Advantages: Gloss and color LAST; decent shade selection; no bad taste and smell

Disadvantages: NONE! You can't use the words "con" and "lipglass" in the same sentence!

For quite a while, I resisted the MAC brand. First, the packaging looked boring to me. Second, the products looked funky. Third, they intimidated me! About 3 months ago I finally went to purchase my first Lipglass and not only didn't "click" with the sales assistant at Harvey Knichols who was helping me (I hated her!), but I didn't see a shade I thought I liked. Fast forward two months. I went to the MAC counter at selfrigdes this time. And there was the sales associate of my dreams - and she recommended the Lipglass color of my dreams! I was in love from the first swipe of the fuzzy-tipped applicator.

*Product Details*:

Lipglass is marketed as a "tinted" gloss. My shade, as well as many of the other shades I sampled at the MAC counter, are not tints. They are more of a gloss with lots of pigment. Not really a "liquid lipstick" type of density, though.

Lipglass comes in a clear plastic tube that measures just under 3.5" long. This is nearly half tube and half cap. The cap is black plastic, is attached to a fuzzy-tipped wand applicator and just screws off and on. This tube comes in an understated, serious black box that makes you appreciate the MAC name even more.

There is .17 oz. of gloss in each tube.

Ingredients (taken from packaging):

Hydrogenated polyisobutene, jojoba oil, octyldodecanol, carnauba wax, tocopheryl acetate, propylene carbonate, quaternium-18 hectorite, silica, flavour (aroma), isopropylparaben, butylparaben, isobutylparaben. May Contain: Mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxides, blue 1 lake, carmine, red 6, red 7 lake, red 30 lake, yellow 10 lake.

My Experience:

I have truly died and went to heaven. I'm blown away by this gloss! I want to give it 25 stars instead of just 5...

The shade I ended up with is Lovechild. This is a medium, shimmery plum color with a plummy shimmer. It's more of a cool shade as opposed to a warm shade, and goes perfectly with my pale skin, dark hair and hazel eyes. I first applied my new Lipglass on a hot, humid day. I was thinking I was making a mistake - I didn't want my new gloss to melt and fade away quickly - which I figured it would most likely do on a hot, nasty day. Also upon first application, I was happy that this gloss has a fuzzy-tipped wand applicator and not a brush applicator. I always prefer the fuzzy-tipped wand applicators for control and precision purposes.

The Lipglass applied quickly and effortlessly and just glided right onto my lips. It's not grainy despite being shimmery. The shimmer is not over-powering. It's just the right amount to add some shimmer but is not glittery or garish.

Lipglass is a bit sticky. But it's not the stickiest lip gloss I've ever used, and it's certainly not annoyingly sticky. I will compromise and call it "the right amount of stickiness"...at least for me anyway.

The true treat while wearing Lipglass is how long it lasts. This stuff lasts so long that you will actually have to remove it yourself if you want it off! I don't always like to eat or drink while I have lip gloss on - but it's so rare that I have a gloss that lasts longer than 30 minutes, I never have to worry about removing it. But when I do take Lipglass off, the color is still there. The gloss blots off fairly easily, but I still have color there along with a bit of moisture. I am happy as a clam in this regard. As for wearing it that first day on a hot, stuffy, sticky, humid Northeast Ohio day (you midwesterners know what I mean) - Lipglass held up and never budged, melted or faded.

There's no nasty taste or smell to Lipglass. It's pleasantly unflavored and unscented (at least mine is, although I see "flavour" in the ingredient listing). Thank you, MAC, for not making these fruity, vanilla-ish, or minty!

My lips feel soft, smooth and moisturized during and after wearing Lipglass. This is not a drying gloss.

Final Thoughts:

I am so in love with Lipglass. I can't even tell you how great this gloss is. This is my new holy grail gloss. I can't say too many good things about this gloss! I have 5 MAC products so far (I bought two more yesterday), and I'm going to be venturing into other MAC products very soon...but not before I buy at least two more shades of Lipglass to add to my gloss collection.

Summary: You've gota try it to love it
