Advantages: Trend Setting Brand, Good Range of Colours, Nice Finish
Disadvantages: Best using a brush to apply so you wll have to buy one
I have a bit of a MAC collection going on from visiting House of Fraser at the good old Metro to my little trips stateside. They are a brilliant company for bold and vivid colours for those wanting to make a statement. I have lots of their eye shadows and eye makeup and have also bought the occasional lipstick and foundation.
**MAC Lipstick**
MAC sells quite a few lipsticks too in many shades and varieties. These include the basic lipstick which made MAC famous, which I have, style warrior lipstick which has an iconic design on its packaging. They have a slim shine lipstick which is a creamy and shiny lipstick, Viva glam lipstick which is foxy red lipstick. Pro long wear lipstick which has a formulated colour base and a clear gloss and Pro long wear lustre lip colour which is similar to the pro long wear but is more lustrous.
The MAC lipstick comes in over 140 shades so there are tons to choose from to select your ideal colour. It is a lipstick that is used on the catwalks and by professionals so has a bit of clout in the makeup lipstick world. The MAC lipstick comes in several finishes including amplified crème, frost, glaze, and lip treatment, lustre, matte, satin and sheer. In fact the ranges and shades available remind me of selecting your own paint from B&Q as there are so many!
**My Lipstick**
I do not wear much lipstick and not in bright or bold colours either as I tend to do that with eyewear. With lip wear I wear colours not too much darker than my natural shade and tend to go for glosses I chose Verve for my lipstick which is quite a plum/chocolate colour a little darker than the usual pale chocolate to nude colours that I normally buy. I think I got the lady on the counter to help choose the colour at the time as there were far too many to choose from and they are often better at selecting the right colour. This lipstick is not too darker from my natural colour and once on it is long lasting
The lipstick comes in a small black box which I have chucked away now and is then in a black lipstick case and regardless on colour all lipsticks are in same black casing as are their products. The lipstick turns up sharply and it made well so not to break. Mine has lasted as while as I don't wear my lipsticks that much unless I am off out on a night. All black with the MAC writing on it in silver. The colour is stamped on the bottom of the case and it doesn't say what finish it is but I know mine is a matte finish as it is quite a dry lipstick.
To apply the lady recommended I use a lipstick brush and I bought one from them. (think that cost me another tenner though!) That way it gets a better coverage and more evenly spread across the lips. I don't wear a lip liner with it though you could. I do find using the brush is better than directly applying as it can be a bit dark if applied direct and it still needs blending in. Also using the brush allows you to apply less and then it lasts longer. It does feel quite dry until it is put on and the lips moisture soaks up the colour.
**Where to buy**
MAC can be bought in House of Fraser or online at http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/. Not sure where else in the UK as I just get it from Frasers though in the US they have their own MAC stores and I suspect you can buy it from Selfridges in the UK too.
**Recommend**
I would recommend this to lipstick lovers as there are over 140 shades and various finishes to choose. There are also different types of lipsticks on offer. For me this has lasted a while as I use it less often as I'm more of a gloss person so I would perhaps select one of their other lipsticks next time.
The cost is £12 and you get 3oz of lipstick for that to make you simmer on the street!!
Summary: A good and decent lipstick which comes in over 140 colours
