*Why I want the product*
Since I have been using a serum to help with my dark under eye circles, which I believe has helped but unfortunately it hasn't took them away completely and do always come back unless I keep on top with the application.
I am always looking out for the perfect concealer or a corrector to help me disguise my circles further and make me look wide awake, which at the moment is a job and half.
Looking in glossy magazines, music videos, TV etc all the actors, especially the women have perfect skin with no dark circles in sight, obviously this is not natural as we are lead to believe and a great deal of makeup is needed to achieve the absolute flawless finish we all crave for.
This is when I came across under eye correctors, it has been said to use a salmon shade corrector to counteract pink and purple circles, which you apply first before your usual concealer for a more wide awake look.
*About the product*
Laura Mercier Under Eye Perfecter comes in two shades, mauve/rose, this shade is used for fair to medium skin tones and orange/yellow, which is used for olive to deep skin tones to cancel out purple/grey dark circles.
Laura Mercier say this corrector is a unique lightweight emollient designed to conceal heavy dark circles, give you the most wide awake look with complete coverage that lasts all day without creasing or settling into fine lines. As it has been designed for dark circles this product is not designed or any other part of the body.
This product comes in a circular plastic pot that holds 1.7g of product, the pot itself looks expensive that is dark purple in colour that looks almost black with tiny pink speckles. The side of the lid you will see Laura Mercier in silver writing, underneath the pot the sticker tells you what shade you have purchased and that the product will last 18 months once opened.
*How to apply the product?*
Laura states the best way to apply her Under Eye Perfecter is to apply your foundation first, using a concealer brush apply a thin layer to the darker part of your circles and using your ring finger gently pat into the skin. Then apply your usual concealer and watch your eyes come alive.
*Appearance of the product*
Although I knew the shade I chosen was mauve/rose I didn't expect it to be so pigmented and so bright, I have to say I was a little scared to apply it to my under eyes as anything that is so bright and deep red in colour can make you look more tired with conjunctivitis than wide awake but I was willing to give it ago and see for myself.
I first swatched the colour on my wrist to see what it is like and although the colour is a little daring when I came to rub it off most of it came off but it was like a stain on my wrist and I was left with a red 'stain' where I applied it.
*Applying Under Eye Perfecter*
I was expecting the product to be creamier since it is going underneath your delicate eye area but instead I found it to be the right texture that is creamy while clinging onto the skin instead of sliding off through the day without pulling your under eye in order to apply it properly.
The first time I tried this product I did it all wrong, I applied too much, in the wrong areas such as all over my under eye area like you would a creamy concealer and although it was a light coverage I applied, it just wouldn't blend seamlessly into my skin leaving me with red under eyes that looked tired as if I had been crying all night with an eye infection. Applying a concealer over the top in thinking it would make all the difference was also a wrong idea, the corrector showed through my concealer, my under eye makeup looked thick and cakey, and in the end I removed it all and applied just a concealer feeling much happier while thinking have I made a wrong purchase?
Next time applying I decided to apply it with a much lighter hand, applying my foundation first as directed by Laura Mercier and then her Under Eye Perfecter, taking my concealer brush and taking such a small amount of the product and lightly sweeping it over my under eye area but only where I am dark, which is the inner corner of my eye and the darkest part of my under eye circle. Blending Eye Perfecter into my skin by light tapping movements with my ring finger I can now see it almost disappearing and taking my dark circles with it.
As the product is dark red in colour and I am fair I can still see the product so a concealer over the top is needed. I am glad to say less concealer is needed to cover the circles, which means you will save money as you're using less and Laura Mercier product is working harder for you. I was left with natural looking eyes instead of dark circles looking back at me.
*How does it feel on my skin?*
Because you are applying so little of this product it is hard to tell you have it on as it feels so lightweight and glides on with ease as the consistency is creamy, although it doesn't look this way in the pot.
Even though this product was applied on top of my foundation I am surprised and happy to say it stayed on all day, never once smudged and because my concealer was over the corrector this helped it stay on all day as well without any creasing.
Since then I have applied this product everyday underneath my trusty concealers and have not even made a slight dent in the product due to using so little.
If you have really stubborn or even unsightly dark circles that concealer just doesn't cut it, I would certainly recommended this product to you.
I have never had any irritation with this product but you do have to make sure you're under eye is properly moisturised as dry patches will show up more making application difficult.

*Would I purchase again*
I can honestly say I don't think I will be buying another one as I can see this product lasting me a very long time, even though it says 18 months once opened as long as the lid is on tightly so no air is trapped inside I can see it lasting a lot longer, so price wise this is very economical product that is worth the initial price.
