ChapStick Lip Balm Cherry
by emmad5689
I always get sore lips in winter and worse when they start cracking I can't help but bite them meaning I make them worse, I always have a lip balm on the go as even when it isn't winter months I often find the heat at work causes mu lips to dry out. I bought this lip balm when in Asda doing my weekly shop, it cost me £1.12 which I think ... is about a normal price and there were a couple of different flavours available.
The lip balm comes in a plastic tube with a push on plastic top on it, the plastic tube is wrapped in a bright pink plastic covering which is perforated at the top so that you can just remove the plastic from the lid area or you can choose to remove the whole thing. The bottom of the tube twists just like the bottom of a lipstick to raise the lip balm inside, the label states on it chapstick and the flavour then on the back you have the ingredients in tiny writing.
When you open the tube you can instantly smell the lip balm, it smells very sweet and really fruity and due to the smell when it is on your lips it is very tempting to lick it off unfortunately it doesn't taste as it smells. The lip balm is bright pink in colour just the same as the tube it comes in.
The lip balm is very easy to apply and you just apply the same way as a lipstick, the lip balm actually gives a slight bit of colour to your lips too which is a nice extra. The lip balm goes on smoothly and it isn't at all sticky which is good, the lip balm really does leave your lips feeling moisturised and best of all it prevents me from biting my lips. I would rate this a 5 star product as it is a decent price, works well, easy to use and ideal to pop in your pocket which is what I do at work. Read the complete review |

Nivea Essential Lip Balm
by upsy
I always suffer from dry lips, and they tend to get even worse during the winter. I saw this Nivea lip balm on offer for £1 months ago and thought I would give it a go. I have often seen this lip balm on offer in various shops and supermarkets for £1, which I think is a great price. At full price it is often around the £1.50 mark. ...
The lip balm is white in colour and unfragranced, and it comes in a white case with a blue lid, and there is 4.8g worth of product. The product is used in a similar way to a lipstick, as you simply take off the lid and twist the bottom of the stick. Once used, you just twist the bottom of the stick the other way, and the lip balm disappears back into its container. I often use Vaseline as well as this lip balm, however an advantage of using a lip balm such as this rather than Vaseline is that you don't have to get any of the product onto your hands, which is very useful if you don't want greasy hands. The benefit of not having to touch the lip balm is that you can keep the outside of the packaging clean, whereas closing a tin of Vaseline with greasy hands then results in the tin being greasy, which then means a greasy tin passing that grease onto the contents of my handbag! The small size of this lip balm means that it's great to carry around with you, although I make sure I keep it in a pocket in my handbag, as otherwise it takes me forever to find it in that bottomless pit!
The packaging claims that the lip balm contains jojoba oil and shea butter and that it 'provides long lasting care and protection'. I like the appearance of the lip balm on my lips, as it is rather discreet. I would like it if it gave my lips a little bit more of a shine, but I understand that it's only designed to protect my lips and I can imagine other people wouldn't want it to make their lips shiny, and so I do appreciate the simplicity of this product. I find that it does help to moisturise my lips, and an hour or so after applying it, my lips feel nice and soft. I have also found that some of the product does remain on my lips after drinking and eating, which I think is more than can be said for other lip balms. I usually use this lip balm at least once a day and it still lasts for ages.
Overall, I think that this lip balm does help to moisturise and protect my lips, it's very easy to apply and it's great for a change from Vaseline where I always end up with greasy fingers! Read the complete review |

Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm
by haybel19
I suffer from dry sore lips, especially in winter and love lip balm- I'm always trying different ones. The latest edition to my handbag being the Palmers Cocoa Butter formula lip balm. It is widely available in shops and online and costs around £2 and is SPF15.
It comes in a stick style packaging where you remove the lid and ... twist to get the product out - much the same as lipstick packaging and applied in the same way. It does have a thicker consistency than some lip balms but does not feel heavy once applied and is not sticky. It does not have a smell or taste but does feel really lovely on my lips. I like that it is applied like a lipstick as it saves you getting it on your fingers like you do when using pots.
This lip balm is supposed to "help prevent and protect chapped, cracked or wind-burned lips". I like to use it to help prevent sore lips, but also to soothe my lips when they are sore. It feels lovely on my lips, instantly soothing, and making them feel very soft and moisturised and this does last for quite a while, giving my lips a clear sheen. But I do find it needs to applied more frequently than some of my other lip balms.
As you only need a small amount for each application it does last a long time, even with regular application throughout the day. Read the complete review |
