I adore this eye liner. It is an absolute dream and really, truly, does live up to its name.
"A rich colour liquid eye liner that combines long-lasting wear with a non-smudge, non-flake precision line. Goes on effortlessly. Applies with its own brush to draw a perfectly defined line." maccosmetics.co.uk (product description)
I own this liner in a lovely turquoise colour, and it truly is a rich and deep colour. It has a vibrant look about it, and is flecked with metallic. The liner is so easy to apply with the applicator, and I have not once made any mistake. It goes on superbly with one coat and offers full coverage on the eye with no gaps, or no patches. Although the liner does take time to dry, once it has in fact dried, is it held fast and will not smudge, crease or in any way wear off. I have actually slept in this liner once just to see how well it will stay and - believe it or not - woken with a perfect line!
A little hint: when applying do only one eye at a time. Make sure the eye is kept closed while it is drying, and when dry, and only then, open the eye to line the other (or else you will find that opening an eye with a wet line will imprint onto the top of the lid, and once dry, be near impossible to remove).
I guess the only downside I have to this product is that it works just a little too well! It is, in the make-up world, akin to the cockroaches surviving the apocalypse! Almost impossible to remove at the end of an evening, and I do find sometimes I end up with a sore eye. I find a cream remover to be the most effective, as a liquid remover I used was pretty much useless. I cannot really class this as too much of a negative though - it is only doing its job in lasting!
The tube in which the product is held is the same as the tubes for the Lipglass MAC also sell. A small cylinder with a clear body to show the product. A screw cap to which the applicator is adjoined and silver print of the words MAC and Liquidlast Liner. I think the product looks just a lovely as it feels to use.
At £14.00 for a 2.5ml tube, it may seem expensive, but personally I think MAC could charge more and it still sell. It is an amazing product and I think everyone should own one!
(I will point out that on the website the liner seems to only be available in black, but the other colours may be available in store...)
*My reviews will also appear on ciao with my same username*
My sister-in-law got me a MAC voucher to treat myself about two Christmases ago so I went to the store with the hope of finding some long-lasting makeup. I have recently written a review about the old liquid eyeliner I used (Avon) so if you find it of interest you might like to compare that to this. The MAC liquid liner is £14 and comes in black. Please note this is the Liquidlast eyeliner not just the standard eyeliner. I'm just being lazy with the typing of the name.
As per my last review about liquid eyeliner, I was keen to find an eyeliner that stayed on for a whole day at work or an evening out. The Liquidlast eyeliner from MAC does not disappoint, it lasts all day and all night and literally does not budge an inch. This obviously means you will need an oil-based cleanser to get it off, cream cleansers won't cut it at all. Something like AVON perfect wear eyemakeup remover or Lancome Bi-Facial will get it off, but as long as it is oil based it should come off. That said, it does need a mighty good rub with the cotton wool to come off which just shows how long lasting the product is.
The brush is not my favourite for an eyeliner, it is quite long and bristly whereas I prefer a felt-tip pen sort of a finish to the brush as I find sturdy and stubby liner brushes easier to apply liquid eyeliner with. This is probably not a brush for beginners and I find it tricky to get a really neat line sometimes. The liner seems to be waterproof and does not irritate my eyes or skin in any way.
I don't think that this product is too expensive considering how long-lasting it is and is much better than other similar products which are more expensive. My only complaint is the brush really so I'll mark it down one star for that. If you are looking for a long lasting liquid eyeliner, look no further. I would definitely buy this again.
Getting sick of the plain black winged eyeliner make up I was doing so often I was on the lookout for a high street eyeliner with abit of a difference.
I wanted to purchase something that lasted well and looked great! I scowered the high street high and low and nothing seemed to catch my eye. That was until however that I entered MAC.
Walking into the store I found myself instantly drawn to the liquid last eyeliners. My favourite being the shade 'Aqualine'. The turqouise colour reminded me of the ocean and had a spectacular shimmer that I was afraid was only from the shop lights.
After getting the tester out and applying some to the back of my hand I had a look around and decided to have a think about it as I saw the pricetag of £14.00 for the 2.5ml tube. I knew that I would need to convince myself that this product was worth it.
Going outside I looked at the pigmentation on the sample I had applied to my hand and saw that the sparkle was still the same, I admired the sample round the shops and over dinner and decided that I wanted to part with my £14.00 for this wonderful eyeliner.
The thin applicator brush makes the liner easy to apply to the lids and to create flicks with for a twist on the classic winged eyeliner look.
The product can take a long time to come off- after sampling it on my hand to write a fully honest review after a good five minutes of scrubbing my hand with a baby wipe the product is half removed but will take some time to fully remove!
Being a convert to MAC make up many of my Christmas and birthday presents now consist of MAC products! The eyeliner is no exception, so I have no idea of the cost, though knowing MAC it will be a little bit pricey!
Swapping from my previous Rimmel liquid eyeliner (which I have had for 5 years so probably not the best! But it was faithful) to MAC was an experience, the brush is finer and actually more like a brush than I was useful, in such a way that it bends both ways.
A little bit fiddly to get used to, I've found the best thing to do is to treat my eyelid like a painting canvas and build up to the line thickness I require.
Now the staying power is incredible, I have come in from nights out, taken off my make up using make up wipes, scrubbed my face with face wash, woke up the next morning and still had remnants' of eyeliner on, so it has led to some sore eyes from scrubbing!
I'm such a massive fan of MAC, and this eyeliner is no exception at all.
I was first drawn to it because of all the fantastic colours it comes in - I have a bright blue, lilac and dark purple, the latter being my favourite. They come in pretty much any colour for any taste though, including just a plain black.
The formula is a little thicker than most liquid eyeliners and it dries out quite quicky so can sometimes be a little difficult to apply, but once you get used to it, is should be fine. It's also waterproof with is brilliant as it means that it lasts absolutely forever, I mean you have to use a good eye make-up remover and some actual effort to get it off. Although this is quite annoying, it means that when it's on, it's on.
Being MAC, these are a little expensive but they are definitely worth it, especially if your eyeliner usually smudges.
Though it is true that this eyeliner lasts a very long time, and can withstand exposure to all the elements (only comes off with Boots Expert Sensitive Eye Make Up Remover pads), I cannot recommend it. It's extremely expensive (around £13), and its texture feels a bit dried up and clumpy, even if its brand new and unopened. The thick texture makes Eit very difficult to apply, and I personally prefer to draw just a thin line above the lashes of my top eyelid, so I need complete control over the eyeliner, and a runnier texture. Even the sales person at the Mac counter told me she has to apply a big dollop on her hand, and then mix and apply it using a different brush.
Luckily, i found a fantastic liquid eyeliner made by GOSH (£6.85 each, plus 3 for 2 offer on at superdrug), available in similar colours and even packaging as the Mac liquidlast. They have the ideal consistency, and they cost less than half of what the Mac ones cost!
For the past couple of years now, I have been a big fan of the cat-eye look, i.e. lining the top of each of my lid in heavy black colour, which only really requires a good quality black liquid eye-liner to work. I had tried a variety of liners from a variety of brands, including Lancome, Bobbi Brown, and others, when my sister suggested I try MAC Liquidlast. We were on holiday together at the beach, and she instructed me to put it on before heading out that day - the line won't smudge, she said, regardless of any amount of sunscreen, ocean waves, sweat or sand you'll throw at it. Truer words have NEVER been spoken - since that day, I have been MAC Liquidlast's biggest advocate! It will literally NOT move until you attack it - and I mean, ATTACK it, with a cotton ball + good quality eye make-up remover. Wearing it to the gym, upon emerging from the shower, I often only need to touch up my cheeks and maybe run a pencil eye liner underneath each eyelid to 'freshen up' - but I have never had to re-apply the Liquidlast itsef. The colour is great, and when I've tried others - to see if they were just as good, and if I might alternate between the two products - I was always disappointed at them running, smearing, or simply fading in colour. If you like black liquid eye liner, make this a staple of your make-up bag NOW.
Most enduring eyeliner ever! Black eye liner is my one of my signatures - hardly ever seen without it - so I have tired a few in my time. This eyeliner does come in many colours but I can only comment on the black: and black it is. Take care when applying as this liner really stays put and is not water soluble, it takes oil to remove and as one of the last stages in make-up application, making a mess at eyeliner stage is not something I would want to do! In addition, I have my own eyeliner brush - I am used to it and have the balance and perfect thickness to suit my eyes but this product prevents me from using the brush so I have had to get another I clean in oil which is better than the one supplied - I would never use such a small brush. This product is perfect for clubbing, long days (or nights) - it could be used for every day wear but I would not recommend that as it is so very durable.
Since the age of around 12 years old I started with a condition that left me with very short and sparse eyelashes. I am now 28 years old and since my teen years I have always been very conscious of my eyes.
When I discovered makeup I realised I could draw my eyelashes on with eyeliner therefore not making my almost bare eyelids quite as noticeable. I started with eye pencil but this easily faded and rubbed off. I then discovered liquid eyeliner which seemed to do the trick much better. I found it quite difficult to apply to begin with, but with regular use I soon mastered the art.
My problem came when I wanted to go swimming with my friends, I would make every excuse under the sun not to go as I knew the eyeliner would come off with the water and there was no way I would put myself through the embarrassment and humiliation. I had found certain liquid liners to be longer lasting than others, but had never found a waterproof one.
This prompted me to look out for liquid eyeliners that were waterproof. I searched the high-street including cheaper makeup brands and also the more expensive brands in department stores, but was never successful. I found it hard to believe that waterproof mascara's were so widely available and yet I could not find one single waterproof liquid eyeliner.
I finally reached a point of desperation when I had booked to go to Center Parcs and suddenly panicked over the thought of going swimming, as much as I love swimming! I made one final attempt at searching the internet and came across MAC Cosmetics, a brand I had never considered before. I read reviews on MAC's Liquidlast Liner and was amazed to find it was actually waterproof.
I knew I had to try it and purchased it. When I received it I immediately put it to the test, applied it and then went in the shower. Oh my goodness me!!! After years of searching I have finally found a life changing product!! Not only does it stay on in water, it stays on overnight and still looks untouched the morning after. In fact it is so good it is actually quite hard to remove at all!! It does eventually come off with makeup remover or wipes but just takes a few more attempts than usual.
Having tried an extremely wide range of liquid eyeliners, some fade easily, can end up flaky or dry out my eyelids, but MAC's Liquidlast Liner is one of the most comfortable to wear and is very easy to apply. At just over £12 it is more expensive than other brands but definitely well worth the money. I would highly recommend this product as a long-lasting, even waterproof, liquid eyeliner. A huge thank you to MAC.
I have tried so many eyeliners in my time, I just love make up, Mac of course is my favorite along with benefit and Clinique. I have expensive taste you see!!
I first heard of Mac when my sister was training to become a make up artist, I think at the time it wasn't very well known and probably still isn't as well known as it should be.
She got a huge discount because she was training and this was the start of my fatal addiction to all things MAC!
I have tried many eyeliners and I must admit I'm not a huge fan of the liquid type. I find them tricky to apply unless you have a super steady hand and they take ages to dry guarenteeing you will have to tidy it up time and time again. There is no room for inperfections with the liquid eyeliners as they stick out like a sore thumb.
I was apprehensive to trythe MAC liquid eyeliner especially at a price of £13.00 but this was in the day of Amy Winehouse big liquid eyeliner eyes and I couldn't seem to get on with any of the others so I brought one of these in their 10% off day in Covent Garden London.
All MAC products come nicely packaged in cute little boxes which I always keep and have accumulated about 30 of. Although quite dull in colour and shape unlike others suck as benefit it has a professional and expensive look and I like the packaging all the same.
They come in 2.5ml tubes and come with applicator 'brush on stick' in the lid.
I was so pleasantly surprised when I tried to use the eyeliner. I had geared myself up for a stressful half hour of applying and re applying until perfect but I got it first time. It was so easy and smooth to apply and the shape of the brush produced a perfectly defined line.
It felt really nice on my lids unlike others I have used before which seemed to make my eyes feel dry and sore and make my eyes water and what was even better was that it was super quick to dry and I was good to go in no time at all.
Talk about impressive...I ended up being about half hour early for my party.
Now one disadvantage I just had to mention is that if you plan to buy one of these and wear it be prepared to wear it for a few days because once you have got it on it just won't budge. I tried everything to get this off and eventually gave up thinking it would be easier in the morning. I woke up with the eyeliner in exactly the same state I had left it untouched, unflaked, and unsmudged. They claim it it long lasting and I don't think they was joking when they said this.
Some may see this as an advantage but I did start to panic when I had to take my daughter to swimming lessons with my Amy Winehouse eyes.
I did eventuallyget it off though with a bit of white spirit - Yes I am just kidding!! I used a bit of soap and water - why didn't I think of that before, there was me using all the best make up removers and wipes and all it needed was a bit of soap and water. Silly me!!
This eyeliner can be purchased in many shades and colours and they even have glitter versions - how exciting. Be sure to wait until the 10% off day though because as I said they are expensive and once you have one you will want every colour and there are about 20!
If your really adventurous you could buy them all and wear them at the same time!!
I am a huge fan of eyeliner and love to try different ones in order to find the best.
I hadnt seen this one on the shelves before and so decided to give it a go.
It is in a glass sort of tube which is clear and so helps you see how much you have left which I thought was an excellent idea and with other liquid eyeliners you never know when you've ran out until the last moment and by then its to late! The lid is black and plastic it has a very nice shine to it. When you unscrew the lid and pull it off you'll find the brush is attached.
The brush is very thin and so this helps to make it a lot more accurate when applying and I have found it just glides onto the skin.
However this is where I will now come onto the bad points of this mascara. I found it to be quite runny which while it helps it glide on it can make it difficult to apply anything thicker then a very thin line as it will then begin to run and I love to have dramatic looking eyes! Secondly on first applying the eyeliner you'll be amazed at the richness of the black however noce it has dried I found the colour was a lot duller and so left a lot to be desired.
For me personally this is a eyeliner I dont think I'll be using again.
Mac Liquid Liners are packaged in a little clear tube with a black lid (the brush is attached to from the inside) MAC is written in black on the clear tube.
Mac Liners are around £16.00 for 2.5ml though they last a very long time.
These liners are available in around 17 colours (jewel brights and naturals) but limited editions are often brought out so more are available. I have personally used the classic black liner and the limited edition glitter liner. There is a colour and a finish to suit everyone.
The brush gives a very precise application, varying the pressure that you put it on with varies the thickness of the line you draw, so you get too looks. Apparently they can also be used to colour the entire eyelid in giving a solid block of colour. I have never tried this but I will be trying it as the liner is flake proof and doesn't smudge so I would imagine it will make a top eye shadow!!
I recommend this product to anyone who needs a flake proof, un budge able eyeliner or someone who just wants to experiment with a new look, it really is worth the money
These MAC liquidlast eye liners are available for £12.72 from MAC shops, maccosmetics.co.uk and any department stores that sell their products like Debenhams.
There are currently 17 shades in the range but they sometimes bring out new colours as part of a limited edition collection. There are also different finishes for these liners; some are matte, others shiny and some have a metallic finish to them.
They come in a see through plastic tube with a black lid and the MAC logo on the see through part. There's a little brush attached to the screw on lid and I find that it gives a nice, precise application. You can draw thin and thick lines, depending on the pressure you apply to the brush.
What I like about these liners is that you can also smudge these out to give a smoky effect or also apply it as a whole colour on the lid as a base or even colour on its own.
It's very long wearing and doesn't flake or smudge at all once it's dried. I love all the vibrant colours they have and haven't quite seen any other make up range have some of the pretty jewel and candy shades that MAC has.
I recommend these liners as they're very vibrant and opaque. It's a must for anyone who loves bright shades and good quality make up.
I'm not one of those girls that insists on wearing a full face of makeup to the beach / pool, but I won't deny that sometimes I like to wear a little bit of mascara or eyeliner. Who doesn't want to look their best if possible?
Any makeup lover knows that finding truly waterproof products can be a task - Even those that claim to be smudge / sweat proof usually arn't and theres nothing more annoying than realising you have mascara runs all down your face. After booking a holiday in the South of France I decided to begin my search for a truly waterproof eyeliner. Where better to start than MAC?
'Liquidlast Liners' are the first product of their type that have 100% lived up to their claims. These things just do. not. budge.
Available in 16 different shades, most are shimmery / pearly but there are some classic, flat shades too. They promise not to smudge or flake throughout the day and to apply effortlessly using the integrated brush.
At £13.00 for 2.5ml they are affordable and very much worth it in my opinion.
I usually use the 'Liquidlasts' like any other liquid liner - for a fine line across the upper lashline, but they can be worn in many different ways.
When used as a base all over the lid they give a bright, metallic finish that doesnt crease (but keep the application light or it can feel 'taut' and uncomfortable on the skin.)
For those with sparse eyebrows, you can even use a tiny amount of the more neutral 'Liquidasts' on an angled brush (such as the MAC #266) and apply in small, stroke-like motions through the brow for long lasting, waterproof eyebrows.
The brush included has a small head, with tightly packed bristles that applies a fine, 2-3mm thick line of product. With a bit of practice and a steady stand, you can achieve professional looking results quickly and easily.
However, the 'stem' of the wand can sometimes be a problem since it holds a lot of the product on it which can easily transfer onto the eyelashes, resulting in a sticky, clumpy mess on the lashes that is hard to remove. There are two ways to avoid this - Use a seperate, similar shaped brush (such as the MAC #210) or, like me, simply wipe the wand with a tissue before using.
Not a huge annoyance but something worth thinking about if you are in a rush :-)
Once applied and dried, they don't smudge or flake at all and last throughout the day. Regular eye makeup removers wont touch this, so invest in an oil based product that will remove it easily with no dragging on the eye area.
Really great product, that does exactly what it says on the tin!
