Although I am a big fan of MAC cosmetics, particularly the colours in their lipstick palettes, I wasn't crazy about the texture of this lip liner. I found it to be a bit hard to apply. The colour may stay in place, but at the same time it is very common that your lipstick runs out before the lip pencil and you end up with a darker line around your lips and no lipstick! Unfortunately I tend to loose my lipstick very quickly so if this is your case too, you might need to check regularly that both lip liner and lip colour are still in place.
Sharpening make up pencils is tricky but I must admit that this one passed the test. It was better than with most lip pencils where you have to try several times and waste a lot in order to get a nice sharp end.
As I mentioned before, MAC palettes are really good and of course if you find one colour that you like a lot, it's worth stocking both pencil and lipstick. My favourite continues to be Lustre.
I purchased my first MAC lip pencil a few months ago, in the shade "Redd". I've always loved MAC lipsicks; Ruby Woo, Rebel, Riri Woo, Up The Amp, Candy Yum Yum are some of my favourites. I instantly fell in love with the pencil upon application - they're very easy to apply, and the colours are very opaque. The most important quality of a lip pencil is longevity - these lip liners stay on really well - they make the lipstick applied over them last really well too. MAC lip liners come in a tonne of colours, so it's not difficult to find exactly what you're looking for. The price isn't cheap but you get what you pay for! I've since bought another lip liner in the shade "Magenta" and the quality is the same. The packaging makes it easy to see which colour it is, as the colour is on the end of the pencil.
i love this lip pencil. I have 6 to 9 shades. This pencil finely shaping, lining and filling your lips. Its have very good creamy texture which make your lips soft and smooth. Not just lining you can filling your lips with this pencil. No needs to use lipstick. its have 28 to 30 different shades with so many selective colors. This is along lasting lip liner.
I have a very good tip for you. Usually I filling my lips with this pencil and after that I use a little bit gloss on it and its my everyday use.It will never dry your lips. And the verity of shades can nicely match with your skin tone.As because of this pencil protected with vitamin E, its take good care of your lips. I used so many verity of lip liner earlier but after use this product I just love it. And it will become my daily use product.
I own this pencil in Dervish (a dull pink with plum tones) and have to say I couldn't really ask more in a lip pencil. The formula is creamy so it's not to harsh or drying, but it is still 'hard' enough to define it as a pencil. The product also has excellent pigmentation meaning you don't need to line or colour your lips to harshly to get the colour you want, however you will find the need to sharpen quite a bit meaning you loose a fair amount of product, but then agin with the pencil being so large it's not really a problem. I don't remember how much I bought this product for, however according to dooyoo you can get if for £7.50!!!! As you can wear alone, with lipstick/gloss or clear balm this is an absolute bargain!!!!!! You can create a lot of different looks with this one pencil which defiantly make it worth the money to buy a few for total versatility. If I could change one thing it would be the packaging, it really isn't anything special but I suppose it keeps the cost down.
WHAT IS IT?
A lip lining pencil from MAC.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
You use this lip pencil to line your lips before applying lipstick. You can use it to fill in your lip colour also and it lasts for a longer time that most lipsticks.
This lip pencil is a standard length but the colour is very creamy so I have to sharpen it a lot more often than any of my other lip lining pencils. If you apply this when it is not sharp then you will not be able to form a tidy line and it will be obvious that your lips look messed up when you apply your lipstick.
WHAT I THINK
This is my favourite lip pencil because it is very smooth to apply and I can follow the line of my lips very easily. When I have sharpened it the point is easy to handle for me and even when I am outlining the bow of my lips I do not ever make a mess. The MAC lip pencil I am using today is called Just Wonderful and it is bright pink but I have got one that is red also, I do not use that one so much because it does not match very many of my lipsticks.
I like that the pencil marks do not fade on my skin but with this lip pencil you have to watch out that your lipstick does not fade quicker than the lipliner because I do not think that is a very attractive look. As long as you are careful to reapply your lipstick before it fades off then you will be ok. I like how long lasting it is when I use the lip pencil to fill my colour in complete and sometimes I fill in my colour and then apply my lipstick over the top and it acts like a primer and keeps my lipstick on for a lot longer, if I use lipstick that matches the shade of my lip pencil then it does not matter if it wears off because the colour will be underneath anyway.
This lip pencil costs £7 and that is value because it is a good pencil with a good range of shades, the pencil has to be sharpened very often so it has to be replaced quite a lot.
5 Dooyoo Stars.
I recently brought this lip liner in the colour Brick and it really is greatit stays put all dayI used it with Mac ruby and it really does look good can be used with most red lipsticksIt applies very creamy and can also be used all over the lip to make the lipstick last longerThe lip liners can only be used alone for a matt effectThe colour of the liner is protected by vitamin E
I don't own a huge amount of lip pencils but I went for this in the shade 'Spice' after seeing it in a magazine. I usually wear it with my Mac lipstick in the shade 'Faux' as the two really compliment each other well.
Mac is available obviously in the Mac stores, in some department stores and also online. There website is one of my favourites for make-up shopping as the swatches are very clear as are the descriptions.
* A pencil designed for shaping, lining or filling in the lip
* Lip Pencils have a smooth, creamy texture that is perfect for lining the lips or filling them in.
* The colour of Lip Pencils is protected by Vitamin E, which acts as an anti-oxidant
One thing I've noticed with lip liners in the past is some are very hard and tend to drag the lips when you apply them. The end result being a really harsh drawn on line that doesn't blend nicely with your chosen shade of lipstick. I think it was once fashionable for your lip liner to be very noticable but not so much anymore. The texture of this lip liner is creamy and soft so during application the colour glides on smoothly. The liner stays on very well and helps to prevent your lipstick bleeding, very important especially when wearing very vibrant shades.
The pencil is available in 33 shades which is very impressive, the colours range from very natural to very bright so there should be something for everybody.
The pencil is very basic, it's black with a black lid. It does have a coloured band around the bottom showing you which shade it is, I find this very helpful when I'm rushing around in the morning.
VALUE FOR MONEY:
The price of the pencil is £11.50, I've had mine for ages and still have a lot left so I'm pleased with the value for money. The quality is excellent and I will definately be repurchasing.
I always find myself reaching for this lip pencil instead of actual lipstick whenever I am doing a bright red lip because I find that the finish is always neater and it lasts a lot longer. I sometimes use it as a 'base' under my lipstick too by filling my lips in with the pencil then applying my lipstick as that way if my lipstick wears away I will not be left with patchy looking lips. I have this lip pencil in cherry which is a beautiful shade of bright red and colour wise it looks a lot like the MAC ruby woo lipstick.
The MAC lip pencils are also available in about 20 other shades too including black, brown, purple, orange etc so there is plenty of choice. The lip pencil is a little longer and thinner than any of my other lip liners and it is a matte black colour with a lid and a coloured end on it which shows the shade of the pencil (mine has a red end). The lid is easy to pull off and it stays on the pencil securely which is good because I don't want the nib getting squashed and it also keeps it hygienic and fresh.
When I first got this lip pencil it came in a sleek, black good quality cardboard MAC box which made it feel extra special and expensive but I didn't see the point in keeping the box and it fits fine in my make-up bag with my other make-up pencils. The nib of the pencil is bright red - it's really pigmented and the colour transfers onto my lips perfectly, the colour pay off is amazing! The nib is soft but not so soft that it feels fragile or like it might break/snap but I did need to wear it down very slightly by rubbing it against some paper when I first got it as it was pointed so too accurate for the purpose I wanted it for, once I'd made it a bit blunter it was still accurate enough to line my lips but I was also able to fill my lips in quickly and neatly.
The pencil doesn't glide over my lips or anything, it does drag very slightly but it isn't painful or anything because the texture is nice and creamy and smooth rather than hard and waxy. Worn on its own it does highlight cracks in my lips so its important to use a lip scrub and moisturise them first before I use it as this makes them nice and smooth so the finish is always nice and neat. It has a matte finish which can look drying even though it doesn't feel drying but a little clear lip gloss or a bit of Vaseline over the top soon solves this problem. The lip pencil isn't drying and I think this is partly down to the formula which contains vitamin E. I wouldn't go as far as saying it is moisturising because it definitely isn't but it isn't drying.
As for the lasting power this is amazing, it stays in place for hours and hours and does not smudge easily or transfer onto glasses etc when I am drinking/eating and there have been times when I'e come home and gone to bed without make up on and the next day when I wake up my lips are still bright red and not at all patchy or anything, which I think is amazing and this is why I think it's worth paying that bit more for such a good quality product! Mine is barely worn down and I have had it for over a year which for around £13 is amazing value in my opinion. I definitely recommend the MAC lip pencils and I really want to try some more shades out! Five out of five stars.
Mac is a company that have originated in Canada. MAC does not test on animals. They do not provide a budget range of lip liners. If you purchase a MAC lip pencil, I'd say that is a treat luxury lip liner, it costs £11.50. It is available directly from MAC online and also in department stores that have a MAC counter. My MAC lip pencil was given to me as a birthday present.
There are a whopping forty colours to choose from, and also extra special editions, that come out from time to time for a limited period. The colour range starts from a stone colour, which is much too light for me, to a shocking pink, which I think is a bit too outlandish to wear! My colour is 'Beet' which works well with red lippy and purples, think of beetroot and you'll conjure up the colour of this pencil in your mind' eye.
The thin, black pencil shows the colour on top and tail. This is handy for when quickly selecting colours out of the make-up drawer. Please, be aware that if the colour top doesn't match the tip you have a fake.
I discovered the colour to be surprisingly well pigmented which means I can avoid spending time building up colour. It doesn't need to be worn with lipstick but I have used non MAC lipstick products and they have teamed up very well.
I find the thinness of the stick makes it easy to hold and this enables me to use the liner with reasonable control. In other words I can follow the lip liner and corners of my lips without veering off course onto my cheeks or chin!
The lip liner gives good definition for shaping the lips. This is an essential quality for any lip pencil as definition is one of the main reasons for use. I have used it with lipstick, gloss, and on its own and find that the lip liner always provides the required definition.
The second purpose for a lip pencil is to fill the lips. It looks pretty and last for hours but I'm afraid there is a catch and that is it dries out the lips. I do suffer with dry lips so maybe this won't be an issue for others. I have to put a balm on underneath but have yet to find the perfect balm to help. So despite the added vitamin E, provided in the actual pencil, it does not work for me when used as lip filler. However, the vitamin E does feel smooth during, and immediately after, application.
Ultimately, MAC lip pencil does well as a liner but less well as for colour filling the lips due to the side effect of dry lips. With the use of a good lip balm this might be less of an issue.
There is one other strike against the lip pencil. I find I have to sharpen it a little more often than I would like. As much as I sharpen it never attains the same level of sharpness as when new. I think the cost might not be justified if you are looking for value for money so for these reasons I give it four instead of five stars.
I paid £11.50 for this product in House of Fraser and this would appear to be the standard price as it was the same in Selfridges when I was in there the other day. There are a number of different colours available to match your lipstick and I have a rather nice bold pink colour. In addition I also have a nice subtle peach one as well however it the pink one that is my favourite.
They are both black coloured pencils with a coloured band at the top so you can easily tell which is which without having to dig them out to check out the nib. They are nice and thin to hold and really easy to use and also because they are so thin they are also very accurate to apply.
I have found my lip liner is excellent at giving my lips a nice bit of definition and also to fill in and shape the look of my lips. The extra bit of colour helps to add shape to my lips and helps to draw attention to them without being garish and making me look like a vamp. The texture of the pencil is just about perfect, it is not overly sharp and solid instead it is smooth to apply and it delivers an even amount of colour without the need to press too hard at all. It has a creamy soft texture yet still manages to be quite fine when you apply it.
The liner is very easy to remove at the end of the day and to be honest there is nothing to fault with this good quality product that is well worth the money and gets five stars from me.
