MAC Mascara X
Advantages: good value for money, doesn't clump or smudge
Disadvantages: only 2 shades and doesn't give the dramatic look it promises
This MAC mascara is currently being sold for £10.00 and comes in 2 shades.
I picked this up about 3 months ago, I wanted a good mascara that builds the lashes, makes them appear longer and fuller and this is what the make up artist at MAC recommended to me. I got the black one, I would have gotten it in another shade but this only comes in black or brown and since I've got dark lashes and eyes, I wanted this to show up nicely and look more dramatic and I didn't feel that the brown would give me that.
I asked the make up artist to try some on me but she wasn't allowed to use the brush that comes with the mascara (for hygienic reasons). The disposable applicators that she applied the mascara with didn't do that good a job but she ensured me that if I try it again at home with the correct brush, I'd get much better results.
So, the next day I thought I'd try this with the actual mascara wand and see if I got the effects I was looking for. I didn't get the dramatic look I described to her but found that it did coat my lashes and didn't clump. It also added a little length and a bit of a curl but nothing too noticeable.
I'd say this mascara is ok for an everyday look, but when I want something more flashy and daring, I'll opt for my Lancome hypnose mascara. These MAC ones are about half the price of a Lancome mascara, so it's quite good and gives a nice effect for daytime make up.
Summary: this is nice for an every day look but might look more dramatic on girls with longer lashes
