Advantages: good variety and nice colours with matte and pearl finishes

Disadvantages: quite hard to apply and are not smudge proof

MAC eye kohl come in 13 different shades and cost £11.00. They come in pearl and matte finishes and cover pretty much any colour one would be looking for. They can be used to line, shade or smudge to give a smoky look and are ophthalmologist tested.

I bought one of these eye kohl pencils because it was in a particular colour I didn't have before. When the MAC make up artist applied it, it looked quite nice on so I was convinced that this was the kohl I'd been missing out on.

When I tried to recreate the look at home, however, I didn't find that it quite worked as well; it didn't apply as smoothly and I felt that it was pulling the skin on my lid a bit. As the day went on, I also noticed that it looked too smudged and the top liner on my eye lid actually melted over onto the higher area of my eye lid. This did not look flattering at all.

I tried it again, this time with an eye liner base but I still find that it doesn't stay budge proof so I was pretty disappointed. I haven't really bothered to use it anymore lately and have opted for a different brand that is smoother and softer to apply and won't smudge or budge at all.

I guess it depends and varies from person to person but in my opinion, these eye kohl don't quite make it onto my make up must have list. This is one MAC product I'm disappointed in.

Summary: its an ok kohl but i need something that will stay put
