Advantages: Vast range of colours, easy to apply, long lasting, true colour representation

Disadvantages: Price - but worth it!

I first came across MAC Eyeshadows quite a few years ago while I was at a counter getting a whole face make-up look for my Winter Formal. The assistant used 'Bisque' (a beige) all over the lid as a neutral base to make the light green liner ('So There Jade' Powerpoint Eye Pencil) stand out. I was hooked straight away.

Online and in stores MAC Eyeshadows come in a wide variety of colours and finishes, from bright mattes to subtle satins, to create any look for day or night. The best thing about these highly-pigmented powder shadows is that the colour seen in the pot transfers well when applied to the eye area - too often have I been left disappointed after buying bright shadows from other brands which have looked pale and dull - nothing like the colour in the pot suggests - once applied. With MAC this is not a worry in the slightest.

The powder is very easy to apply, I recommend using a series of different shaped eye shadow brushes depending on where you want to apply the product (a larger flat brush would be suitable for applying colour all over the lid, while a smaller brush with a tapered edge would be best for applying the product to the crease, and a small stiff brush is recommended if you want to use the colour as an eye liner). The colour applies evenly without blotching or creasing, and there is very little fall-out compared to other brands, which can be difficult to remove from the face without removing the foundation that has already been applied. The product is also extremely long-lasting in comparison to other brands, with little smudging or need for touch-ups after several hours wear. This makes MAC Eyeshadows perfect for night-time looks, when you want high-impact colours without it slipping off.

There is 1.5g of eyeshadow in each little black plastic pot, which has a clear acrylic window in the flip-up lid, allowing you to see the colour well. These are packaged in small black cardboard boxes with a circular hole in the top - again to allow you to see the colour you are purchasing - and cost £11. MAC also now sell Pro Palettes (£4.50/£10), compact palettes which can house either 4 or 15 different refill pans - handy for keeping the combination of shades you use most in one place. The refill pans also contain 1.5g of product, however they come at the cheaper price of £8.50 per refill, which may prove more cost effective.

I would definitely recommend anyone this product, they are the best eyeshadows I have yet to come across and are worth every penny!

Summary: Amazing.
