“ Brand: Laura Mercier / Make Up - Brush / Type: Brush / Subcategory: Styling Brush / Sub-Type: Anti Ageing „
I have had this brush for around six months and I got it as part of a Laura Mercier "flawless face kit" containing a few brushes, concealers, tinted moisturiser, powder and various bits and pieces which I bought for a bargain price in Sephora while on holiday in America.
I use this brush to apply the Laura Mercier secret concealer, which is a creamy undereye concealer, and I also use it for the Laura Mercier secret camoflague, which is a general concealer for any blemishes or redness and is harder and more solid in texture.
This brush is 17.15cm long, with a thin black handle and the head is made from synthetic hair. It is a thin, tapered brush so the small end of it enables accurate, precise application in small areas and does not waste product. I really recommend using this brush with the Secret Concealer. If I apply with fingers I waste a lot, which I definitely want to avoid as the concealer is quite expensive for a small amount, it doesn't look as neat and I find it a bit unhygenic to dip into this sort of creamy product with my fingers. I have used other concealer brushes before but much prefer this one, as a lot of concealer brushes are more of a boxy square shape and not so tapered and precise. As the brush has such a small neat pointed end it is great for initial application but I don't think it is the best for blending out. After I put the concealer on with this, I then blend it out with an airbrush concealer brush (which is similar to a really tiny stippling brush) from Sephora to make it look much more natural.
Creamy undereye concealer is extremely easy to pick up with this brush. The Laura Mercier secret camoflague concealer is quite solid and at first I thought it would be difficult to get it onto the brush, but I haven't had a problem. It is easy to transfer it onto the brush. The small tapered end is also great for covering any small blemishes or marks. Near the handle end of the brush handle the brush is a bit wider and you can use it as a flat surface to cover larger areas, which I have done if I want to cover a larger area of redness. Using it flat makes it very quick and easy to cover more skin, although it is still a small brush and definitely not intended to use all over the face.
I have not had any shedding of hairs from this brush and it feels soft and comfortable on my skin, never scratchy or irritating.
When it comes to washing the brush, I use some brush spray and brush shampoo from Sephora which has worked very well. The brush comes up really clean and still looks good as new after being used daily for months and regularly washed. All makeup build up comes out of it and it has not become stained from regular use.
This brush costs £22.50 which is fairly expensive, but I do think it is worth it. I didn't pay anything like that much as I bought a big Laura Mercier set for about $60, but if I ever lose this or somehow break it I think I would have to go and buy a replacement. It is essential in my makeup routine now and I really like this brush!
