*Why I want the product*
I like to collect lipsticks and with lipsticks come lip glosses, I have a lovely collection of both and always want to purchase more. I have always seen Laura Mercier as a high quality brand, which due to her high price tag I have been unable to purchase a lot of her products although I would love to, watch this space.
I have heard mixed reviews on Laura Mercier Lip Plumper but wanted to try for myself as what one person likes isn't always the same for the next.
*About the product*
Laura Mercier Lip Plumper comes in eight shades ranging from clear all the way to berry.
The product is said to instantly plump lips that increase within twenty minutes and lasts for over two hours, while hydrating and moisturise for all day wear. Lip Plumper feels refreshing and cooling on the lips with a delicate scent to tickle your taste buds.
Laura Mercier's packing looks expensive. The tube this lip plumper comes in, it feels very well made. You will find this Lip Plumper comes in a 5.1g square tube that is clear at the bottom and the screw off lid is a deep purple with a metallic sheen to it. Although the tube is square the product inside is in a round container. On one side of the tube Laura Mercier is written in the same deep purple as the lid. The bottom of the tube you will find the name of the shade and the expiry is 12 months from opening.
Unscrewing the lid you can feel how well made it is, a lovely sign of quality. Taking the wand out of the tube there is no extra product on the wand and it is all kept on the sponge applicator, because of this though you will find not a lot of product on the sponge and you may need to dip in a few times to get the desired effect you are after.
*Applying the product*
Applying this gloss is very easy and a joy to use. The sponge applicator is very soft with no scratchy parts at all, it is angled like a new lipstick, which is easier to apply to the contours of the lips and easy to create a lip without the need of a lip pencil.
On first application on bare lips Pink Peal feels soothing and cool on the lips, which is refreshing. I felt a slight tingle to my lips, which is due to the plumping ingredients.
The shade I picked is called Pink Pearl; Pink Pearl is a lovely delicate pink. It also has undertones of gold and peach running through it with a lovely shimmer that isn't too in your face. It is a shade that will suit most skin tones and for any season but looks absolutely wonderful in the summer sun as it glistens on your lips with a high gloss.
The formula isn't at all runny but isn't too thick as well, a lovely medium texture that won't run down your mouth or feel so heavy you have to prize your mouth open with a crowbar.
The scent to Pink Pearl is of strawberries, it is sweet yet a delicate scent that compliments the shade perfectly.
*Did it plump my lips?*
Unfortunately I don't think it did, when it is first applied to bare lips you will feel a slight tingle to say it is working and that is it. Laura Mercier does state it plumps lips instantly and increases within a twenty minute bracket. I didn't see any of this happen and my lips stayed the same size, however the gloss made my lips look plumper like all lip glosses but that was it.
Applying it over lipstick is worse as no tingle can be felt.

*Overall how did the product perform?*
It is a lovely gloss, the colour is beautiful and like nothing I have seen before and the formula is divine with no stickiness, it is moisturising on the lips and the gloss can stay put for up to two hours. It feels light and cooling, very glossy and looks great on its own or over your lipstick, but it just doesn't do as it claims, which is to plump those lips.
The scent for this gloss is also undetectable when applied to the lips.
Isn't sticky or tacky even when applied to the back of your hand and rubbed in.
*Would I purchase again*
With regret I would have to say no, just doesn't live up to its claims. Such a shame as it's a lovely product to wear.
