at the other, so it fits perfectly the shape of the eye and the smaller end it really helpful to get those little lashes in the corner of the eye which I have never been able to do before now because with other mascaras it has always been so messy.
This went on really smooth and got every last the first time round coating them in a nice black layer that didn't appear too much of heavy but enough to make my eyes stand out. Because of this reason I have never felt the need to re apply another layer, unless I'm having smokey eyed make up or going out then I may apply another layer, this dries really quickly so I only have to wait a couple of minutes before re applying another layer, this doesn't clump up my eye lashes and they still look lovely and curled. The most I've put on before it three layers and this still felt really light weight on my eyes and really defined.
This is long lasting, I can apply this in the morning and it's effects will still be visible in the evening, this I found is really easy to wipe off as well, even though it stays put all day it comes off straight away when wiping off with make up wipes.
I was delighted to receive an email from Lancome just over a month ago where they were congratulating me on winning a prize in their competition, which I had entered a few weeks prior. I learned that I was to receive a black travel size version of their new Hynpose Star Show Stopping Volume Mascara and my interest in the competition was due to the adorable image of Betty Boop who was displayed on their website. As I'm a fan of Miss Boop and own a huge selection of porcelain and resin figurines, I was fascinated to learn that the loveable lady recently put on an exclusive show with top model Daria Werbowy, where this new mascara was launched.
If you are familiar with the character of Betty Boop you will be aware that she possesses the most stunning show stopping eye lashes and I eagerly awaited my prize. One week later, I was thrilled to receive not one, but two separate jiffy envelopes, each containing a 2 ml travel size tube and despite the tube being smaller than the full size version of 6 ml it offered a full size brush, so I was in a position to fully assess the product. I must admit that I cannot recall having previously used any products from this brand due to their high prices as my needs are generally met with those offered by Boots No 7. The first thing I noticed is that the brush consists of well spaced bristles of varying lengths, as opposed to rigid plastic, which often scratch the skin around the sensitive eye area as well as creating difficulties when applying to the small inner lashes. The perfectly tapered almost flat brush is fairly narrow and does not contain an excessive amount of bristles, so first impressions were good, as I felt assured that I would be able to achieve accurate eye-catching results.
On removing the brush I was able to witness that it was evenly coated with a sufficient amount of mascara, so there was no need for me to wipe any excess against the upper section of the tube. I am unable to speak of the size of the wand, particularly as my travel size product is smaller, but I experienced no difficulties with obtaining a steady grip during application. I must admit to being absolutely amazed at the application process, which initially was for my working day at the office, as it was effortless where the brush fully coated and defined the lashes without the need for a further application.
Unfortunately, I was not blessed with long curled eye lashes, so I normally have to use an eye lash curlers where I place more emphasis on my outer lashes. Whilst I am unable to create curls along the entire length of my lashes, I can achieve a sexy curled effect on the outer lashes by simply applying a little pressure when lifting the brush upwards. The consistency of the mascara enables my lashes to appear fuller, volumised and longer without giving me an over made-up baby doll image, which is a look I steer well clear of. I have not suffered any signs of clumping or tiny mascara fragments adhering themselves to the end of the lashes, which is often the case with some brands. It is very rare that my husband will comment on my make-up, but he actually paid me a compliment the first time I used this product where he informed me that my eyes looked extremely sexy!
To create a more dramatic appearance for special occasions and evening wear, I simply apply a further layer and am absolutely thrilled with the results, particularly as the mascara is fast drying, so there is no waiting around in between coats. The staying power is superb as it lasts from the moment I apply it until I am ready to remove it. I have suffered no adverse effects when using as it has not smudged or dispersed any tiny flakes into my eyes, which is something I've previously experienced with a few brands. In respect of its performance, the mascara ticks every box for me as in addition to its high quality results, it is non waterproof, so I find it easy to remove with a little baby lotion and cotton wool. The mascara should be used within 6 months of using and the tube is recyclable once empty.
However, the price is a little excessive as the 6 ml tube costs £21, which is far more than I am prepared to pay and for that reason it loses a star from me.
