Advantages: Quality, lasting power, well pigmented, range of colours

Disadvantages: None

MAC is my all time favourite brand of cosmetics and I absolutely love their eye shadows. They're quite expensive at £12.00 per 1.5 gram compact but the quality is worth every penny.

I have built up my collection over the period of around two years and I usually treat my self to one (or maybe two!) once every couple of months or whenever I feel like I deserve a little treat. While I have come across some cheaper dupes which are similar in quality I have never come across any brand of eyeshadow that matches the quality or is higher quality. I would rather pay a bit extra for one highly pigmented, good quality eyeshadow rather than waste my money on several cheap and nasty ones.

I would rather buy a MAC branded eyeshadow oppose to a dupe because the difference in quality is noticeable - plus I absolutely love the packaging that the MAC eyeshadows come in. A majority of mine are in compacts but they are also available in refill form for pallettes. These are £2.00 cheaper for the same amount of product and I have recently started filling my palette that I recieved as a birthday present a couple of months ago. I've got the pro palette which is able to hold fifteen eye shadows and I currently have three refills in it and the rest of my eyeshadows are compacts - I currently have eleven in various shades including charcoal grey, light blue, dark brown and so on.

About 90 percent of the shades that I have are quite dark and basic but there are brighter colours available including pink, yellow, purple, green - there really is something for everyone and I love that there are different shades of each colour eg dark pink, light pink etc and it's really fun to experiment with different colours. There are matt versions and pearly versions and there's even quite a few shades that have glitter in them. If you are new to MAC and want an eyeshadow I would recommend buying it in store rather than via the website as that way you will be able to swatch and see which colour is best for you.

The colour choice is a little overwhelming at first and although some of the eyeshadows look the same colour as each other in the compacts/palettes you will be able to see the difference upon swatching them. All of the MAC eyeliners have got the same gorgeous, silky feel to them and the pigmentation is amazing. The eyeshadow is easy to apply and it doesn't crease, smudge or transfer from my eyelid to the area under my brow bone. I use the 239 brush to pack it on and then the 217 brush to blend it out if I'm going for a smokey eye look. It stays in place with no flaking at all - primer is obviously a must have though and I always apply it before I apply my eyeshadow as it helps it to last longer and ensures a flawless, smooth finish.

The eyeliner looks good quality and glamorous when I'm wearing it and the range of different shades are all suitable for different ocassions. I usually wear 'orb' (a gorgeous peachy shade), 'mulch' (a pearly reddish-brown) or 'miss piggy pink' during the day as these are subtle but really make a difference to my overall look. Even if I just wear this with foundation and a bit of mascara it makes it look like I've made more of an effort while still looking reasonably natural and simple. On nights out I will wear either the black (typographic), shimmery silver (electra), charcoal grey (scene) or a slightly brighter shade such as blue or purple. During the day this will last for a good eight hours or so and if I'm wearing it to go clubbing the lasting power is just as good even if I'm slightly sweaty from dancing around like a lunatic!! It doesn't melt off of my skin like some cheap eyeshadows can do.

Overall, I recommend this eyeshadow. The quality, pigmentation and lasting power are amazing and the colour range is huge! While £12.00 does seem quite expensive for an eyeshadow, I assure you that it is worth it! Five out of five stars.
