Advantages: The box it comes in is pretty!
Disadvantages: Doesn't give a great finish
Bebe lip gloss
I adore B's products, some are not always what you want but they do make you feel sexy! B produce a wide range of products mainly with a "boudoir" theme to them. Their containers and gift boxes are all oozing with sex appeal. Everytime I go on their website I find a new product which I just have to have! I'm a girl of many lipglosses and they fill my bag of all different shades, textures and scents!
My new victime of choice was Bebe Lip Gloss. I bought it online instead of going to a store as it's just far easier. The picture of Bebe on the website is beautiful. The lipgloss is encased in a jewelled box and looks very royal. I think in all truth I wanted the gorgeous box rather than the lipgloss! Unfortunately the one downside to Bebe is the discription on B's website is about three words "clear and glossy", so it's down to your own sense of smell to figure out what it's like!
With a sophisticated subtle rose fragrance and flavour, Bebe is a light gloss containing tiny flecks of golden pink glitter to give either natural or coloured lips a subtle touch of shimmer. But though B refers to its colouring as "clear and glossy," it's actually yellowed white and glossy and that can be clearly seen in the picture (however, when you have a certain volume of something the colour often darkens). And unless applied sparingly and vigorously blended into the lips with a brush to increasingly become clear, this colour has a tendency to wash out one's features. (And very few people I know, no matter their complexion, want yellow tinted lips.) Now to me this is not a "clear" lipgloss, not even close.
This becomes a problem when applying it over another lip colour to add gloss and shimmer as suggested by B; all the required blending to rid yourself of its yellowed hue inevitably removes some of your base colour. Hence, unless you're actually aiming to tone down a boldly coloured lipstick, I would recommend wearing Bebe on its own, thoroughly blended to a barely there appearance with just a hint of shimmer for a more natural, modern look suitable for both day and night that also serves as a compliment to sheer glittering looks. But a lipgloss should not be such hard work, they should just glide on and give a lovely effect. You shouldn't need to rub it in until it pretty mush dissolves.
Anoter downside is the packaging. Yes the little box is absolutely beautiful but is completely inpractical. The lids always end up falling off, which makes this a stationary lipgloss as if you put it in your bag you will no doubt end up with a sticky mess at the bottom of your bag. However much you love this jewelled pot the fact that you can't take it out with you is a really bad point.
In fact, my Bebe happened to arrive in B's mail order box with its lid already astray, the pot tumbling out to land face down on my carpet, which was a lovely treat, I must say. Nothing makes a mouth happier than a handful of carpet fibres. On the bright side, at least my wool coated lips will be kept warm this winter.
For £7.35 you will get a jewelled box of not so great lipgloss. Apart from the stunning box it comes in, its not practical and really quite a waste of money. You can get better results from a tin of vaseline!!
Summary: You will be better off buying a tin of vaseline
