      Lovely eyeshadow from Lush

My favourite store, Lush, recently introduced a new makeup line into stores. Called Emotional Brilliance, it was designed to promote certain feelings and emotions. The idea is that you spin a colour wheel and choose the three colours that stand out for you most. I was initially dubious about this idea, as I prefer to choose my makeup based on which colours suit me. I was also unsure whether a shop known for bath products and soap could really produce a successful makeup line. However, after trying a couple of lipsticks I received for free and really liking them, I decided to give a couple of other products a go.

My chance came after Christmas when items produced before a certain date were reduced to half price. This lowered the price of the lip and eye products from £14.50 to a more manageable £7.25. I picked up the 'Sophisticated' eyeshadow colour.

This is a wearable taupe shade, suitable for vegans and made with a base of rose petal infusion and almond and jojoba oils. Glycerine is also added to help make it easier to apply.

It comes in an apothecary-like bottle with an applicator (a bit like a lip gloss or cream eyeshadow applicator), made of glass with a black plastic top. You can clearly see the colour inside and how much you have left. The eyeshadow bottles are identical to the lip colour bottles - the only difference is the actual colour inside.

The colour 'Sophisticated' is a shimmery light brown. The colour and the texture remind me strongly of the Urban Decay 'Sin' eyeshadow primer potion - the shades are slightly different but very similar. It is an easy-to-wear colour that would suit all ages and (I think) all skin tones too. Because of its neutrality it would be good to use during the day, but it could also be used in the evening, particularly alongside a bright lipstick.

The eyeshadow is very gentle on my skin and doesn't cause any irritation. It is applied easily with the included applicator, and surprisingly for a cream eyeshadow, it doesn't crease - it dries really quickly. I love the colour, which adds a hint of shimmer to lids. The eyeshadow lasts for several hours without needing a touch up, which I found really impressive

Overall, I really liked this eyeshadow and when it gets used up I would like to repurchase.

A great eye colour from Lush

      Lush SOPHISTICATED Liquid Eyeshadow

During last year lush introduced their Emotional Brilliance range of cosmetics which was big step for them as previously they have only created toiletries and perfumes and not any make up. The Emotional Brilliance range is supposed to be chosen by a spinning colour reel and then the three colours you choose reflect the three different aspects of your personality.

I did the spinning thing in the shop and bought one of those I chose but the others I have bought simply because I like the colours and think they will blend with others I have. This was one of the colours that I chose in my spinning game and I actually bought this one in the shop there and then as I loved it.

If you choose this colour first then you choose it as your strength or weakness:
"How fabulous! SOPHISTICATED is not only about a look but also an outlook that comes from experience. So use your SOPHISTICATED outlook to give answers to yourself and to others. Look and feel SOPHISTICATED wearing this beautiful eyeliner."

If you choose it second then you are choosing it as your subconscious need:
"Could "whatever" become your catch phrase? Stop it now! Show some sophistication; think more about how you appear to the world and how you present your thoughts. Find your style again."

If chosen third then you have chosen it as your aspiration or talent:
"Some of us aspire to be SOPHISTICATED, whilst it would seem that others just are. You have a style and it's yours so enjoy it. Being SOPHISTICATED is a collection of many things. You have a head start, and by wearing this colour you get even more of an edge."

The little bottles all look the same like eye dropper bottles but they have different applicators inside. Some have thin brushes like an eye line and others have a sponge applicator a bit like an eye shadow one. The eye liner colours are the darker ones although I do have a bright green one with a thin brush. The lipstick and other colours have the sponge applicators. Lush do have other throw away applicators of all types so you could ask for a few of these to use the colours differently if you wanted to try them.

This is sold as an liquid eye shadow and is a gorgeous sort of taupe colour.. It comes with the spongy eye shadow type of applicator. Lush's eye colour range are a special unique recipe with a great softening rose petal infusion and skin softening almond and jojoba oil as well as glycerine to help it blend easily without drawing at all on the eye lid as you blend . These ingredients are great as they are intensely skin-softening and soothing but apparently they also hold the colour pigment really well.

This eye colour has great staying power and feels great when applied and is colour that is not only great when applied neat closely to the eye lid but also blends to a lovely subtle colour up nearer the eye.
Once applied I find this lasts for the day and I never need to re apply as it stays just as I apply it and gives a really lasting deep colour. I don't have to choose what I wear this with as it is a neutral colour and can go with any outfits and it also depends on where I am going too as to how much colour I put on. This colour is agreat day coloure as it is not too 'in your face'.

I find that this is easy to remove using ultrabland from Lush. I just gently apply Ultrabland to my eyes and massage it a bit then using a face cloth and warm water I wipe all my face and ant makeup comes off gently and easily.

I always use this as a eye colour and find that it gives a perfect colour for both solid colour and blending depending on how dark a colour I want to achieve. I find it leaves my eye lids feeling perfectly softr and feeling as though I have nothing on them.

There are lots of lovely oils and waxes such as jojoba oil, cadililla wax and rose petal infusion, talc, glycerine almond oil, jojoba oil and this does have Methylparabenand , Propylparaben presumably for preservatives.

Being a Lush product it is only available through their shops and their website although Ebay is always an option.

The little bottle costs the same as all the Emotional Brilliance products except 'Eyes Right' and the pots and they are all £14.50 which seems a lot but they last ages and are so versatile that I have become hooked.

In the little bottle you get 5g of product and that seems more than most liquid eye shadows and I don't know of any others that can blend from solid colour through to subtle and gentle one quite so easily.

Initially I thought these were expensive and only bought the mascara as it was the cheapest option. Since then I have managed to accumulate about seven different colours. I have been happy with most of them and this is one of my favourites and the eye colour I use most often as it works well both as a solid neat colour and also as a more subtle blended one.
